  1. Yeah...I'm a bourbon and rye guy...but I do love Islay whiskey....
  2. Seriously. There was an old bar in the basement. I found it, in the box, behind some cheap ****. I offered the estate sale people $20.00 and they took it. 😆
  3. @The 12th Commandment I blame you for this pour. You will also appreciate this...I paid $20.00 for this bottle at an estate sale last Summer😁
  4. Great choice! I love the 16 year. I might have one later. Thanks a lot, Enabler! Thanks! My Caps pour this afternoon. Might switch to some Lagavulin 16 year later....depending on how the game goes! Let's Go Caps! ROCK THE RED!!!
  5. I mainly drink whiskey out of Glencairns too, but I like to use different glassware at times. No particular reason, except I like the way they look. Right now I'm drinking Old Grandad Bottled-in-Bond out of this fancy glass.😉
  6. Probably, especially with Scotch drinkers. This one was gifted to me as part of a Woodford Reserve gift pack. I re-gifted the whiskey, and kept the glass 😉
  7. Cooper's Craft 100 in the glass. Islanders at Canes on the tube.
  8. Happy Belated Birthday! That's a good one!
  9. If you want another solid, barrel proof whiskey that flies under the radar and is very reasonably priced, pick up a bottle of Old Granddad 114. Pikesville is a great choice. It's so good it may ruin you for other ryes. There are a ton of them. Off the top of my head? Wild Turkey 101, Rare Breed, Woodford Reserve, Old Forester, Old Overholt 114, Knob Creek, Sazerac, Sagamore are all solid. Mrs. Skinsfan likes Elijah Craig & Bulleit. There are just way to many.
  10. This is one of the best barrel-proofers on the market and one of my favorites. For whatever reason, it flies below the radar and is a bargain, as far as barrel proof whiskey goes. You'd be hard pressed to find a better one at that price point. I hope the folks at JD don't realize this and start jacking up the price, (pun fully intended), like Beam did years ago with the Booker's. I have at least a case of different releases and barrel picks squirreled away. Have you tried the rye? It used to be hard to find, but it's getting easier and it's insanely good.
  11. My Mom was there last Fall. In no particular order....The Dohany street Synagogue & Jewish section of the city.....Heroes Square.....Night time cruise on the Danube..views are spectacular, especially of the Parliament Gldgs & chain bridge....."The Shoes" on Danube promenade. They're also know for its thermal spas and she highly recommends guided tours.
  12. Agreed.......and #2 is a big one for us. Mrs. Skinsfan & I scream "shoot!!" so much that we're going hoarse.
  13. You are spot-on with the lifestyle change. I've never understood why people overcomplicate weight loss. Either you commit to eating sensibly & exercising, or you don't.
  14. We get along fine, but I don't see them much, which is okay by me. Mrs. Skinsfan would say the same about my family.
  15. I think that he stayed at a Holiday Inn Express one time...so....there's that... You would think. One would also assume that there will be sufficient infrastructure to facilitate charging them before moving forward.
  16. *Tesla model Y battery. It takes up all of the space under the passenger compartment of the car. To manufacture it you need: --12 tons of rock for Lithium (can also be extracted from sea water) -- 5 tons of cobalt minerals (Most cobalt is made as a byproduct of processing copper and nickel ores. It is the most difficult and expensive material to obtain for a battery.) -- 3 tons nickel ore -- 12 tons of copper ore You must move 250 tons of soil to obtain: -- 26.5 pounds of Lithium -- 30 pounds of nickel -- 48.5 pounds of manganese -- 15 pounds of cobalt To manufacture the battery also requires: -- 441 pounds of aluminum, steel and/or plastic -- 112 pounds of graphite The Caterpillar 994A is used to move the earth to obtain the minerals needed for this battery. The Caterpillar consumes 264 gallons of diesel in 12 hours. The bulk of necessary minerals for manufacturing the batteries come from China or Africa. Much of the labor in Africa is done by children. When you buy an electric car, China profits most. The 2021 Tesla Model Y OEM battery (the cheapest Tesla battery) is currently for sale on the Internet for $4,999 not including shipping or installation. The battery weighs 1,000 pounds (you can imagine the shipping cost). The cost of Tesla batteries are: Model 3 -- $14,000+ (Car MSRP $38,990) Model Y -- $5,000–$5,500 (Car MSRP $47,740) Model S -- $13,000–$20,000 (Car MSRP $74,990) Model X -- $13,000+ (Car MSRP $79,990) It takes 7 years for an electric car to reach net-zero CO2. The life expectancy of the battery is 10 years (average). Only in the last 3 years do you start to reduce your carbon footprint, but then the batteries must be replaced and you lose all gains made. And finally, my new friend, Michael, made some excellent points: I forgot to mention the amount of energy required to process the raw materials and the amount of energy used to haul these batteries to the U.S. sometimes back and forth a couple of times. But by all means, get an electric car. Just don't sell me on how awesome you are for the environment. Or for human rights. * I pasted this from something my brother shared with me on FB YMMV
  17. Isn't that pretty much the type of ending that we've all come to know, and love, with Bollywood movies?
  18. My almost daily breakfast is Fage plain 0% fat yogurt mixed with honey or strawberry preserves and granola.
