The longer this goes you have to think that Vrabel and BB become options? And they could even be two of the best options that have been sitting there all along? Think about it, is Quinn or Weaver a better head coach than Vrabel or Bellicheck? Or is the question are they better for this organization than MV or BB?

Josh Harris: "What do you think Magic?" Magic Johnson: "I'd get Belicheck on the phone and talk to him." Harris: "Bob, are any of the candidates left better than Belicheck?" Myers: "That's hard to answer....no, no one can match what he's done in this league." Harris: " How is Andy Reid still winning, if we have the QB can BB still win like Reid is doing in KC?" Myers: " I would think he could." Harris: "Can we find a QB to win with if we hire BB?" Myers: "That would be my job and I believe I could find a QB." Harris: " Call Belicheck, I wanna talk to him."

With the Sixers, Harris has hired proven guys who have won, both Doc Rivers and Nick Nurse have NBA rings and both are NBA vets. Quinn fits this mold outside of the ring which he nearly got. That being said, I think Bob the Builder is gonna make this hire as the final word. It's why Harris hired him.

If we're going QB at some point in the draft (assuming pick #2) then how do we not go with Ben Johnson as opposed to one of the defensive guys thinking that Johnson can develop a young kid better? I wonder if Harris and Peters would value Johnson while knowing he's got room to grow as a leader who will take some lumps but is just too good to pass on because of his overall bright mind. Kind of like what Miami has in Mike McDaniel? As good as Dan Campbell has been, how much credit should go to Ben Johnson for resurrecting Jared Goff in a tremendously designed offense? Also, if we pass on Johnson we just wasted a LOT of time signing the best offensive coordinator and that would be terrible given the need we have to develop a QB. Who's Dan Quinn's OC? Macdonald's OC? Weaver's or Glenn's? We'll find a good D-coordinator who won't be counted on to develop the next franchise QB after hiring Johnson. I'm taking Hitman#21's posts to the bank and saying Johnson makes the most sense for us and us for Johnson. Maybe Johnson met with Seattle to see what their offer is and use it to get the Commando's to up their offer. Could be a strategic thing that his agent pushed for?

I remember how furious Marvin Lewis was with Lavar Arrington because he would always "freelance" and breakdown the entire defensive scheme trying to make plays. It was a very similar situation to how Chase Young's career played out in Washington....Highly hyped, top 3 pick in the draft, disappointing career. Chase likely cost himself a bunch of suitors and a lot of money with that play on Sunday and the way Shanahan is going public with it. We should hear from his dad soon.

Good post...seems to me that the million dollar question for the defensive candidates is "who is your OC going to be and how do you develop young QB's"? Johnson would have the clear advantage there. All things being close as far as leadership skills, game planning, track records I'd think the offensive system and QB development questions loom largest. I'd assume that's a big reason why Johnson is the favorite?

2024 NFL Draft Position/Tracker - Final Pick #2
kingdaddy replied to zCommander's topic in The Stadium
I would like to see Gibbs and Montgomery on the field together using Gibbs as a slot guy where they use him on screens, as a decoy, crossing routes all while Montgomery can pound the ball. They could run Gibbs on jet sweeps too.... -
That 91 Redskins team was pretty much unbeatable....we can only dream to see a version of that team again. Every week we knew we were going to win...and only once did we lose unexpectedly. Week 16 we pulled the starters in Philly and lost a game that didn't matter. Rypien was something...he knew where to go with the ball and almost everywhere he threw it someone was wide open. I went to that parade...rainy day and kind of a ho-hum, we won again parade. Memories.

Ok boss, you stick to your opinions, if you don't like my posts then you have the option to block me. From now on I'll try and agree with popular opinion so you like me better. LOL. BTW, if Quinn was such a horrible candidate then why are so many teams, including the Commanders, wasting their time on him? Don't worry about answering that cause I know how this will end.
