  1. This is a huge point....Mahomes is a product of a professional baseball player. If he played baseball as a kid then he can slide.
  2. You may be the only one who WANTS this but I would be on board with this plan if the coaches felt the best approach was to let the rookie watch for 6-10 weeks while Sam got to show what he's improved on this offseason. I definitely agree with the position that a lot of damage can be done by throwing a kid in too soon as opposed to getting them ready over the course of the season. With a new balanced approach on offense and an improved offensive line Sam ain't gonna kill us even if he's not the future franchise QB here. I'm not giving up on Sam until this new regime does.
  3. Tom Waddle was on Sirius XM radio today and offered some great insight on the Bears and Fields; said it's virtually a certainty that they move on from Fields and draft Caleb Williams. Waddle covers the Bears and is somewhat of an insider for them from what I gathered. He also suggested that the Bears will trade Fields "sooner than later" because they want to stay ahead of the QB market drying up. If it all plays out like this, we become the #1 phone call teams make to go up and get the QB they want....what kind of crazy offers could we receive? Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Vegas, Minnesota, NYG, NE, TB, Seattle, Denver, New Orleans all could be in the market for a QB. Would you take three 1sts and a 2nd rounder from Atlanta to drop down to pick 8? Peters had better really like Maye or Daniels to sit tight and take one of them if he passes up any offer similar to this.
  4. I like how you think.....but I'd really like to see Whitt make Da'Ron and Allen the most feared tandem of defensive tackles in the league. I wanna see consistent pressure like the Rams with Aaron Donald and the Browns with Garrett.
  5. Curiously, how can you make such a definitive judgement about a guy going into his 2nd year? I assume you've accounted for what he learned in year one, how he'll be coached, what he'll do in the weight room? For all we know Stromberg could end up being a pro-bowler....there is a rookie/2nd year learining curve still right?
  6. How would Baker Mayfield look here? Seems like a Quinn type of guy......draft Harrison. Baker is 28 years old, Bruce Arians raves about Baker Mayfield.....its just a question, Mayfield's a former #1 overall pick. 28 td's, 10 picks, 4044 yards this past season.
  7. And by hiring a new coach who completely changed the culture but your points are certainly valid. I only bring this up because I think Quinn is a huge part of our being successful moving forward.
  8. I go back to St. Juste saying how hard the defense was to pick up and how they seemed to do more thinking than attacking under old man Jack. It was great to hear Whitt talk about moving guys around, creating disguises and mismatches. I always think about how the Eagles moved Reggie White around and how the NYG moved LT around at any time. As Joe Gibbs would say, there was really no game planning against them because they'd line up at different places throughout the game. When Whitt said you have to prove yourself in practice to be a focal point guy on gameday that's putting guys in position to make plays which equals $$$$$ for them. Isn't it two years in a row now where Dallas had a guy have like 9 picks? Diggs and Bland? That likely isn't by accident.....hopefully that's Forbes next year.
  9. I never thought Washington Football Team sounded so good until we became the Commanders. If we could just go back to that it would be better. We're gonna need to win a SB to finally accept the name Commanders aren't we? There was something cool about being the only team in American professional sports that didn't have a name, just a city.
  10. You coach up all of your players, especially a 23 year old QB who passed for just short of 4000 yards with 21 TD's in his 1st season as a starter on a poorly coached team.
  11. Sam Howell is just 23 years old and is about to be coached by a much more focused coaching staff who won't put nearly as much pressure on him as the previous regime did. I could see his career playing out similar to Baker Mayfield's where he takes a step back before moving forward. I love the toughness of Howell; if he's as mentally tough as he is physically I think he'll make it in the NFL for someone. I hope our staff sees something in him and coaches him up as a real asset be it as a backup or starter somewhere down the road. Sam can sling it and run, just needs to learn and grow into better decisions given more support.
  12. It's hypothetical, but getting two 1sts, a 2nd and a third plus a young QB with potential to be coached up is a pretty good haul. Again, it would all be what Kingsbury thinks he could do with Fields and how much he likes/loves him as his QB? No telling what the Bears pick will be next year with a rookie QB...could be Houston this year or Carolina?
  13. Justin Fields is gonna have a lot to say with how this draft plays out, even though he won't have a say in it. What if Kingsbury likes Fields and the Bears covet our #2 pick....who's to say something like this doesn't happen: Bears get Commanders #2 overall, 2025 4th. Commies get Bears #9 overall, Justin Fields, Bears 2025 1st, Bears 2025 3rd. If Washington did this deal, they could then move up in the draft or back while having Fields as the QB in Kingsbury's offense, a cross between Kyler Murray and Lamar Jackson. I'm not advocating for this but it's a very nice haul for the #2 pick. Maybe the Bears want MHJ so bad that they do a deal like this? Peters then has tons of picks to play with and two young QB's (including Howell) to let his coaches play with for a year. 2025 has two 1st round picks to play with like the Bears have this year. Just imagine what Peters could do with the #9, two seconds, two thirds and two firsts next year plus two third round picks. Sure the risk is that Maye or Daniels becomes a stud and Fields bombs but history shows that's unlikely.
  14. Your point about how Joe Gibbs won coming out of the NFC East as opposed to Walsh in the NFC West can't be emphasized enough. Hell, winning the NFC East back in the 80's was probably harder than winning the Super Bowl. Look at the coaches in the NFC East back then.....Gibbs, Landry, Parcells and the Eagles had Dick Vermeil/Buddy Ryan. Jimmy Johnson came to Dallas in 1989 so that's 5 HOF coaches from the same division in the 80's. And Gibbs won 2 SB's in the 80's with 3 NFC Championships. Pretty impressive.
  15. I hear ya, but, comparing any kid coming out of college to Patrick Mahomes doesn't seem right. Mahomes has won 3 SB's and is on a planet by himself in the history of the game. CW is not the next Mahomes, no one is.....However, if the scouting report is that great on CW then I guess we need to get him?
  16. Option A: trade up for CW at the cost of two firsts and a 2nd this year Option B: stay at #2 and take a QB Option 😄 trade a 2nd and 4th for Justin Fields, take Harrison at #2. Let Fields and Howell battle it out for future Commanders QB Option d: trade for Fields, trade out of #2 pick with Atl or LV and get a haul back, including another 1st next year. Option e: trade out of #2 and take one of the 2nd tier QB's while getting a haul of picks. Pick your poison.
  17. Merrill Hoge put some negative stuff out there on Caleb Williams today.....I remember when he trashed the Tim Tebow pick and he was spot on (as many were).
  18. Our heads are gonna be spinning once free agency and the draft talk heats up....it really does feel like a different organization now with all of the admin and coaching changes.
