  1. I like 1 but I feel like none of the above would be my choice because I don’t like taking Lloyd at 11 and think he would not be the BPA under pretty much any likely draft scenario.
  2. If you run your route and you have 3 steps on the defender, but the QB underthrows the ball so bad you have to stop, and then jump with the defender to catch it, but still make the catch with the defender draped all over you. (see Exhibit A, Terry Mc)
  3. “Inside linebacker with throwback size but also throwback athleticism that fails to fit cleanly into today's brand of football. Beavers is a phone-booth linebacker who is well-schooled in taking on and slipping blocks between the tackles but can be overwhelmed by athletic opponents when forced to move and play in space. He plays too stiff-legged and with a lack of desired agility, which gets him tangled up in traffic more than teams might like. He'll need to lean into a role as a thumper to make a team, which will require improvement in consistently attacking and discarding blockers. Beavers has a challenging road ahead of him but his background as a core special-teamer helps.” https://www.nfl.com/prospects/darrian-beavers/32004245-4179-4435-46df-ffda0df989a5 Not athletic, yet he had a better 3 cone than some other guys, including Muma. Something doesn’t fit.
  4. Only way I disagree with you is I can envision a scenario where Wentz is OK, not great and our defense looks great and that will save Rivera. I’m most disappointed in the defense and if it doesn’t get fixed this season you really have to question the entire operation. It’s just not that difficult to improve a defense that it takes more than 3 years, if you know what you’re doing.
  5. QBs always rise. Lots of talk now Malik Willis goes #2 to Detroit.
  6. I think we address TE in FA with a stop-gap veteran who can play for a few weeks while Thomas heals. I’m sure someone will be available. We can’t draft a guy because we already have son youngsters and you can’t plan on a rookie TE starting immediately. RB we can and will draft because it’s deep and there will be a valuable guy there. I hope we address ILB in FA soon. Safety IMO is also a real need, as we released two guys who played significant snaps for us next year.
  7. It seems like folks are pretty much on board with a DB at 11 if it’s a blue chip guy (one of the 3 guys we’ve talked about- Stingley, Sauce, or Hamilton) I know it may be unpopular, but what are your some of your thoughts on drafting DE/DT as BPA. Very possible a guy like Thibodeaux, Travon Walker, or Jordan Davis could be staring us in the face at 11. Maybe there isn’t a trade down partner. Davis seems like more of a 2 gap NT. Could he fit in our scheme? Along with Devin Lloyd, he is one of the guys I would be most apprehensive using 11 on. I see lots of ways he fails to produce at a level befitting a top ten player (in my view at 11, you need to draft a top ten blue chip player because you’re almost guaranteed a QB or random guy is overdrafted). Anyone want to offer some thoughts on pass rushers or Dline?
  8. I always just figured it would be a Hog version of Douglas MacArthur. Sunglasses, pipe, etc.
  9. I think what frustrates me more than anything about this team is we have a defensive minded head coach. Not a bright offensive coordinator/play caller turned HC. But he can’t seem to fix the defense. He’s also the GM, so he shops for the ingredients and cooks the meal so to speak, and it’s sucked. Why is that? Scheme? Players? Either way, if Rivera can’t make this a respectable unit in 3 years, which many other teams have done, he needs to be gone. I get that the bar is low here for coaches and he’s a good culture setter, etc. but there just is no excuse for not getting at least above average performance out of the defense going into a third year. It’s absurd.
  10. A second next year like the Sweat trade to move to later in the 1st might do it. I think he’s a trade down target with a team like the Steelers at 20, but I don’t think we get him if he gets to the Saints or GB.
  11. I could see it. I just don’t see him as the BPA there but there is a lot to like about him. Trade down target? I know he has worked with Terry and Terry raves about him. And I trust Terry’s judgement on WRs- seems like Olave is going to put in the work.
  12. You quoted me but then go on to say a bunch of stuff I didn’t say… I like Hamilton a lot. Are you just arguing with unspoken criticism from other people? I said he had great range and doesn’t look slow.
  13. Watching Hamilton highlights and he doesn’t look like slow. He has huge strides and covers a lot of ground, going from sideline to sideline to intercept passes. I agree, he looks like a FS who can also do some other things. Great pursuit angles and hands. More of a wrap up/sure tackler vs a violent striker. I think he would be wasted playing predominately SS, despite his size. He’s not a battering ram in run support like some guys.
  14. Here’s Daniel Jeremiah’s mock that has us taking Hamilton, with London going the pick before. https://www.nfl.com/_amp/daniel-jeremiah-2022-nfl-mock-draft-3-0-packers-nab-2-receivers-in-round-1-after
  15. So what happened last year? Why didn’t he have an impact? I was watching an interview with him from last year and he was speaking to Santana Moss and DHall. He explained that at UNC he only played on the left side. They ran uptempo. With Washington, he was learning to play all of the WR spots. I heard elsewhere he was having problems getting off the press but that he got a lot better by the end of the year in his work on special teams. He has videos on YouTube with his off-season workouts and he’s definitely putting in the work to improve. I think we will see a much better showing from him this year. He was a Dynamic deep threat, which should be helped this year with Wentz taking more deep shots.
  16. I can absolutely see him dropping. I like him but if you don’t, you can say the last similar safety prospect, Isiah Simmons, who was significantly more athletic than Hamilton, has been an absolute bust in the pros. If you don’t like him, you could say he projects as a poor FS, a drag down tackler at SS, and too slow to play CB. And he ran a 4.6 and got injured this year.
  17. https://www.commanders.com/news/mock-draft-monday-here-s-who-nate-davis-has-washington-taking-in-the-first-round?fbclid=IwAR3FuxATC-KnC_JvitmKdZQ-IUzAo1-KBYb7phcs2lKUzG1RhZpYqcEN6VA Mock draft has us taking London at 11. If it fell that way I’d prefer Stingley.
  18. I initially didn’t like the the trade based purely on what we gave up, but the QB market is insane. I wanted to see what Garapalo nets. If he even gets one 2nd I like our trade better.
  19. London is definitely quicker than fast. You made a fair assessment, though. I think he would be a weapon as a chain mover, YAC generator, and red zone target. We have deep threats. I’m always banging the drum for BPA and LT is a sneaky need if there is a guy there. Leno played fine but he’s older and not elite. Cosmi looked good at RT but already has some injury issues and we may lose our swing tackle in FA. OT is a need. Linderbaum is really a nice devil’s advocate for a pure BPA approach because you really don’t need multiple Centers. But if the rumor Logan Paulson mentioned that we are looking to run more zone, perhaps Chase could play some guard for us. Also, he’s coming off injury anyway, so we may need some help at C early on. CB is always a need and I like Stingley a lot and would not hesitate at 11. I just don’t like Davis at 11. I think he would be nice in our rotation but I worry he won’t have the stamina to really get a lot of snaps and won’t replace Payne or Allen. Just too much capital in one position.
  20. Yep. Most likely explanation is that impatient, impulsive, owner was upset about performance in last few games. Time will tell but I find it hard to believe that a GM and coach would choose to get back less than they paid and go into the season with no ****ing QB because Wentz is such a awful player and leader. It’s a horse**** smear campaign, and I hope Wentz takes it personally and delivers for us. Can you believe some of the stuff they leaked out? I would be embarrassed as a Colts fan. GM Chris Ballard noted, "In 4 seasons Carson Wentz has ZERO playoff wins, 48 fumbles." Privately, one Colts coach mentioned "his teammates hate him. He’s terrible for chemistry. He has no heart no desire to win." Another added, "he has the IQ of a potato"
  21. Agree on not going LB. That’s the only scenario where I will be screaming- if we go LB again at 11. Strongly disagree about the London/Docston comparison. breakout age, production, all different. He was the conference offensive player of the year, and he got hurt. London is not going to run a 4.3, which is why he’s not AJ Green and he might actually make it to 11. But he’s a plus possession WR, generates YAC, and red zone target. At any rate, I think Docston’s real issue in the pros was desire and effort. He showed flashes. He was homesick and got hurt and busted due to that (not to go off on a tangent).
  22. I like this in theory but you have to have a player you like at that spot. For me, if we get to pick 11 and say Hamilton is gone but London, Stingley, Linderbaum, and another few players we like are there, I’d trade down. But if we get to 11 and Hamilton is there I’m not trading down. There are like 15 players I like and after that I don’t think it’s worth trading down.
  23. 100% Here’s what I believe happened- Commanders thought he was going to get overpaid, so we didn’t make him a lowball offer, but wanted to see what his market was. Bills made a low/reasonable offer and then got mad that once Commanders found out how cheap it was, Comms said **** we’ll pay that- and McKissic would rather stay here. Basically, he doesn’t have a leg to stand on. It’s one thing if a guy uses your big offer as leverage in a bidding with other teams-that didn’t happen. Beane is mad he didn’t get him at a steal. **** him.
