  1. I saw it in many games, I believe South Carolina and Miami as those were the most recent. His footspeed is "Good" but that's a big difference than the really mobile QBs. If he threw it like Dan Marino I would be fine with that mobility. But he doesn't. He honestly looks more like Bust than Star, and I hate to say that because I was really big on him. Field passing can be very erratic, there were times (mostly early in his career) where he didn't even looked like he belongs in the league. He has gotten better but he is just too inconsistent. After Year 3 I think most players are who they are. I won't discuss Kirk anymore but it's odd that we can talk about Justin Fields but not Kirk Cousins. Another example of why I do not understand why he is so polarizing.
  2. Other than Tom Brady, who was in a unique situation, name me one professional athlete who didn't try to maximize their income in their short window of opportunity. He was just better at it than others. For this he is hated for being smart? Not in my book.
  3. Because when he has open field in front of him he can exploit that. But when he runs east/west he does not have the speed to reach the edge. I saw that so many times and it was very disappointing. He also took sacked on plays where the more athletic QB escapes. Saw that a lot too. I never said he had slow footspeed, just far below the others. Watch 5-6 complete fame on YouTube and you will see that as well.
  4. I will never understand the hate Kirk gets, not just here but throughout the league. Far more hate than comparable QBs such as Carr or Jimmy G. He maximized his position and leveraged that into a fortune, isn't that was America is all about?
  5. After 3 seasons we all know who Justin Fields is. He is a player who can offer spectacular moments but he is far too inconsistent to be counted as a franchise QB. Next you have an expiring contract and will be forced to pay big money for a QB who is not good enough to take you to the Super Bowl.
  6. I have been on the Maye train all along. I much prefer a pocket passer because the team that wins the Super Bowl has a really good pocket passer nearly every time. I have been watching Maye's full games, the first few I kept trying to convince myself that he could be like Ben Rothlisberger. But after watching 6-7 games now I just don't see anything that would make me believe he will be special. He does not escape traffic in the pocket nearly as well as the more athletic QBs, his footspeed does not allow him to turn the corner on defenders. His passing is good but nothing close to elite. I think the odds are far better that he ends up somewhere between Blake Bortels and David Carr than he ends up as an elite QB. If you are going to take a swing take a big swing on a guy who could be great, and I no longer believe that is Drake Maye.
  7. I have no idea how any fan can't be thrilled with every signing. Allegretti had a higher PFF grade than Brandon Scherff last season. They have filled a giant hole with a solid starter at a reasonable price. Eckeler is not washed, he is 28 (Barkley is 27) and was injured and a victim of the disaster that was San Diego last season. He will provide more explosive plays in his first month than Gibson provided in his entire time here. McMannus is a proven NFL kicker where Slye was far too inconsistent and that was occurring before Cheeseman started rolling snaps to the holder. We all know the LB was a slam dunk and did provide an impact player but the rest of the signings were just good smart moves.
  8. I was out all day so got caught up by reading the last 15 pages or so. As centers were coming off the board I got nervous, very happy to read they signed Biadasz, and from a division rival. Glad to see Gibson go, I have no idea why he continue to get love here. For all his speed can we name any breakout plays he actually made here? We got a productive edge, a position far harder to fill, for the same price NE paid Antonio Gibson. Ekeler has always been one of my favorite players, a RB who actually makes explosive plays unlike Gibson. I think last year was more about injuries, he is not old and if they can sign him I'd be thrilled.
  9. You bring up a point I have always thought about. People are constantly referencing the Commanders as having the most cap space. But they also have fewer players signed. Is $96 million in cap space with 49 players signed really a better situation than New England who has $72 million but that includes 60 players under contract?
  10. I can come up with a list as well of rookie QBs who did not sit a few years and still played great right away. 3 in one draft class alone in Luck, Griff and Wilson, more recently Burrow, Stroud and Herbert. Then there is Cam Newton and Dak who made Pro Bowls after their rookie seasons. Deshaun Watson started halfway through his rookie season and was very good, by the next season he was one of the best. We can go all the way back to Dan Marino and Ben Roethlisberger as well. The best thing you can have in the NFL is a good QB on a rookie contract, that window is small so teams want to get their rookie on the field as soon as they are ready.
  11. You can roll over some of your traditional IRA or 401 into a Roth each year, but it is taxable. Hard call as your tax rate now is high as you are working and we don't know what the tax rate will be in 20 years but I would think your income will be lower and in a different tax bracket perhaps.. But it may be a good move as the tax free earnings is hard to pass up.
  12. I have always subscribed to all of this. When investors try to time the market the masses lose their asses. Also a big investors in index funds. Buy and hold is the way to go, I am proud of myself for not worrying too much as I watched the market dip in 2022 when I was so close to retirement. I realize we had been on a crazy long run and we were due a correction so let's get it over with was my thought, .
  13. I just turned 65 and have finalized my medical insurance costs and SS benefits. Along with the market gains I will realize about $150 more a month than I had planned for. Let's party.
  14. I was surprised that Ertz won't turn 34 until November. I honestly thought he was older than that. Good solid move, I've always believed. as posted earlier, that the plan is to sign several older vets on short term deals as they build through the draft.
  15. I had read when they signed Wylie that his best position was guard. Was he actually a good guard or did he just suck less there than at RT?
  16. I am all for blowing it up, I expect this roster to look totally different next year. But I have to say I'm a bit concerned about the Leno move. LT was not the real problem, he was solid if unspectacular and certainly good enough to bring back and hold down the position or offer good depth for one more year IMO. Now they have a giant hole at a critical position on top of all their other needs. I hope they know what they are doing.
  17. Most everyone agrees RR is a good guy, I was rooting for him. But he had total control of personnel and after 4 years the team is worse than the "train wreck" he inherited. He was supposed to be the savior and he made the situation worse with his horrible draft picks and free agent signings. If you evaluate his track record in personnel here you would be hard pressed to find a group who did worse. And that's saying something given the previous groups. He was supposed to clean up the disfunction yet we saw every bit as much disfunction while he was here, maybe even more. Just what did he clean up? I know it was not him but did he really improve the culture, was it better than when Jay Gruden was the HC? Even his own players who supposed to love him graded him a C-. Then there were the tired excuses such as claiming they were a young team when the truth was they were league average. He clearly had no answers because, as his record indicates, he is just not a good Head Coach and HORRIBLE at personnel. The bottom line is The was 26-40, never had a winning season, and left the team void of good young talent on affordable rookie contracts which is critical to every team's success. This lack of good, young, affordable players will hinder this team long after he is gone. So yeah I get all the hate, it's not personal but perfectly understandable.
  18. Finally remembered how to change my profile pic to my current dog, Nikki who is a year and a half. We just got back from the beach where she saw the ocean for the first time. It went exactly as I had expected, she got the zoomies and then ran into the surf. She loves the water and I knew this would get her excited. I was thinking about recording it but then remembered the time we were whale watching in Maine and I spent the whole trip trying to get the perfect picture (which never happened) and I missed the experience. So this time I just enjoyed seeing my baby discover new things. She is so much fun.
  19. As far as I can see Washington is the only question mark at the top. Bears are going Williams, Pats take which ever QB we don't select and Marvin Harrison Jr. goes to the Cards. I am convinced of this.
  20. Good catch. I should have stayed with my first thought and said won the SB, when I changed to appearances I had forgotten about Kap and Cam. I did look at Russ and probably should have included him. Young was a great passer who happened to be a great runner but he was pass first. So we are left with Russ as the only super mobile SB winning QB and he had a dominant defense behind him.
  21. This is a case where I don't believe you help a divisional opponent potentially land a true franchise QB and face that for a decade. We are much better off leaving the Giants stuck with Daniel Jones.
  22. I will admit to a bias. These super mobile QBs have been around since Randall Cunningham, over the last decade we've seen a ton of them and some on good teams. But only one (Hurts) even made it to the Super Bowl. As I watched the first quarter of the Ravens/Chiefs I told myself I have to get with the times and accept this type of QB as the future. An 8 yard run on 3rd and 6 is just as good as an 8 yard pass into tight coverage. But then I see Lamar crap the bed in the playoffs. Again. And I'm right back where I've always been, preferring a pocket QB
  23. I don't want to nit pick, again if the pick is Daniels I will totally support it. He is a very exciting player. But if he had to increase his work ethics could that mean he wasn't dedicating 100% and not a hard worker by nature? I want a guy who was always the hardest worker as my QB. Not sure if it's Maye, just throwin' it out there because April is a long way away.
  24. I am really surprised there is so much fan talk about wanting to take Jaden Daniels. If he is the pick I will support it because I believe in the new regime. But he just sounds so risky to me. This is all based off of one year with spectacular weapons. I know I know Joe Burrow, but Burrow is not this thin and we don't have tape of him trying to blow through an entire front 7 and getting smashed.
