  1. I caught the last three innings Stowers made a goof in right field which turned a single into a double in the 8th. Apparently took his eyes off the ball and peaked at the runner. Cano was then switched out for Bautista with two outs. Bautista unfortunately continues to throw wild pitches and walk batters, and struggles to hold the runner. I'm not sure why Hyde thinks he's a good option with runners on. Thankfully no damage done tonight as he got the 4-out save.
  2. That ones on Hyde. Starting Henderson, Stowers and McCann in the same game, a combined 0-12 today. With the inherited runner, I would have kept Cano in as he was dealing. Or at least, you have Bautista pitch the 9th. He's not so great with runners on because of his wild pitches, and that was the reason why the Braves were able to tie it up in the 10th. Then you can have Cano close out the 10th
  3. Henderson for some reason got promoted to cleanup, while Hays bats 5th. Henderson strikes out with bases loaded to end the inning, next inning Hays gets a singled (followed by Frazier double) Having Stowers and Henderson both start is almost like conceding the game. Also Mateo is sitting the bench Some questionable lineup decisions by Hyde
  4. Figure the bullpen was going to drop one at some point. Ah well, on to tomorrow. Wondering what Henderson has done to deserve batting 5th.
  5. Fox broadcast, big crowd at Fulton. Announcers said this has the feel of a playoff game, I think I agree. 4-3 Os headed to the bottom of the 8th.
  6. So its only immediate family? I thought also that they basically get to decide who counts. So Harry and Meghan aren't "royals" anymore. Similar to Edward VIII. But assuming they don't do this, and also speaking only of the paternal line, at what point does "legitimate issue" of the younger sons cease being "royal"? I understand that back in the middle ages France did some pretty crazy stuff, finding a male heir in a distant cousin, to prevent the King of England from inheriting the throne, which kicked off the 100 years war ...
  7. Santander grand slam! Taking the Braves to Poundtown.
  8. Hard schedule the next 1.5 weeks 3 @Braves 3 vs Rays 3 vs. Pirates These are all division leaders who are .600 or better. I'd consider it a minor victory if we can get through that with 4 wins or better. Especially since our starting pitching is iffy. I wouldn't count on having to plate 7 runs vs. the Rays or Braves in order to win.
  9. Urias is money again ... 4 RBIs off two PAs Ravens 12 Chiefs 9
  10. Crazy game. Os with a 8-1 lead, but GrayRod roughed up and KC rallys for a 9-8 the lead in the 7th. Top of the 8th now and O's just retook the lead 10-9 of Urias single. Four steals in this inning so far, and another awarded on balk, all of Chapman (what happened to that guy)
  11. Paraphrased from Oscar Wilde, "Anyone can copy, but it takes a genius to steal."
  12. I don't know about that - even in terms of hockey, several teams have also blown 3-0 leads. Most recently the Sharks vs. the Kings in 2014. The Bruins also blew a 3-0 against the Flyers in 2010. The Bruins regular season performance is really irrelevant to me. After several years of the Caps early playoff exits despite being top seeds. I almost gave up on watching regular season hockey because it means next to nothing beyond earning enough points to get in the playoffs.
  13. Tampa had a pretty epic collapse against the White Sox last night. Behind 4-2 in the top of the 8th they score 5 runs to make it 7-4. The White Sox score a run in the bottom of the 8th to make it 7-5. Tampa tacks on 2 more runs in the ninth to make it 9-5. Then they allow 7 runs in the bottom of the 9th and lose 12-9. The last three runs were the result of a 3 run homer which is why the winning run wasn't the last one.
  14. Yes. But you have to take into account the new OT rules which have caused point and record inflation. Boston had 65 wins and won in OT 11 times. 4 of those were shootout wins. The 95-96 Red Wings had 62 wins. So if you subtract the shootout wins they had less than the Red Wings. Also OT was 5-5 back then, compared to 3-3 today. OT goals were a lot less common
  15. Nice series win ... Urias should not have to sacrifice consecutive games to Gunnar Henderson. I guess the starting pitching decision when Means comes back is pretty easy now ... Kremer either moves to the bullpen or gets sent down On another note, Mateo should probably be batting either leadoff or 2nd. Keeping him in the bottom of the order is almost criminal. He should definitely not be batting behind Stowers, Santander or Henderson
  16. Three walks, three strikeouts by Bautista to end the 9th as Os win 7-4. Schoop in particular, swung at three balls and could have very well walked in a run with the bases loaded.
  17. 100 random Americans You're just as likely to get older ones. My bet is younger people would know the older "classic" songs more than the older people know more recent stuff. Here's a simple one
  18. Louie, Louie maybe. (No one understands the lyrics anyway)
  19. Announcers just had to jinx Cano ... Oh well no damage done. Os up 5-2 headed to the bottom of the 8th
  20. Crazy 9th. That would have been epic if we could have come back from 7 runs down. At least we forced them to use Jansen.
  21. Bradish is making the roster decision easy when Means comes back.
  22. I don't think the offensive will launch from there. An offensive over the Dnipro would face the exact same problems the Russian one did - supply bottleneck at the choke points. Currently the only land connection is the one over the Nova Khakova dam further north - the Antonovsky bridge has not been repaired. Even if it was, Russia can still hit it about as easily as Ukraine did. So it would be hard to transport heavy equipment (i.e. tanks) over the river, or sustain the logisitics for a large force. This is probably a raid to be sure Russia keeps troops there so they can't be somewhere else, thinning out their lines. At best, it is a reserve force that might be able to quickly collapse the entire Zaphorhiza-Kherson line if they achieve breakthrough further east, like around Melitopol. In that case RuAF would risk being outflanked and would almost certainly pull back to Crimea.
