  1. If I had room on my fantasy team I would nab Dyami. Right now.
  2. Samuel had this injury before training camp. Let that sink in. Sounds like a groin tear given the timeline.
  3. The entire offseason we discussed all the various ways Samuel can and will impact this team. It's time to adjust expectations. Anything we get from Samuel this season will be a bonus. I don't think the organization had much of a choice but to see if he could heal in time for the season. If he can't go Sunday; then he should be put IR. Listen I want him in there like the next person but its go time. Cam, Dyami and Adam will get plenty of work this year. Ultimately; I still think we win the division and make a playoff run. Works for me.
  4. I agree with most everything you described and the emphasis on the TE and RB depth. Ultimately, I’m more optimistic that we will have more of a committee approach this year. Gibson is the lead dog; hell, I have him on my keeper fantasy league (I drafted him last year). I’m aware of the touches that McKissic snaked last year. Given Gibson’s toe injury and developing skill set at the position my assumption is we will see McKissic, and Patterson get a series or two throughout the game. Essentially it will be that way anyway with McKissic still getting plenty of 3rd down, hurry up and long-distance packages. Patterson should get a few change-of-pace series to alleviate wear and tear on the top two backs. I agree; I would like us to draft a true complete dynamic back next year. That will give us a solid 1-2 punch mixed with Darren Sproles jr.
  5. They very well might we still have plenty of time before the opener. The real intrigue is watching the changes on the depth chart and playing time over the next 3 weeks. Expect more ebbs and flows. I wouldn't necessary advocate to switch him after his first NFL game. After all what is the preseason for?
  6. What is nice about this year and the three preseason games is we get to see exactly that. It does feel like he has lost a little buzz with Fitz emerging as the clear number 1 but we have live action in 48 hours and two more games to reach a better conclusion.
  7. Unreal athleticism. Tell us more.. its very evident!?!
  8. I agree and was a fan of Steven Sims initially but now I cringe at the thought of him ever returning punts for us in a game and also don't trust his hands as a WR. If you skip to 35:11 on the BMitch & Finlay link they discussed the return game today. At 40:00 BMitch provides a hilarious but fair description of what Steven Sims does wrong as a returner.
  9. Shrewd moves by the Front Office constructed by Ron Rivera, Martin Mayhew and co. I'm gaining confidence we can retain most of our own. On Keim's most recent podcast he mentioned the benefit of not having a high priced qb on the current roster. We could draft a qb next year or the year after to provide cap flexibility for our next batch of free agents with Ionnadis, Payne, Sweat, and McLaurin on expiring deals.
  10. The offensive line will be a development to look out for with the rotating pieces projected in the next two seasons. Where does Cosmi ultimately play? Charles? Best case scenario we have our young pair of LT/RT or LT/RG. Leno, Lucas, Scherff and either Flowers or Schweitzer will probably be gone. That leaves our young pair that will slot in around Roullier. Will probably look to draft these athletic-flex lineman in the early rounds as a trend moving forward; balanced by average FA depth additions.
  11. @Skinsinparadise I was a pro Kirk guy and mostly agree. I still don't think he was aggressive enough and your right some of that is part of the showing up in big games soup. Ironically this aligns with my issue with Kirk and my optimism for Fitz. Let's talk Fitz. There were intial reports about Fitz throwing to spots in practice where the ball would be in a game. Taking those shots in practice will give the team more confidence to do execute it in a game. I think you would agree Fitz brings an added gamesmanship. I couldn't resist..to be fair Kirk had this as well but it was only after the Tampa comeback and his catchy war cry did he ever display any gravitas. Even then he would underperform in the big moments. I think Fitz is a consistently more aggressive QB even in practice and I absolutely trust him more in the big game. The only Kirk big game playing for our team that he shined was the Packers? Sunday night game I believe...?! Back to my warped view being a fan of this team. Kirk was the best qb we have had in a long time. If I can get a more aggressive version in Fitz then sign me up.
  12. Those stats backup the eye test. As a fan of this team my view of QB play is warped. We have been a dink and dunk offense for YEARS. Kirk let it rip occasionally with Jackson and Garcon. Kirk also didn't let it fly nearly enough. Prompting complaints from Gruden even in practice which was very strange. Before that? Brad Johnson? I feel like he was good for that heavy pump fake go deep with 2 or 3 shots a game. I'm pumped to have an aggressive QB like Fitz and even Heinicke that throw the ball down field. To put some ketchup on it...I also have Gibson and McLaurin on my fantasy keeper league.
  13. Everyone will have another year of experience and we get Ion back.
  14. Dan Orlovsky on NFL live right now talking up our defensive line. The segment was about the Bucs ability to repeat. Orlovsky's point was our front four had the make up to stop the Bucs. He then touted our recent playoff game. The dog days of the offseason continue... Still in the 10-7 or 11-6 camp for the season.
  15. I'm not a huge hogs haven advocate; although I will scroll through their WFT twitter feed during practices and after a press conference. During the dog days of the offseason I came across this article and mostly agree but with two caveats. 1) I don't think we need to spend $40-50 million next year to resign our own. The only contracts of note will be Logan Thomas and Jonathan Allen. The remaining free agents are starters who if we resign won't break the bank or depth guys. We can get similar production from draft picks and depth free agents. My guess $25-30 million. Then roll our cap over to the following offseason where McLaurin, Sweat, Ion and Payne are free agents. 2) I think we draft our next franchise QB. We will continue to fortify the roster to be less QB reliant although ultimately we will need a franchise guy. I think we get a 2nd or 3rd tier guy to develop and roll with Fitz or Heinicke another year. This approach with will give us a better chance at resigning the majority of our own. Keeping our expenses at the QB position low. I'm bored. To soon for season predictions? 10-7 or 11-6. Playoff contender. We won't have a high enough draft pick to get a tier 1 QB. The 5 O’Clock Club: Don’t get too excited about that projected 2022 cap surplus of $60m just yet - Hogs Haven Washington’s upcoming 2022 free agents Here’s a list of the key WFT players that will become free agents in 2022 unless they are re-signed. Each of these guys is a potential roster hole that will have to be filled either in the draft, via trade, by re-signing the current player, or by signing a free agent to the roster. I estimate that the front office will need to use between $40m and $50m in 2022 cap space to fill all of these positions except starting quarterback. That estimate includes signing a long-term extension with Jonathan Allen. If my estimates are in the neighborhood, that would leave the front office with around $10 to $20 million in cap space and 6 draft picks to find a quarterback.
  16. @Skinsinparadise Our cap situation certainly looks healthy. I was going to respond with further evidence of retaining our own; but what I found was 2023 is the big year for our roster. Not 2022. The only projected big money extensions are Logan Thomas and Jonathan Allen. I didn't want to screenshot the entire list but Tim Settle is down there too. Here is 2023: How much will we need to resign this crop? Looks as if we can roll quite a bit of cap over from 2022.
  17. @Skinsinparadise with our current roster construction I think that cap room will be used for maybe a QB and resigning most of our own. Do you have a potential free agent in mind or position where a marquee player fits the bill? We already have EDGE, CB, WR, and probably LT (likely draft if Cosmi stays on the right).
  18. @GothSkinsFan I think Gibson is the short yardage and goal line threat. For that reason I think you see a bit more rotation throughout the game. Samuel, Mckissic, Patterson will all get carries or long handoffs. I think we benefit from a veteran QB like Fitz for sneaks and designed keeps. Obviously Heinicke can do that as well.
  19. @sjinhan I would take his production this year and get the compensatory 3rd. Obviously he's motivated to play well and stay healthy. Let's be the team that receives that benefit.
  20. On a positive note we probably receive a 3rd round comp pick and cap relief. We would have a young productive inexpensive offensive line for the future. A nice check in the box when managing the roster. Provides cap flexibility for us to sign or trade for an impact player....perhaps a QB for example?! Perhaps the added capital could be used to retain our defensive front. Ron loves flexibility and we can use that 18 million anywhere on the roster.
  21. @Anselmheifer I agree with the value and impact of the pass rush on the defense and roster construction. I happily concede that Chase Young will retire with this team; but in order for that to happen and we remain competitive as a roster most every other position will have turnover. Paying top dollar to retain Chase and Sweat will make it more difficult to sign our franchise QB and other premium positions such as LT/CB. I assume we would retain Terry for top dollar as well. I believe by continuing to draft and being selective with free agent signings and who amongst our core we retain will be the best way to remain competitive. Drafting a direct replacement for Sweat or utilizing a collection of complementary pass rush assets and allocating our cap to retain other positions of need in my opinion seems more likely. I'm happy with either scenario I wish we didn't have a cap and we could resign all of our best players. Perhaps I'm lowering my expectations of seeing this pass rushing dual remain together for another 5+ years. Regardless I will certainly enjoy the next 2-3 while it lasts.
  22. @Berggy9598 I most likely agree. I also think it's closer then you and I'm open to exploring possibilities with Bostic not on the field.
