  1. You must be right because he wasn't penalized but it sure did look like a goodbye wave to most of us.
  2. Hope we can keep em both....gotta keep our drafted players if they're productive, helps build the culture and continuity.
  3. I'll do you one better, I don't think the WFT is out of wild card contention...If we get to 7 wins, including wins over SF and Carolina, and the NFL goes to 8 playoff teams. I can see a road to the wild card with 7 wins if things break right. In fact, I think the 8th place finisher in the NFC is likely to only end up with 7-8 wins and tiebreakers will likely come into play. By the way, Carolina at 4-8 is becoming a must win game for the WFT. We can't let them beat us at home...
  4. If I'm Settle I'm outta here unless they make room for me to start and they pay me. I think Ion has been our best DT when he plays, great motor and good pressure. He reminds me of a poor mans Dave Butz from the 80's. I would bet that Settle has a market but that's just a guess.
  5. Look at the chances we've blown over this part of the schedule.... NYG L Dallas W NYG L Detroit L Cincy ???? Dallas ???? Could've easily gone 4-2 or better over this stretch yet we're staring at 1-5.....Why do we start games so sluggish? Are our linebackers really that bad? Call me crazy but I think one of the strengths of this team is the WR's?
  6. I always thought Ion was our best interior lineman and I still do. Very disappointed in our defensive line play overall this year. We should be moving Chase around more and keeping Kerrigan in. I don't know how much Chase has played on the interior but I would show some looks with him in the middle, either replacing one of the tackles or even as a 5th linemen. Make him more of a Swiss army knife and move him around. But maybe I'm way off base here.... Well said, I agree with all of this. I don't know what the answer is but Chase and Sweat should be much better if our interior push was better. We miss Ion badly and that's bad because we have two 1st round picks up the middle. Even Jonathon Vilma commented that our d-line needed to be better.
  7. Long season, injuries play such a huge part. We should now have a great shot to beat the 49ers, Detroit is winnable as is the Carolina game. One week at a time....build momentum.
  8. Reading quotes from the players, I think they expect to get better and better...it's like Kyle Allen being inserted gives the entire team a lift. Will be interesting to see if we add anyone, maybe a linebacker or safety, WR, TE at the deadline????
  9. Its a great thread and I'm honored to be a part of it. Who can forget the 3-6 Skins with RGlll and Almo running the table to win the division in 2012? Anything is possible.
  10. Disagree on the 49ers...Jimmy G can be had. With no turnovers and good defensive play we can beat the Niners. They aren't the same team as last year. The Eagles beat them.
  11. Eagles schedule: Cards, Saints, Seahawks, Packers, Browns, WFT, Boys, Boys, Giants.....With 9 games to go you have the Eagles winning 5 of them which, given these remaining games will be a challenge. WFT schedule: Lions, Bengals, Niners, Steelers, Panthers, Eagles, Giants, Dallas, Seattle...with 9 games remaining do we see 5 wins for the WFT? At most I see 5 wins here with 3 being more likely. I'm ruling Dallas and NYG out given their weaknesses, injuries, etc...this is a 2 horse race with the head to head game likely deciding the division all things considered.
  12. If not able to get Trevor Lawrence: Sign Cam Newton Draft Micah Parsons round 1 Draft O-line rounds 2,3 Sign stud free agent WR Sign solid free agent Safety Sign Solid O-line free agent Happy Thanksgiving for everyone.
  13. If I'm Dallas I am on the phone with Miami offering a 7th for Fitzmagic right now....he'd be great with that cast of WR's if the line can protect him. Hell, I wish he'd come here.
  14. That's exactly what the Browns have been doing for 30 years plus.....Maybe we should've taken Tua or Herbert this year? Some franchise QB's turn out that way because of the offensive systems they are in and the team put around them, others are just tremendous talents. Would you consider Cam Newton a franchise QB at this point and would you take him right now and for the next 5 years? I actually think I would....
  15. The 83 Redskins averaged 34 points a game and set an all time NFL record for points scored in a season that wasn't broken until Randall Cunningham, Randy Moss, Cris Carter and that awesome Vikings team back in the day. Gibbs came from Air Coryell so don't say the game is much different. Rypien had a game with 6 TD passes in the playoffs against Atlanta in 91. You can build winning teams without the franchise QB although it helps to have one. Dan Marino never won a Super Bowl and really only came close once when the Niners blew him out as a rookie.
  16. Just last year the 49ers made and nearly won the Super Bowl with a subpar starting QB....Jimmy G. is far from a franchise QB. By and large you are correct but Nick Foles (not even a starting QB) just won a SB with the Eagles and he beat the all time "franchise" QB in Brady. San Fran's formula of defense and running the ball last year took them far. Peyton Manning won a Super Bowl in Denver with no arm due to a great defense. Football will always be about winning in the trenches...The Titans went into Baltimore last year and proved that when Derrick Henry and the defense dominated the Ravens.
  17. I'm with ya.....the way to do this is to go with the formula that won Joe Gibbs 3 rings, build the offensive line and fill in the blanks around it. Draft a stud linebacker and offensive linemen in rounds 1-3....find a TE and WR(s) in free agency (Smith-Shuster and Ertz?) Gibbs won with serviceable QB's and added key pieces where needed (Jim Lachey, Wilbur Marshall). His constant focus was on a dominant offensive line and running game to set up the downfield passes. It shouldn't be that hard to figure out if you attack the offensive line as a priority. The defensive line is set.....Sign a vet QB and build around him.
  18. Check out the 1983 Redskins....that team still owns the NFL record for turnover differential (+43)....no other team has better than (+28). That's an amazing record that may never be sniffed.
  19. So the NextGen stats say that we have the worst rated LG and 2nd worst rated LT in the entire NFL starting on our left side of the 0-line....How do we handle this? Where is Donald Penn? When do we put Sahdiq Charles in there?
  20. Seems the coaching staff is pretty high on the RB stable with RR even giving a shout out to Peyton Barber. I'm guessing Gibson gets sprinkled in all over the field, probably even some wildcat?
  21. Thanks for this perspective....I live in the Philly area and have been told time after time by people with way less knowledge of the Skins organization that the Redskins will never be good until the owner is gone. I always thought that was an overstatement and that a good football mind could save the ship. Your comments make sense in that Dan will always find a way, even if he doesn't know it, to screw things up. The only way Dan can save himself and this organization is to move to Europe and trust someone to run the organization while he handles only top business matters. He should not be seen at home or away games and should remove himself from all owners meetings, etc....(if the NFL would allow him to send a rep in his place). Maybe once the organization turns itself around he can come back and be seen.
  22. This situation reminds me of my 76ers a few years back when the tanking got so bad that the league assigned an NBA official, Jerry Colangelo, to go in and run the team. He ended up naming his son as the GM and things GOT WORSE!!!!! I expect the NFL to assign someone like Tony Dungy or Tony Gonzalez, maybe someone else, to go inside the organization and monitor things....along with a suspension of Danny for a year.
  23. Not disputing what you're saying or downplaying the issue....But, does anyone remember Jerry Jones escapades just a few short years ago involving women? How bout Robert Kraft? Jim Irsay? Those three were all caught with their hands in the cookie jar. How can the league owners run Dan out of the league while not the others?
