  1. I don’t think it would take that long. Wentz overall was among the worst we’ve seen given the entirety of the package. McNabb was a pretty bad RoI, too. I’m not going to count guys like John Beck. Dude wasn’t supposed to be fantastic. Wentz had a chance to turn the tide and be laid an egg and then didn’t give a ****.
  2. There’s many reasons Rivera wouldn’t want to play him. 1) Doesn’t want him to be good and make him look bad. If he looks okay in practice then saving it for next year and then commenting on the strides he’s made makes the staff look better and like they took a raw 5th and molded him to the point that he’s a good player. 2) Thinks Dallas is a lot for a rookie and he wants to shield him. I don’t agree with this approach. But it’s possible. 3) He wants to give Heinicke another go. And if Heinicke beats Dallas don’t be surprised if he and Turner are back. There’s many reasons. Just none of them good.
  3. I don’t buy it. If that’s the word coming out of Commander Land then it’s purposeful. It’s to get people to understand Rivera’s decision to not start him. Wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the direction. I can buy he’s not completely up to par. I can buy that they’d like more time to prep him. I can buy that they don’t want to throw him to the Cowboys. I can’t buy that Brock Purdy, Bailey Zappe, Malik Willis, etc., are so much further along than Howell that Howell can’t even come in and play while each of them have made starts (good, bad or ugly). At some point, you need to take the training wheels off. If the Commanders name anyone other than Howell, I can bet you that whoever fed Paulsen that info was feeding him a line to get people to be okay with the decision. We’ll see who the starter is tomorrow, I’d guess. I don’t think him not starting means that… or even that it doesn’t. But it means something.
  4. I can’t argue with expectations being set low. And I admit my thoughts on Howell may be off. I disagree with a great many regarding him so maybe I’m wrong. But I’ve got a fairly solid track record as it pertains to draft picks that this team has picked as well as others. But I certainly miss as well. So maybe I’m wrong on Howell. But I can’t figure out why people don’t think he’s going to be good. He did nothing but play well at UNC. His team was horrendous his junior year and his play didn’t really slip. But he somehow went from a top 10 guy to the fifth? I think this is a case of overthinking by the NFL. I’m not a fan of the dismissive “only a 5th rounder”. He’s not your typical 5th rounder. Most guys picked in the 5th weren’t once considered a top 10 pick… and there wasn’t a real reason for his decline. But we will see.
  5. Being honest, I can’t wait to see it. Because I think a lot of people are going to be surprised by how good the “only a 5th rounder” is.
  6. Not great for Ron, either. If Howell plays well the question becomes “why wasn’t he playing earlier?!” If he stinks the question is: “why did we waste a pick on this guy?!” They have mismanaged this big time. Because people love a controversy.
  7. Make no mistake, I am in agreement. I don't care to see it happen if Snyder is still the owner. But, they have a franchise to run and they are going to give themselves the best chance to win. I'd hope that the League steps in and vetoes big trades, but there is a chance that Richardson is sitting there around our pick. If so, they may pull the trigger on a trade up or sit tight and draft him. I think it's a bad move. I think Richardson has a bigger safety net than Haskins (his mobility) but ultimately it's the same situation as far as lame duck goes. You are set up for failure from day one. The answer almost has to be Sam Howell or some cheap vet like Baker Mayfield for a season. And then when ownership changes (if it changes) you go get your guy. But I think if this team is in position for Richardson they are going to pull the trigger. And if they do that, he has to play. Scary thought.
  8. Buffalo drafted Josh Allen who was raw as hell and they suffered for a year under his play. And then it clicked. If you draft a raw player like Richardson, it’s my opinion that he needs to play and take his lumps. A more polished player that needs refinement can sit and get those small details worked in. Now, playing doesn’t necessarily mean every single snap. Packages like SF with Lance works to get that guy some experience. There’s no guarantee any QB works. Or doesn’t. But you have to see them to know.
  9. It’s not any of that. It’s that we’ve seen 7th rounders come in and play successfully this year. The fifth round stuff just doesn’t hold weight. Especially considering what Howell was considered to be prior to his junior year when he… played arguably better.
  10. Cute. You go on the attack and resort to name calling. Good stuff. Have a great night.
  11. Was probably Dorsey taking what Daboll established and built on it. Dorsey is incredibly intelligent. He was the QB on that vaunted Hurricanes team. And, one of those things on that team was not like the others. He wasn’t a stud. Didn’t have a huge arm. Didn’t have the major QB intangibles But he was smart. And knew what to do in every situation.
  12. Also, it’s amazing how people don’t seem to read here. @KillBill26 where did I advocate trading up for him? It’s comical at this point.
  13. Most arent debating the merit of the move. Just that it’s a very real possibility.
  14. I’d be on board with Dorsey. Josh Allen wasn’t a great collegiate QB. But he was better than Richardson.
  15. I think there is no phrase I hate more than “Howell was a 5th rounder”. Doesnt register with me. Sorry.
  16. I mean I think first you have to talk HC. We’re dealing in a utopia here so my current two guys would be Eric Bienemy (hard to say no because he’s been wanting a chance for years, so saying no looks bad on him) and Demeco Ryans. If it’s Ryans, a Reich type could do well. Bienemy probably could help a bit. Sean Payton is a pipe dream but let’s throw him in there, too.
  17. I think Mayfield and Darnold are real possibilities. If you made me choose between them I’m taking Mayfield 11/10 times.
  18. The team is forever stuck in purgatory with Dan Snyder as the owner. And make no mistake… he is the owner until he isn’t.
