  1. I’m preemptively getting myself ready for Olave at 11. This is a FO that (over)values character and culture and doesn’t understand draft value (Wentz trade). I’m just hoping that we have inside info from Terry about Olave and that he is a fanatic in work ethic and maturity and has a long productive career. Ty Hilton is the best case scenario, which would be excellent.
  2. Pretty much disagree with your entire post except for the quoted portion. It’s fascinating to me how long of a leash Rivera has, as a defensive minded coach with a veteran d coordinator and some talented defensive players, who has had such awful defensive play. Is his scheme unsound? Poor understanding/buy in from players? Poor coaching? It just doesn’t take this long to fix a defense and Rivera seems to continuously get a pass. It seems like he has some real zeros on his staff (d line coordinator) and he is way too loyal to them.
  3. According to Sheehan, Drake London is their #1 WR, but he doesn’t think they take him over Hamilton, who they really like. Also, says they have 3 OL graded really highly and doesn’t know if they go London over one of them either. Basically, from what he’s hearing they go Hamilton, top OL that slipped, trade down, or London.

  5. I agree and if it’s close it definitely should be offense, but if they have a defensive lineman graded out as a future all pro player and a WR as an average starter I’m taking the DL and figuring it out in FA. You have to find blue chip studs in the draft and then fill holes with later round guys (lottery picks that rarely hit) and in FA IMO. Specific to DL, we have used 5 first rounders but we just let two of our rotational DTs go, so a DT would play significant snaps for us for cheap. Gives us flexibility also if Payne or Sweat don’t want to resign with us. Again, it’s all about value for me and I’m just trying to remain open to an off the wall pick like DT or OL.
  6. People don’t want to hear it, but it’s very very likely there is a BPA at Dline when we pick at 11. I hope we don’t pass on BPA to take an offensive player just because we have been so defense heavy with our past 1st rounders. Logan Paulson had a nice breakdown explaining how Jordan Davis would be a really nice fit for us at NT/3 tech because it would keep our LBs clean and allow them to run around more and not deal with lineman, since they struggle to get off blockers. And if all of the DL goes in the top 10, there probably is a DB or OL that would be BPA. I just hope people can hold it together if we don’t address an immediate need with #11. We really aren’t set at any position and the roster isn’t good enough to forego BPA to find an immediate contributor to eke out another W.
  7. I agree. Also, can’t forget that Payne talked such serious **** to Allen, putting his finger in his face, that team leader and good dude Allen felt it necessary to punch him in the face mid-game. Just a wild guess that Payne may not be the good guy locker room type we want to sign long term…
  8. I like London but that’s a terrifying list. Any stats guys that can articulate a possible correlation not equaling causation, or reason why London’s production shouldn’t concern us?
  9. I think Cross will beat out one of those guys. Probably pushes Cosmi into guard. If not, he’s ready if there is an injury and let’s us move on from Leno after the season and get cheaper and better at OT.
  10. I just saw a trade scenario where the Saints trade 16 and 49 to the Vikings for 12, to pick a QB. I would absolutely take that trade for 11. It’s going to be painful watching the guys we love get picked between our old 2nd and the one we have now.
  11. This may be unpopular but 100% accurate. Ketchup and mustard are bad colors. I do like the new matte burgundy helmets though.
  12. I think I’ll be pretty disappointed if after Day 2 we haven’t added either a RB or WR, or both.
  13. It’s a tough call between the two for me, but I’d lean Hamilton. Only because we can always draft a WR in 2nd or next year, but very unlikely there is a prospect like Hamilton in round 2 or next year. I love his football IQ and versatility and I think he fills a clear need immediately and into the future at multiple spots.
  14. Interesting mock. Has us taking Evan Neal, OT. I like it. Develop him and see if he can beat out either of our starters as a rookie, and if not, try him at guard.
  15. You’re entitled to your own opinion but not your own facts. You don’t like him, got it.
  16. As much as I’d love to keep taking about Drake London 😂 there are others players. For example, I really liked Wyatt, DT from UGA but apparently he’s a POS. Probably a later pick now. “He’s off our board,” an AFC general manager told Walter Football. “If teams are okay with the character, I think he goes between No. 21-32. He has a lot of red flags.” An NFC director of player personnel expressed similar sentiments to Walter Football. Wyatt was arrested in February of 2020 for a domestic incident. He was ultimately charged with criminal trespass, damage to property and family violence — all misdemeanor charges. Walter Football also reports that there were three additional domestic incidents that were unearthed during private investigations.
  17. If this is the case, then don’t take a WR at 11. That all I’m saying. I’m fine with Olave in a trade down. A Brian Hartline type career (route running phenom and his coach at OSU) which would actually be really good and productive career for Olave. Personally, I’d rather chase greatness at another position. I like Olave, he’s a good kid with a nice skill set, I just think if we take him at 11 we would regret it with some of the game-changers that we could have taken (including other positions). But this horse is dead so I’ll leave it alone.
  18. This is what I was trying to say before. Thanks for articulating it better.
  19. I’m a DMV native and Skins fan my whole life. But my kids have grown up in a totally different part of the country (Pacific Northwest), and when I’ve watched games the Skins always lose and Dad is frustrated. As my older son grew up and starting really loving sports (baseball more than life itself, and football too) it was natural for him to root for a team. I never forced my team on them. It’s honestly miserable being a fan of this team with this owner. All I asked for was not hostility or taunting about my team. He ending up adopting the Niners because his friend was one, they are good, and the local Seahawks fans were mean to him about the Skins and he didn’t want to root for their team. Has followed them loyally for a few years now, certainly easier because they are good. I would try and influence Chargers, nice colors, AFC, and good young QB, but it is what it is. Edit- at least he still likes the Nats, although he also likes the Dodgers because his favorite player got traded there.
  20. I mean, they aren’t similar at all, but I loved Santana and that’s a great movie.
  21. No 40 today for Drake London. Ok. We already know he’s fast. 21.4 MPH per @RAanalytics is moving. Only 10 WRs ran faster in the NFL last year per @NextGenStats For context: DJ Moore (WR11) was clocked at 21.38 contested catches=underthrown balls. He has his man beat in a lot of those clips. He’s a big slot like Michael Thomas.
  22. I swear if we draft Olave at 11, because he’s friends with Terry, I’ll pitch a fit. Not Davis level, because I think Olave will be a solid player, but it’s such a massive waste of a high pick. Olave is the kind of guy that is around in every draft from 15 to late first. He doesn’t generate YAC and he doesn’t seem like he will be more than a #2 WR who gets open and catches the ball and then gets tackled. Drake London and Wilson both have superior upside and at least project as a WR1, and there would easily be a BPA OT, DE, or CB available at our pick also. Am I taking crazy pills?
  23. Thanks for sharing that video. From just watching that video, I thought Bo Melton was the most impressive. Wins immediately at LOS and looks fast. I don’t think Pierce looks impressive in that video. CBs seem to be all over him, and he seems to struggle breaking down or changing direction. There is definitely a place for big, fast, strong with good hands even if the route running seems eh, but I’m not huge on Pierce based on that video.
  24. I’d encourage folks to check out the Tailgate Podcast (2 funny PFF guys) who break down prospects and shoot the **** also. They had their top DTs and had Wyatt over Jordan Davis. Concern with Davis was he graded very poorly in the few games where he had more snaps and the concern is he will be a rotational guy in the pros unless he can drop weight and improve endurance. Also, more of a NT. They loved the athleticism but felt some risk there.
