  1. One important aspect to keep in mind regarding FAs and draft picks is having a competent coaching staff to further them along. That is one thing this team doesn't have. They seem content or unable to teach fundamental techniques, tendencies for and against a player or opponent and apparantly quality game planning. I agree the talent at QB position isn't top notch but with a solid team a winning record can be achieved,
  2. Getting a top college QB is one thing. Having a coaching staff who has the ability and experience to properly groom said QB is a horse of a different color. I don't see that here.
  3. Oh boy here we go! This game will tell everyone what we need to know. 1. Was it simply 'rust' with TH in the 1st half against GB or was it a combo of rust and play calling? 2. Will DelTaco get the entire defense on track and communicating with each other? 3. Will Jim Irsay be at the game wearing a FU Snyder shirt and will Snyder be at the game wearing a FU Irsay shirt? I think this will be a game that is actually high scoring, say Irsay 23 I Say 34
  4. TH may have been suffering some gametime rust in the 1st half, we'll have to wait til next week to see for sure, but the TD to Terry was perfect. The d-line did ok but they did struggle on outside containment some, but given the passing threat Rodgers posed it worked out, and barely getting to Rodgers surprised me; I thought they'd get 4 sacks at least. If the secondary can start taking a peek now and then they'd have alot better chance at getting a pick. The TD towards the end of the game I thought could have been picked easily had his head turned a second sooner. Overall its a team win; the 'doink' FG miss gave me flashbacks but glad it wasn't needed in the end. On to Indy.
  5. Since TH is starting, doesn't that bump Howell up to back-up? That may give him some opportunities to see what he has, even if it is practice. TH played about how I thought he'd play; some good passes, some had mustard on them, and some made me scratch my head, but he did beat a weaponless Rodgers team. Before anyone spews lets just wait and see what happens the next couple games.
  6. The secondary has the talent, i'm kinda surprised to admit it, but if they could just improve on communication and taking a peek here and there they'd have alot more chances of interceptions; they're only keying on their guy's movements when defending. The TD to Jones late could have been an easy pick had he just looked.
  7. well, i'm not going to beat on my chest, but there were a few passes that had a little heat on them. But the point I was trying to make showed itself; weapons, or lack thereof by Rodgers. They don't have that big time WR like they usually do. This IMO was a big part of why he didn't play well last year. And FWIW, yea, TH did look out of sorts a bit but he did make some nice passes.
  8. How DARE you call Joe Barry a poor DC!! lol No, I get what you're saying, and personally I doubt that TH will even last the season if it comes to that. Right now neither of us have a say in who starts, and he's been thrusted into the limelight once again, and I feel that he may have that Tampa playoff-type game where he surprises everyone, but then again he may crap the bed, but if he gets it going and plays really good, what do you do? Pull him to save chances at draft order or keep fighting to win games? He's the type of QB that will need alot of help to win games, but we've all seen stranger things happen...
  9. Fellow ESers, let me first off start by apologizing to anyone that I may have offended in my post. This wasn't my intentions, I was only attempting to kind of bring everyone a little closer to the middle. I'm not calling out anyone in particular, and I am absolutely not a 'hiver', but I will at least give someone a chance before I give up, and this goes for a few other players AND coaches. I guess I was trying to say that last year was last year, and because a QB didn't play well then, doesn't mean that he will play bad this year, but it is certainly possible, but i'm not going to write him off until it actually happens. I've seen many a QB who lost 1 or more of their top weapons play poorly, and whether or not he falls into that category is not really debatable. So, everyone, have a nice day! 🙂
  10. Apparently you WILL have to wait and find out. By your logic GB should have traded Rodgers away in 2008 when they went 6-10 or 7-9. Once a QB has a bad year its time to get rid of the bum. Got it !
  11. Well, either TH ends up throwing better, with more velocity when needed and better accuracy, still there will be some who will blame him if they lose 45-41. or, TH ends up stinking up the joint and the team continues to stay on quest for a top draft pick. Either way, whats gone so horribly bad that some fans will never be happy unless TH completely stinks up the joint? Is there really THAT much hatred for a player who is trying to do his best? I seriously doubt that TH will go out there and play crappy 'just because', and it wasn't HIS choice to be thrusted into the starting role, that was the decision made my the HC. I'm not trying to defend TH directly, but maybe indirectly; does the hatred of a player by a fan go as far as rooting against him playing good? Maybe going on a nice winning streak? Give other fans something to be cheerful about? Or is it just the idea that some's misery needs company and wishing bad luck on a player just to justify being right about something? This fan base is ****ed... SIC
  12. This could be true, guess we'll just have to wait and find out. BUT: In the grand scheme of things { or my corrupted twisted mind } I think this may be the start of something interesting. The Vikings are atop their division, and GB is in turmoil { or at least about to be }, and with TH starting { not that it would've made a difference had it been Howell } I somehow have a notion of this happening; GB loses this game, the Vikings will pull away with the division, and the Commies will go on a winning streak, to the degree that they will be playing meaningful football in December. I've seen this sort of thing happen before, long ago when I actually cared about football so I can easily envision this happening. The NFCE will have every team within 2-3 games of each other when its all said and done, but I just have this crazy feeling GB will fall apart and the Commies will make things very interesting the remainder of the season, IF, TH plays up to his level that he's capable of. I could be wrong...
  13. where do you think they got the name 'WASHington from? Clean that **** up! And Wentz just lays all over the field... As much as he's been planted he should be able to grow crops by now.
  14. Well, TBH, nobody knows for sure how he will play. I'm a firm believer in the "sophomore slump" and have seen quite a number of QBs go through it in my 4+ decades of football, and hoe they learn from the mistakes and play better. And I don't smoke { sniff sniff } 😜
  15. FWD thinking, HAD they picked Herbert he'd already have had 2 concussions, sacked 44 times and pee funny as a result of the o-line. Until the line is revamped I doubt any QB would do good much less survive. This o-line should be working at the Marriott Hotel, the way they roll out the red carpet for the d-lines they face.
  16. This is where Turner lacks creativeness. After 3 or 4 possessions, defenses start figuring out whats coming by the formation lined up. If a defense suspects a screen they'll play back, not rushing, then snuff it as soon as Wentz threw the ball { which was held 2 seconds too long }. The "Jumbo" pkgs run at the goal line cause me to pull my hair out. Its so damn frustrating that everyone but Turner KNOWS the o-line will have 11 defenders directly in front of them. Why Turner doesn't throw a 3-4 WR set on 1st & goal from the 3 yd line is beyond me. Defenses HAVE to honor the WRs, thus removing 4-5 defenders from stuffing the run. If they don't honor it, its a simple pitch-n-catch.
  17. One would 'hope' that Turner would give TH more designed roll-outs or at least the opportunity of doing it; thats where he really can break down defenses; but if he tells TH to stay in the pocket and trust the o-line then its all over, and I hope that Turner isn't THAT stupid to trust the line, but with a moron you never know. This will be an interesting game to watch. Either: 1} TH doesn't play well or just looks horrible and the urgency of Dan finally lets him put in Howell, or, 2} TH plays surprisingly good and they win, then everyone goes nucking futs on why he wasn't starting earlier, ES has a meltdown, and as soon as he throws a pick then everyone will call him no good. Fans...
  18. Mis-direction is supposed to be a friendly thing to Scotty, but he treats it like the guy who dumpster dives his trash can...
  19. FTAKA Skins 27 FudgePackers 23 Everyone starts talking about draft spot droppage Rivera already looks like an idiot...
  20. Sen-si-tive! I'm sorry I had to pawn my sarcasm meter for my tin foil hat. { also sarcsasm }
  21. Apparently none of the starting o-line is actually in " game shape "...
  22. IMO TH has a decent shot to beat the Packers. Rodgers is suffering from the exact thing TH was last year, and it was broadcast across the nation on tv of how much he needed weapons; weapons gone or injured. Again, not trying to be a defender of TH, if he doesn't have it he doesn't have it, but 99.5% of QBs coming into the league went through a sophomore slump, they played bad, but then picked it up the next year. Now, Turner's play calling will have alot to do with his success or failure, if he strictly sticks to Turner's calls or he extends the plays, and thats 1 thing that TH is far more better at than Wentz.
  23. 9-8 ? ok, you lose a 'puff'. Now for you its 'puff give give'
  24. I wouldn't say Tennessee and Chicago, even Dallas has anything close to a solid functioning offense that would make any opponent nervous. We are always seeing a WR catching a ball with 3 to 5 defenders within 3 yds of him; would it really be THAT horrible for 1 of them to at least get in the throwing lane? Maybe getting a chance at an int.?
