Caleb measured well at over 6’1 and with long arms (32), 9 3/4 inch hands at 214.

Maye at 6’4 and 3/8, 223, 9 1/8 hands (small but not as small as Burrow or Pickett) 32 1/4 arms.

It’s one of the more dangerous things you can do around other people without having to be a total sociopath. It’s very bad, and extremely immature for a guy his age. Shows a complete lack of care for your fellow human when you’re driving a 3,000 pound death machine that fast for ****s. Over 100mph? He’s an actual menace to society for that, any other person or kid in another car can die due to stupidity like that, in the blink of an eye. Happens every day, ruins lives. Pure selfishness. People get far too comfortable driving vehicles in their lives until something crazy happens. Statistically it’s one of the most dangerous things you can do even when you’re doing it correctly. People brush off driving-related crimes too easily.

It’s a shame he’s not getting jail time. His teammates’ girlfriend died that way, as someone else said. It’s ****ing stupid and brings into a question his character and reliability for sure, when you’re talking about a potential second contract.

And it wasn’t on the highway it was in a residential area. Could have easily killed someone.

    **** him.

I would bet he doesn’t run at his pro day and we never get a 40 for him. He’ll just do the scripted passing, maybe some of the other measurables. But he can’t maximize for weight and for 40 speed at the same time and he doesn’t want to appear slower than expected, so my official guess is he just won’t run

Yeah, it’s what I would do if I was in his position. I would gain tons of weight to try and get to 210 (215 if possible, but I doubt it). Then, I would either claim sore hammy or say “take a look at the tape for my speed.” What does it matter what he runs? He’s not a 4.3 guy to my eyes so if he runs a 4.4 or a 4.5. He’s fast as hell, no one is debating that.

Womp womp on Daniels playing games.

I go back and forth like every two days on who I slightly prefer (like 53-47, then 48-52, then 54-46) between Maye and Daniels but these kinds of games are exactly the things that are gonna keep him down.  Probably gonna lock in a slight preference for Maye unless Daniels' pro day answers a lot of questions.

I wanted to see two things:

    1. Weight and how he did on tests at that weight.  My hope was he'd be like 218 and still do reasonably well.

    2. Throw velocity

And we get neither.  Ripparoni ripparoni give me the Maye-aioli

Yeah it’s a bit of a let down. I understand not throwing. I even understand not running or doing drills. But not weighing in is annoying as hell. His justification was complete malarkey, and there is no way you can take it as anything other than he isn’t at the weight he wants to be at (we don’t know if that’s 200, 205, 210,etc.)

QB weight is a big deal, especially if you want him to run as part of the offense. If he was a pure pocket passer, maybe we could overlook it more. Kyler Murray and Howell were short but at least were thickly built. Kyler was 5’10 205. Howell was 6’0 or 6’1 210.Cousins, who isn’t a big guy, was 6’3 214 and he’s a pure pocket guy. Lamar was 6’2 216.

I'm about as pro Daniels as anybody other than our proud LSU/Louisiana battalion of newly minted Commanders fans, but this is serious.

Daniels is now officially off my board of qbs worth taking at pick 2-- until we get a legitimate weight on him, either at his pro day or when he comes to visit us.

The reality is we have no earthly idea what he weighs or how tall he really is. The numbers that colleges report are purely cosmetic.

He could be anywhere from 190 lbs soaking wet to the 210 lbs. he's listed at.

My guess is he's probably under 200 lbs and he's having issues gaining weight; which would be a serious concern if true.

Yeah, if he is sub 205 he would be one of the lightest QBs in the league. And if we would want him to run that’s a recipe for disaster injury wise. We also don’t know how tall he is. He doesn’t look short but he could be closer to 6’3.

And I’m also not confident any numbers from LSU pro day should be taken as gospel. They have every incentive in the world to have him weight more. If I was a team thinking of drafting him at 2, I’m bringing my own scale lol.

  6. Not sure if this was discussed- did you all see that Caleb was not providing his medical records to all teams, only certain teams?

In his circumstances, I support that. Why should Green Bay get to see his personal medical history? Provide it to the top teams that may draft him only.

Also, it would be a pretty clever way to try and pull and Eli if he were to refuse to provide Chicago his medical history and only provide it to the teams he wanted to go to.

Caleb has made 10 mil in NIL money, so he can definitely afford to drop a few slots if he wanted to. I could see him wanting to play in DC or NY.

This could all be moot, and publicly he’s saying he will play in Chicago.

Lying season? The Chargers should take him. I think Bowers is a transcendent talent. I am generally against moving up in this draft, and I don't think we would for a TE, but if he drops that far, I'd go get him. Imagine pairing your new franchise QB with a TE safety blanket that has the talent to be a top 5 TE the day he steps on the field. Give Drake Maye with Terry, Jahan, Brob, and Bowers? Those are great weapons for a developing QB. Reinforce the OL in FA.

Pick 36, 40 and 67 are worth 1295 points on the trade value chart. Pick 10 is 1300 and pick 11, 1250. It would be like a wet dream.

    https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-Value-Chart.asp

Also, back to reality. A lot of guys are posting great numbers. We are going to have a shot at some really good players at 36 and 40.

Logan Paulson brought up an interesting point about Bowers. He was really interested in how much he weighed and how he looked as a blocker. The thought process was he liked him as a pass catcher but was concerned he couldn’t necessarily hold up in line in the NFL and then his value would be decreased slightly because he wouldn’t truly be multi dimensional like Kittle. Still liked him a lot as a first rounder but positional value and the fact that he may not be really large enough could drop him a bit.

Edit- he’s 6’3, 243. If he doesn’t run or jump at the combine, assume he put on weight for weigh in and is actually under 240.

I bet he slides towards middle to late first.

I just watched this and I don't get why people were so mad at him. I mean, the Mason Rudolph comparison was bizarre (all of his comps are weird but I don't like comps anyway). But its not like he is just bashing him here. He just thinks he's too raw to take him where he is being projected and he should sit and learn from a vet QB before playing for a season or 2.

It’s a ****ing absurd comparison. Mason Rudolph had more rushing ATTEMPTS than YARDS every year in college. He is a god damn statue. Maye is not. They are the same size, other than that it’s just ridiculous. So his whole analysis should be subjected to ridicule because of that choice.

I am increasingly enticed by trading back scenarios as I am not completely sold on Maye or Daniels.

I would love it if we can get a pick (2024 3rd rounder) out of the Patriots so they can pick who they want out of Maye and Daniels.

Then from #3 spot then trade with Chicago Bears for a nice package of picks (2024 #9 pick, 2024 4th round, 2025 1st round pick).  Bears can pair up Caleb Williams with MHJ and we can draft our LT of the future at #9 and be ready with additional draft capital to overhaul the roster.

    No thank you

No offense, but why does Sam "excelling" in a new scheme matter?

Assuming he's on the roster, he's the 2nd or 3rd string QB.

It's just odd to me how many posters are concerned about his development....

    No offense taken.

I think having a high quality backup QB (sort of a “dirty starter” type like Foles) can be critical as the team gets better. It’s actually tough to find a good backup QB where you can win a few games and remain competitive if your starter gets nicked up. This can be seen in the backup QB market with pretty significant salaries for guys who are decent but not great.

Believe me, I’m not some Howell truther but he showed enough for me to not give him away for nothing with two years of control.

And I won’t complain one bit if the new staff disagrees.

I think a third rounder would do if for me, because Howell still has starter potential for another team, but is pretty unlikely to play a truly significant role now that we can draft a blue chip guy at #2.

I know some love Sam but we would be crazy not to trade him if we could get a 3rd (supposedly the Jets and Patriots are inquiring)

Yeah I like Sam a lot as a backup and potential starter, and I love the Maye/Howell QB room, but you would be nuts not to take a mid to high 3rd. Comp pick third?

If we weren’t going to run some sort of air raid, I’d do it in a heartbeat but I think he’s doing to really excel in this scheme.

  12. Having the second pick in a QB class like this is really exciting.

While I prefer Maye’s upside and tools, I won’t be upset if the FO likes Daniels and has a plan for him. And his maturity, growth and running ability makes it pretty unlikely he busts (barring injury, which is my main fear).

Both seem to check all the boxes on work ethic and character.

I see Big Ben and Josh Allen as high end comps for Maye. Which is phenomenal, but there is definitely boom/bust there. Low end could be a guy like Blake Bortles. The arm and improvisation and execution in bad circumstances intrigue more.

I think Daniels low comp would be Tyrod Taylor/Geno and his high end would be Hurts- maybe Lamar Jackson/Deshaun Watson, but I think that’s generous.  He’s careful/ cautious with the ball (good and bad) and I could see the FO wanting more consistency and less turnovers even if the high end isn’t as spectacular (minus the running ability, which is sort of a double edged sword you don’t really want to overuse). I’m also really interested in what he weighs and what he runs (I want him to be at least 6’3 210 and run or 215 if he doesn’t.)  I don’t think he will be 6’4, probably 6’3 to 6’3 a half.

I think Maye is going to be 6’4 and a half and probably 235-240. I want him to show he’s worked on his footwork and make the easy throw look easy in the drills.

I think both players probably hit to some degree and get second contracts.

EB not only deployed the worst ‘strategy’ I’ve ever seen with a young QB, but now has the worst parting statements I’ve ever heard.

    😂

For anyone still wondering why this dude had umpteen interviews and never got hired, see the above.  Phew.

Yeah, even if it’s accurate (possibly he was offered some BS assistant role on staff that he declined) it makes him look pathetic.

Something Keim brought up on one of his last podcasts contradicts something which has been speculated about by a number of our local media geniuses.

I have heard, at the very least, JP Finlay, Nicki Jhabvala, Ben Standig and Mitch Tischler all talk about how the 3 coaches who are on the staff which were retained were partially retained because they were under contract, and why not. When I heard that, I thought immediately that seemed like something Snyder would do, but not Harris and not Quinn.

So Keim said each of the 3, who are Ryan Kerrigan, Bobby Engram and Tavita Pritchard, interviewed for their jobs, and were extended to align with the rest of the coaching staff.

So it wasn't just "yeah they can hang around until their contract is up."

I actually thought the reports from the reporters I mentioned, and whoever else jumped onto it, was irresponsible and lazy at best.

I'm falling out of love with JP.  I think he's just been spending too much time with BMitch. He still gets some stories here and there, but I think he's getting lazy and I think he's getting more "shock jockey" with hot takes.

Anyway, I thought the fact the 3 remaining position coaches were extended was an important piece of information which might get missed.

BOO to the rest of the reporters.  Keim gets it right.  And he validated it 7 times, I'm sure.

Yeah Keim is a legit journalist you can trust. He doesn’t just say stuff, it’s backed up by multiple sources. Also, when he’s just stating opinion he usually says that too.

    Maye is Joe Burrow now.

Ok I take it all back, I’m in :rofl89:

Pretty sure he meant as far as how Burrow was viewed in the draft as far as a sure thing vs potential project, not as an NFL comp. He’s written pretty extensively about Maye in the past.

Maye looks a lot like Josh Allen to me as a high level comp and Jordan Love on the low end.

Intangibles and work ethic, high end tools, production at young age, processing and playmaking, all make me pretty bullish on Maye. But any QB can fail, and if he does we take our shot again in a few years.

I really like Winfield as well.  I would hate to let Curl walk but he doesn't get the turnovers we are looking for.

Don't forget that Derrick Forest is an incredible ball player and has elite ball skills.  He is going to be our starting FS

Jartavius Martin is going to be a stud and has locked down the nickle position.

Forbes should elevate his play in Quinn's defense as well.

Juste is here incase Forbes flops, but Juste being teammates with Winfield in college will only help get him here in DC.

Resign Fuller for sure....he's a ballplayer and makes plays.  Hope he gives us a bit of a hometown discount (11M/yr)

    RCB  Fuller

    LCB  Forbes

    NB    Martin

    FS    Forest

    SS    Winfield

    Wishlist on defense:

Jadaveon Clowney, Chase Young and/or Isaiah Simmons.  All 3 of these guys have elite traits for sure.  Probably a pipe dream but I want to think Quinn could get Chase Young to play to his potential.  But I think Simmons could be really special and affordable.

    Chase Young, seriously?

Why the **** would he want to come back?

    Why would we want him?
