  1. good lord, whats up with my luck with flying dog beers? looks like my 6er of wildeman is oxidized. just like my raging ***** a couple of years ago. tastes like my dads homebrew. like wet moldy paper. yuck.
  2. its really good. the torpedo has possibly surpassed loose cannon as my favorite beer, but the ruthless rye is right up there. just drove by the flying dog brewery. picked up an IPA i hadnt seen before. 'wildeman famhouse' ipa. cant wait to try it.
  3. just pummeled one myself. followed by a ruthless rye. excellent.....
  4. how bizarre. i just cracked my first about an hour ago. really good stuff. the torpedo is my go-to, but the rye is really impressive. definitely not lacking in hops, and i love me some hops. ---------- Post added January-28th-2012 at 08:08 PM ---------- the latitude 48 IPA? not too shabby.
  5. had one of these last night http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/130/35246 boulder beer, double IPA. lots of beers claim to be hoppy (even miller lite- TRIPLE HOP BREWED!!! ****ing piss water). this one delivers. for lovers of sierra nevada torpedo and loose cannon, you will like this. i give it an A.
  6. had 2 tonight. one of my favorite beers. a must for hop heads. and the small craft warning is my favorite pilsner.
  7. i'm a hop head. i think the northern lights is ok. my go to these days is actually sierra nevada torpedo. clean, dry, hoppy finish. not too malty or sweet. love it. recently i picked up a sixer of this http://www.fullsailbrewing.com/beers/ipa.cfm . full sail IPA. i was impressed with it. not quite as hoppy as torpedo, but the clean finish i love. good stuff. double- how was the sierra nevada 30th anniversary ale? i was talking into trying the bigfoot and i really like it;.
  8. i am watching the game on channel 3 locally here in nags head. it was on at the beach road grill a while ago.
  9. i closed it when they told me i had to download something to watch it. no thanks.
  10. i'm in the process of changing out a crankshaft position sensor on a 2001 santa fe. (sounds dirty, doesnt it? ) this, after i just swapped out an apparently perfectly functioning fuel pump. pretty smart. god help me. what a pain in the rear.
  11. when i first had the loose cannon about 2 years ago, i said that it was the best beer i had ever had. good stuff. had some at the frederick beer festival yesterday. had some barley and hops, fying dog (the raging ***** was good- no band aid taste this time ), franklins (looked kind of like a mom and pop operation, but the IPA was really good), some german type of breweries' stout, johannsons (or something like that- it was getting late and hazy when i found them), brewers alley kolsh and IPA, some kind of sweet ale (too sweet for me) from, i believe, duclaws, and a few others i cant recall.
  12. i've bought the raging ***** twice, and i've convinced that both times, i've gotten a bad batch. i can tell that theres a beer in there, though, that i'd like. it just had a bizzare, plastic like, band aid taste. even my dad said the same thing, and he likes many of the same beers i like. i've gotten at least one other bad sixer from flying dog (the classic pale ale- tasted sort of 'moldy', not like a band aid like the raging *****, and i've had that stuff many times) i just finally got more flying dog the other day- the IPA- after not wanting to get any for awhile. no problems with this batch.
  13. i think i'm with you on the harpoon. i bought a mixed 12 pack of harpoon and the IPA was by far the best, but as an IPA its not that great. their others beers i've tried were like water. you might be the only person i know who likes miller lite and those other beers i'm not really a beer snob- i drink busch light if i'm playing disc golf (or generally during the daytime). i drank coors light on the ball golf course today, too. miller lite, to me, has an extremely bland flavor that i cant get into. i feel like i'm drinking carbonated water. but i think its more like that in the bottle or can as opposed to draft.
  14. no, its not you. tastes like that to me as well.
  15. that pic is useless without your home address.
  16. picked up a 6er of 'ruination' IPA made by stone brewing co. http://www.stonebrew.com/ruin/ good stuff. hop heads like skinsfan1311 would approve. 7 point something ABV- not too high, so you can enjoy one or 2. dry, hoppy finish. quite satisfying. reminiscent of a slightly 'lighter' loose cannon. similar to SV torpedo pale ale. picked it up at shoppers in germantown. best prices around, decent selection. also had a few beers at the pratt street bar and grill in baltimore this weekend. very good beers there- apparently made on site. must have had 15 different kinds of 'home made' beers. had an oatmeal stout and something else hoppy. i recommend it. of course, the table next to us was ordering miller lites by the dozen. i wanted to throw things at them.......
  17. i should have been there. how was it? the overall event, and, more importantly, the loose cannon?
  18. i've had it twice. the first time, i'm sure i got a bad sixer, cuz it tasted like 'band aid', just like plastic. and i got a second opinion just to be sure. last week i got another one and it was at least a little better. i got a sixer of dominion millenium ale the other day. 10.5% ABV. its advertised as 'ale brewed with honey'. not really into really high ABV beers (above 8 or 9% gets to be a little much- seems to take away from the flavor) or sweet beers, but i like dominion, so i took a shot. its pretty sweet and strong, for sure, but not to the point where its a distraction. i'm a hop head, so its not top of my list. but its drinkable, even if you are only drinking a couple. i do recommend having it cold. forgot to restock the fridge last night and stuck one in the freezer for about 10 minutes. whew! the last half was like doing a shot of whiskey.
  19. i love the torpedo. not sure ive heard of green flash- where do you get it?
  20. i was in the persian gulf in 91, and a guy in my platoon somehow got a can of miller high life sent to him in a package. now, miller high life- especially in a can- may be the worst beer one could drink. but 5 of us shared that can of warm toilet water, and it honestly tasted like the best beer i had ever had.
  21. i just now read the last paragraph of his post. i actually did email flying dog (for one, cuz the beer i like isnt cheap, and also cuz i like it and want to buy some more in the future). they responded and said they werent allowed to replace it, but they did send me a t shirt.
  22. snow hill liquor mart, 18th street. are you the manager?
  23. hmm. i know i have at least 3 left. maybe i'll take the back. funny thing is, i was in OC about 2 months ago and i got a bottle of pre-mixed chi chis margarita mix. opened it up, and it was either bad, or they mixed up the labels with the mojito stuff, cuz it tasted kind of minty. i took it 50 blocks back to the liquor store to swap it and the dude refused to exchange it. i didnt want my money back, just another bottle. he still refused. i asked him to call his manager, and he refused to do that too. i was pretty annoyed at that point, so i said i would call the cops (not that they dont have anything better to do, but it was january in OC. not alot going on). i'm not proud of that move, but it was the principle of the thing. he even asks me 'what do you want me to do?? if you got a bad bottle of coke, would you return it to the store'. 'yes, i would, if it were a $10 bottle of coke'..... so, reluctantly, i called the cops. and yes, i felt like an idiot when the operator says '911, whats your emergency?'.......uhhhh.......its not really an emergency.......uhhh...i got a bad bottle of margarita mix, and the guy wont exchange it for me??? after that, the guy initially says he'll refund my money. i was like 'why didnt you say that 2 minutes ago- before i called the cops!? all i wanted was an exchange. so he gets another bottle, opens it up, and says 'ya this one smells funny too.....but its cheap margarita mix.' then he says theres nothing he can do. i told him he had just offered me a refund, and he looks me in the eye and says 'no i didnt'. WTF?? i was pissed. a few minutes later, they actually showed up. by this time, the guy finally called his manager and he said to exchange it. i got something else just in case the whole lot was bad. not my best moment, but i did get my booze.
  24. ya, it sounds like i definitely got a bad batch then, cuz i just had a FD IPA last night and it was nothing like that. sux that i got 2 bad 6ers of FD in the past month though. its not like you can return it for a fresh one.
