  1. I would have offered a 1st and 3rd for Stafford. I would now offer the same for Carr. I agree with those who have him a peg below Stafford but Carr is 29. His cap hit the next two years seems reasonable as well.
  2. He fits the criteria of a buy low good upside option. What would it take to get him? 3rd round pick? I like the idea of a former high round pick(talent) still young with a chip on their shoulder. Obviously he adds the mobility that we covet. A bigger, stronger, faster version of Allen and Heinicke. You could have them all compete and barring injury the show rolls on. Of the lower tier options I like: 1) Mariota 2) Darnold 3) Tyrod/Trubisky
  3. Kj Wright on a 2 year stop gap. Still draft a second day LB. I would hope Samuel would be the cheapest, youngest, upside WR we could get. Everything Steven Sims was supposed to be and more.
  4. Thank you. This post was a reminder of the Bruce and Doug press conferences and that era of the Washington front office. I know most are underwhelmed by our recent changes. Take 30 seconds and compare our front office to then and now. Ron, Mayhew and Marty are a clear upgrade to what we had just 12 months ago. This isn't just potential and pedigree. We won the NFC east this year. We are now a QB and only a couple of pieces on offense and defense from being a contender. That was not the prevailing opinion just 12 months ago.
  5. Overpay. 1st and 3rd for Matthew Stafford ( I would also pay for Dak Prescott if available). Plan B..draft Qb in the 3rd..compete with Heinicke and Allen. Continue to reinforce roster and get our QB next year.
  6. Resign Scherff. Let Darby walk. He isn't shut down and we could get similar play from a less heralded cb due to our line. Im of the mindset better downhill LB play will force more 2nd and 3rd and long situations. That combined with our dline..minimizes the impact of the cb. Draft a CB in the 3rd or 4th and maybe resign Fabian for the low.
  7. I figured Kyle Smith was 2-3 years away from getting the GM position. Just last year he received a promotion and increased responsibility. To make another leap so quickly seemed premature and this was validated by the lack of interviews he had for other openings. With two additional successful drafts under his watch which would coincide with our team winning on the field. That combination would lead to another rebuilding franchise trying to acquire his talent as they rebuild. I never read to much into him not getting an interview for the GM position because in all reality he has been interviewing since Ron arrived. The conversations, meetings and performance has been on display very clearly to Ron... just not to us as there appears to be a grey area on who did exactly what. Last night I went to bed with the thought that even with Martin and Marty on board that Kyle could stay. My thought was in another year or two he could elevate to the assistant GM position which remains open and if necessary Marty retires, Martin takes the Exec VPP role and Kyle would take over as GM. Same voices in the room, Kyle gets groomed..everyone is happy with titles etc. Also we need to consider Ron has a five year contract and we appear close. He doesn't want to babysit and groom; if Kyle were to remain with the organization that long then it would be on Ron's second contract that the above scenario would come to fruition. Apparently I was naive..but I'm also not going to get all bent out of shape for someone who we don't know how much or little were able to accomplish. I still figure he should be aiming for the asst GM role in the next year or two after learning from Martin and Marty. Then he could secure the GM position here or somewhere else and have the requisite experience and track record to do so.
  8. I agree with this take. I like option B Matthew Stafford. For cap purposes less money at the Qb position which allows us to retain most of our own. Less draft capital given up to keep our farm system healthy. Gives us the ability to win now and still win later. Buying us time to find a qb 4-5 years from now.
  9. @Wildbunny Yes they are and I just ordered one. That was the most fun I've had watching our team play in a long time and especially on offense. For that reason alone the shirt is worth it, regardless on how his career plays out moving forward.
  10. As you know I like the potential of Stafford on this team. What would you be comfortable giving up?
  11. I think this was my biggest takeaway from the Heinicke experience. The ball was being thrown downfield effectively. Those 10-20 yard chunk plays. I thought our offense was more dink and dunk but ultimately it appears that was the style of Qb we had at the time. With timing and anticipation Heinicke proved that in this system we can be more then dink and dunk. It seems he's the most comfortable reading through his progressions while the other Qbs would hang on to their first read and then either check down or throw late somewhere else. The rhythm or processing speed of which he operates it seems as if he can hit that third read and it's still on time. I also noticed his check downs where exactly that as he used them very late when all options were accounted for. This resulted in less YAC for Mckissick but I like his understanding of down and distance. This makes me think Stafford would be excellent; although he is less mobile he can still move around the pocket and run for a few first downs a game. It would be cool to see Stafford, a bellcow back(Harris) and perhaps a Kadarius Toney on this team added to our current weapons.
  12. Agreed. I would also like to double up on all three positions in free agency and the draft.
  13. I think his hip injury slowed his stats down some. I believe he missed two games and I would bet it took him another 2-3 to get back up to speed. Regardless..he is a beast.
  14. I think we use our cap to resign our own. Draft a WR or CB high in 2021.
  15. Sweat wasent a monster his rookie year but he wasent bad either. Typically we as a fan base are more patient with rookies. For whatever reason Sweat doesn't get the typical rookie season and room to grow chatter. He has the measureables and perhaps the Del Rio effect will have just as much impact on him as the rest of the defense.
  16. I like this thread and what I've seen from Curl. I'm interested on his value as a safety or corner. Given JDR's style could he play corner and big that physical approach to the position or is he a developing safety?
  17. I don't. AGG is an immediate Red Zone target. Harmon thus far is not.
  18. If anything he is not handicapped by athleticism. Give me an athletic that is capable that needs technique refinement and coaching over a polished technician that will never be capable.
  19. What is the issue? AP is a dog and his leadership is valued but he isn't the long term answer and neither is Barber.
  20. I disagree. The one dimensional players are the ones at risk. Barber and to a lesser extent AP.
  21. I remember one year it was as if every Santana Moss WR screen went for big yardage. Nice to have Gibson and Simms both capable threats with the ball in their hands.
