  1. First, that was a foul. To say otherwise means you were watching another game. The defender basically stepped in front and blocked the US forward or a body check. I thought it was in the box, but it was very close. Second, an argument exists that the US defender should have gotten a red card. But, I then remembered that Morgan was grabbed and taken down in the box in the first half. I didn't think it was a foul at the time, but if you allow that, you don't give a red card. The better team won today. I have to, for the first time in the tournament, give credit to the US coach. She put the 11 best players currently playing in the tournament on the field and she put the right players in the right formation to beat the Germans. I think the coach was determining in prior games who her best 11 were and decided finally to put them on display. I was critical of her, but I have to give her credit for this game. Now they need to win just one more. Lastly, the US has the best athletes of any team in the tournament. Imagine if Morgan had an extra six months to prepare and play and get that scoring touch back. She had to spend so much time just getting in shape and such instead of simply playing. Part of the game, of course, but she can create goals unlike any other player in the tournament. Finally, I see them playing Japan. Japan is a team I think the US struggles against as they can't exert their will as Japan has the most technically sound players, are disciplined and seem to just give the US trouble.
  2. Good article, but as I was reading it, I kept thinking to myself, how to you know Mr. Ridley? How do you know that genetically modified crops have no effect or that pesticides are safe. Ask some cancer patients about that. That said, he does make some good points. Many articles are published that simply are not true and fuel the people outright debunking the clear fact that man affects the climate for the worse. Also, the Green movement is exaggerated and overblown as serious climate change is not immediate. Ridley calls himself a "Lukewarmer" and even says "Lukewarmers do not think dangerous climate change is impossible; but they think it is unlikely." So, a nice spin on words just like all the people clamoring that climate change is immediate, bad and has to be solved right now. Ridley also says "sensitivity to carbon dioxide is high (which is doubtful)", which I completely disagree with to a point. Widespread sensitivity to Carbon dioxide, doubtful, but what about all the people that will be. I see people now sensitive to all kinds of things which I never remember seeing when I was growing up. Ridley goes on about the scientists that claim a possible 4 degrees warming by the end of the century. I call bull to both Ridley and the scientists he calls out. How the heck do we know if it will or will not warm up four degrees. To raise the red flag is wrong just as much as a simple dismissal is. On a side note, Ridley discusses the "huge financial gravy train that is climate science has distorted the methods of science." Add the meat industry, dairy industry and many others to the list there buddy of people presenting false information with government money. Ridley does strike some good points that a lot of data presented by the scientific community has been shown to be outright false. Which is sad as it just harms the truth. Ridley is also correct when he says that all these scientists presenting all this bad and false data saying "the climate scientific establishment repeatedly reacts as if nothing is wrong. It calls out any errors on the lukewarming end, but ignores those on the exaggeration end." When you are never held accountable for your actions, why not keep publishing false information to keep the grants coming. At least Ridley believes "I think carbon-dioxide-induced warming during this century is likely, though I think it is unlikely to prove rapid and dangerous. So I don’t agree with those who say the warming is all natural, or all driven by the sun, or only an artefact of bad measurement" I like the article as it presents the bad side of climate change, but even Ridley makes assumptions.
  3. First, I call BS on the headlight charge. You cannot get arrested solely for a headlight charge. You can, say get arrested for refusing to sign a summons. I want to hear the other side of the story on the headlight story before making judgement. I am not hear to debate the mistakes, but at least in Virginia you need Probable Cause to arrest someone or a reasonable believe (a reasonable person would believe) someone has committed a crime. Not to bore you with what a crime is, but in Virginia it is any felony or class 1 and 2 misdemeanors. Of course, plenty of exceptions like the one above where you refuse to sign the summonses or refuse to agree to either come to court or prepay the traffic ticket. Another exception is drunk in public. A simple class 4 misdemeanor with no possibility for jail time, but you get arrested and spend time in the drunk tank because it would be a liability to the police department to let you go in your condition. (See lawyer comments in posts above). As far as the lemonade stand, taking a rigid stance with reasonableness, you stop by and advise them they need to change their sign and give a polite warning. If they refuse or disregard the warning, you get tough. Lastly, it sure would be nice to believe every single person that said they were clean, don't do anything wrong, has cleaned up their act, is a good person, not currently committing any crimes and is a law abiding citizen. I mean, no one lies to the cops. Also, not saying Brown himself was guilty of this, but sometimes the cops just aren't lucky. They stopped the drug dealer right after they dispensed with their product and all they have on them is say 10K. Just a guy with some legal currency. Not much you can do but listen to the guy plead innocence and have his boy pick him up in a nice clean ride. Clean ride because he is up the chain and keeps his hands dirty. Lastly, go play poker with a bunch of defense lawyers and listen to the BS they talk about how they get their clients out of legitimate charges. But, since no one lies to the police or the media, I can see where they are coming from.
  4. No, if Star Trek goes back to small screen, they need to refresh with an all new cast. As for when in time, you could start with sometime in the future, reboot the federation, find new enemies and stuff like that. If you want to bring back some old cast just make them guests. The movie reboot worked with fresh stories, quality fresh cast, a guest veteran cast member and so on. Just my two pennies.
  5. Might get another year, but don't disagree that he is done for the rest of this season. They can get by in the Bundesliga, but will greatly miss him in the Champions League.
  6. Not a good day for the Bundesliga defending champions Lost 0-2 - http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/mar/22/bayern-munich-borussia-monchengladbach-match-report Lost Arjen Robben for at least several weeks that is probably worse then the defeat - http://www.fcbayern.de/en/news/news/2015/news-in-brief-220315.php
  7. Just in case anyone missed the highlights this afternoon. Good friend of mine was at the game (Lucky ****) http://worldsoccertalk.com/2015/03/07/watch-hannover-1-3-bayern-munich-match-highlights-video/
  8. When I was stationed overseas I got to see them play a few times in the old Olympiastadion in Munich. Edit: Jobaga, I am a big fan of Schwensteiger and Lahm is a class act. I loved listening to the announces saying Schwensteiger's name during the world cup. My wife loves Neuer and is a big fan of Lahm as well.
  9. At 49 points, my team headed to another title. http://www.bundesliga.com/en/stats/table/ Cranking things up http://www.bundesliga.com/en/liga/news/2014/0000312832.php Shakhtar Donetsk (Ukraine) next up Champions League play http://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/season=2015/matches/round=2000549/match=2014410/prematch/background/index.html Just in case anyone wanted to know.
  10. That the niners didn't hire Fangio is not so much the issue. They probably didn't feel comfortable. It just seems odd to promote the line coach to head coach, especially considering the more qualified candidates in the marketplace. Kind of feels like a power move. The GM didn't want a coach coming in that would challenge for power like the previous one.
  11. Welcome news if true, but I would like to see someone besides AJ Smith, who to me is a retread.
  12. I want more than one pro bowl caliber player on the Oline. Sets the tone for the rest of the team.
  13. 1. Need someone to develop a long term plan. 2. Need someone that can consistently draft quality players and pick up some quality FA's. 3. Leave the rest to BA.
  14. I still like Bruce as a VP of operations and contract guy, just not a personnel football specific guy. We need a GM to pick the coach, pick the scouting department and acquire the talent during the off season. I don't think the size of the scouting department matters as much as the quality of the scouting department. Just look at the current roster of drafted players and the results speak for themselves. Keeping and developing draft picks has generally not been the problem. Drafting the right players in the first place has been the biggest problem. I will add that BA has not done a bad job at bringing in FA's. He has not done great, but we have done much worse prior to his arrival.
  15. In the Fußball-Bundesliga Standings I see my team, Bayern, is in third to start the season. Have to pick it up, and take care of any EPL teams come the UEFA Champions league matches. Lewandowski needs to produce, despite getting him for free. Maybe the United front office should pay attention how they do things in Munich.
  16. Commenting on your post, I think it depends on your players. A straight 4-4-2 vs a defensive/offensive central players 4-4-2 should depend on the talents and style of your players. I agree, however, that you should always have 2 up front. I don't like the 4-5-1 style.
  17. It is all about player acquisition. Coaching staff is good enough to win. Bruce will be defined by the players he brings in. Yes, Brown and Campbell will be there, but BA has stated he has final choice. If he brings in quality players then this coaching staff wins. If he fails, then this coaching staff fails. Really, not that hard to understand. Watching the two championship games, with all the quality players on display, proves my point. Heck, Seattle just sits in base defense most of the time and dares you to beat them. Dares you to challenge their quality players. Gibbs II failed as a GM. Shanny failed as a GM. Vinny failed as a GM. I am just hoping that BA does not fail as well.
  18. Can't seem to find an online radio station to use.
  19. A little disappointed in the offense so far. I expected more, but the defense has been playing well.
  20. Watching them on TV just mad me think how much I hate the pukes.
  21. Getting tired of reading all the new posts from puke fans proclaiming their greatness. F Dallas
  22. I just plain hate the pukes. Let the skins be victorious today.
  23. For my 10,000th post I think ***** Dallas is an appropriate post.
  24. I hated them in 2007 and I still hate them in 2008.
  25. No better week to hate the pukes then this one.
