  1. You're right, but so has blowing the pick cost jobs right? If you take the motherload of an offer you get more picks and chances that you'll hit. I remember wondering if we should trade back before we took Chase Young because of the injury factor. It's less likely 3 or 4 picks get injured vs 1 guy right? But a stud is a stud and you gotta take the stud right? Chase ended up missing about as many games as he played. This is what sports is, making the best decision for your team. Some guys will be more aggressive and roll the dice while some guys will play it safer. It's all a mindset. For me, if Peters isn't convinced that Maye or Daniels aren't clearly better prospects than McCarthy, Penix, Nix, Rattler, etc. then he should move around while assuring he gets one of the QB's that he believes can play in the league. We need football players....period. Lots of them. We also need a QB. Peters needs to decide how to get them all and of course we'll all have our own opinions on how he should go about it. That's what makes this site fun.....the banter.
  2. I'll have to go back and find it, the report said that the Commanders are gonna make the Bears say NO to trading the #1 pick. Pretty sure I read it this morning. It's an SI article. https://www.si.com/nfl/commanders/news/washington-commanders-trade-draft-rumor-report-caleb-williams-chicago-bears
  3. Just a thought, I saw the report today that we are gonna press the Bears hard to trade us #1 overall so we can get CW. Does that say more about how great we think CW is gonna be or how much we're not crazy about the guys who fall to us at #2? And is the report even true? Something to keep an eye on?
  4. Living in fear vs living in analytics and percentages. Last two #2 overall picks for Washington: RGlll, Chase Young. We'll see how this goes. Faith in our staff.
  5. These QB's are a crapshoot, history shows most of them will bust. We can't afford a bust at #2 overall like what's happening in Carolina. Trade back and take the risk later in the draft, get the motherload offer and draft more players! Ask the Jets....Panthers....Niners.....Falcons.....NYG........Patriots. Learn from history.
  6. I did not know that Russ Wilson threw for 26 TD's with just 8 picks this past season. Had he finished the season as the starter he would've possibly sniffed 30 TDs. Someone is gonna bring him in, I could see Pittsburgh as a great option for him.
  7. Assuming the Bears take Williams #1 overall, thinking way outside the box and covering all options on the table as Peters said they would do, I would compare these QB's to see which direction would give us the highest percentage of hitting on a franchise QB: Maye, Daniels, McCarthy, Penix, Nix, Rattler, Justin Fields, Sam Howell. IF, Peters is not convinced that the guys in the draft are slam dunk picks compared to what he has in Sam Howell or could trade for in Justin Fields then I think I would try and do the following: Trade our 3rd obtained from SF for Justin Fields. This is assuming Kingsbury likes the potential he sees in Fields. Trade out of #2 overall and get the draft haul with Atlanta (ask for 3 firsts and this years 2nd, throw them a 2025 5th rd pick). We are now left with Fields, Howell, five 1st round picks over the next 3 drafts. Trade back again with Vegas and pick up an additional 1st round pick next year. Make it 6 first round picks over the next 3 drafts. Take whoever the staff wants with our 1st obtained from Vegas and the three 2nd round picks we have this year plus the one 3rd. We would have a full season to evaluate Fields and Howell to see what Kingsbury can do with both of them. Both of these guys have big arms and can run. They have NFL tools. We could also take someone like Rattler with our 3rd round pick if they like him. That's 3 young guys in the QB room, all under the age of 25 and two who have starting QB experience. Fields is the 1, Howell the 2 and Rattler gets groomed for 2 years (ideally). Hear me out. Having Fields in place, sooner than later, lets free agents know that we have an NFL caliber QB in place which hopefully makes Washington a more desirable spot to play than not having a QB entering the start of free agency. The draft capital we will have over the next 3 drafts will be unmatched by any team in the league and will provide us with tons of flexibility to move around in the coming drafts. We will find out what we have in Fields and Howell after our new staff gets a chance to coach them. I know next years QB class is considered weak compared to this years but I'm willing to roll the dice that Atlanta is gonna be a top 10 pick again next year. This plan doesn't give you Maye, Daniels or McCarthy but it does give you tons of draft capital and 3 young QB's to develop as your future franchise QB along with several other building blocks at other positions. I'll sit back and take all your punches now....
  8. I agree. At the very least we need to sign 2 o-linemen, 1 LB a corner and a safety. We also need a TE, WR and likely a DE. Did I mention long-snapper? Most of this will need to happen in free agency to just field a competitive team while we fill in with the draft to build for the future. If we lose Fuller and Curl we've got to sign some FA's to make up for those losses I would think? Also, if we're not gonna spend decently big then we should just deal Allen and draft his replacement too or sign the best one we can get in free agency. Looking at the division there are opportunities to win some games if we can bolster the roster. The Eagles defense is already putrid and they're about to lose Swift and Fletcher Cox on top of Kelce. They're also letting Hassan Reddick seek a trade. The NYG are no better than us as long as they have Daniel Jones and they'll probably let Barkley walk....that leaves Dallas as the clear front-runner. I expect to see some real free agents coming to town with all the money we have to spend. The fans deserve to see a full commitment to winning sooner than later.
  9. With the salary cap going up so much and every team having more $$$ to spend I would think more agents will go this route with their free agents. Why sign with team A when you haven't discovered your value with every other team?
  10. Doesn't McCarthy make you think that he's the under the radar guy who could turn out to be the next Montana or Brady in the right offense? He competes, he's an athlete and he wins. Not comparing him to hall of famers but he feels like the sneaky guy who ends up being the best of the group.
  11. I'm curious to see what Fields return is to the Bears when they trade him. After 2 years in the league I think we can safely argue that Sam Howell is at least equal to but likely ahead of where Fields was after 2 seasons. I know Fields was a 1st round pick but I don't think that'll matter much. If teams want Howell I'd say they have to at least match what the Bears get for Justin Fields, in other words, I hope we value Sam as much as the Bears get for Fields. And I'm in no hurry to trade Slingin Sam.
  12. How does Miami sign Tua to a huge deal given his history of concussions? He's one more concussion away from being retired. Buyer beware.
