  1. Can't wait {sarcasm} to hear how sheehans going to spin amerson getting released. Cuz it's not possible that it's shannys fault.
  2. i agree. one thing that stuck out to me last night that i recall being an issue when he was here- he can come out guns blazing in the first half. but then, in the second half, it seems the defense often catches up. it always drove me nuts that he never seemed to adjust to the oppositions adjustments. there was a game in dallas years ago that epitomized this and i've never forgotten- we were pounding the ball, and it just started working. in the second half, we virtually abandoned the run and seemed to go into video game mode, trying to throw bombs, but lacking the personnel to do it. really weird stuff.
  3. it took sheehan all of about 4 minutes to start lecturing the listeners about a shanahan. at least he makes something resembling a point when it comes to kyle as opposed to mike.
  4. no, hes wrong. brady cheated. but, as to why he got punished like he did, read the new story
  5. sheehan today- "we owe the shanahans alot "........i'm sorry, for what??? for the mess that this team is? well, in part, certainly. but to give mike (i give kyle credit for what he did with robert in 2012) "credit" for anything concerning robert is like giving a doctor who shoots somebody credit for reviving somebody for a few minutes before he dies. "sure, he's responsible for ultimately killing the guy, but for a sec, things were looking really good!"
  6. Grant Paulsen - "winners and losers", said Mike shanahan was a winner cuz he said it would take years for him to become an adequate pocket passer, and Bruce Allen was a loser cuz he was gm when the trade was made for Griff. Okeedokee, then. Not sure what to even say about that.
  7. Don't know why the hell lurch would try to stop eb and jp from arguing about Matt Williams. It's the best radio they've done in forever. Actual, genuine spontaneous non-agenda driven passion. Unless he thinks their bits and games like "George-______-Favre" is a ratings grabber.
  8. "griffin ran off the coaching staff that gave him the best chance to be successful"- kevn sheehan. ok. while i'm perfectly fine with griffin being difficult or even uncoachable, lets not forget a couple of things here. first, mike picked him. second, mike shanahan made more than enough mistakes- outside of picking this guy- to warrant being fired. lets not pretend that this team was a competent QB away from being good under mike shanahan. typical sheehan revisionist history, lips firmly planted on mikes tanned rear end.
  9. Dan Snyder has been a terrible owner, but to think he over rode the wishes of Gibbs or Shanahan (or spurrier- remember the gator-skins) regarding player acquisition is nuts. Kind of like everybody hating Goodell, therefore Brady couldn't possibly be guilty. Shanahan is a great coach, but not a good GM. It's why he got fired in Denver, and probably why he didn't get hired after 4 interviews this past off season. He demands full control.
  10. I get that. I was totally behind the move to bring in Mike as HC and de facto GM. It didn't work cuz Mike isn't a very good GM. I'd love to have him as a HC- his track record as an oc shows he's almost always gotten the most out of his qbs. It also shows he's made some puzzling calls when it comes to picking players (outside of RBs) . Even then, it's his system more than the RBs. He knows offense. Sheehan can't separate the two.
  11. Unfortunately, I missed that on account of getting physically ill once his agenda reared it's ridiculous head. Again.
  12. just like a politician, shanny spins every bad move into someone elses fault. sheehan just cant accept that mike is a very good OC and HC, but not a great GM. its crazy.
  13. just want to repost this, thanks to califan for summing it up very well. http://es.redskins.com/topic/387048-mike-shanahan-tells-all-on-espn-980-rgiii-mcnabb-manning-haynseworth-link-included-w-audio/page-19?hl=%20mcnabb%20%20shanahan the first quote, btw, is kevin sheehan talking about mike shanahan. and, yet, here he is today, once again absolving mike of virtually any blame when it came to his terrible moves.
  14. sheehan just said shanahan didnt want mcnabb. mike has discussed this with sheehan earlier this year. i believe mike never said that- rather, mike talked about dan being the 'most excited' to get mcnabb, which is not the same thing, dummy. good grief, sheehans officially lost his mind. drop the agenda, dude.
  15. sheehans defending of the 2013 draft is a bit shameful. but, what should i expect.
  16. lol. was just talking about ol' bud dry today right next to flying dog. good place to get lunch, friscos.
  17. seems to be an issue with much of sports radio in general here. i remember a few years ago, devin thomas was released by the redskins. instead of believing he was released cuz he couldnt play, lavar and dukes went on a bizarre conspiracy rant. i cant recall their specific claims, but it was something along the lines of 'how could they release such a great player, ....there must be some evil snyder buffoonery at work here'. crazy stuff. but, yes, much of 980s time, in particular, is spent picking apart seemingly benign quotes and basing days worth of broadcasts around the faulty conclusions. and dont get me started on sheehan and his love of shanahan, who flat out told him dan wasnt involved in picking the players, but sheehans convinced otherwise.
  18. i think this view, and the fact that the contact was initiated just outside the box, but carried into the box, as El alluded to, is what the refs would probably cite as the reason for the call.
  19. i'm not a soccer expert, but i was watching with someone who could be considered one. he said if the contact initiates outside the penalty box but continues into the penalty box, its a penalty kick. the closest thing i could find to support that is this- "If a defender starts holding an attacker outside the penalty area and continues holding him inside the penalty area, the referee must award a penalty kick." http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/afdeveloping/refereeing/law_12_fouls_misconduct_en_47379.pdf page 15. anyone with anymore insight into this?
  20. I made it ten minutes. Right up til the black James Bond discussion.
  21. certainly wasnt the worst- its not like he was talking about the players moms or calling a KU player a rapist or anything but, saying they dont play hard probably wasnt a good idea. agreed that KU didnt need any extra motivation- they win regardless.
