Replacing McCain is once again a priority in my eyes. Rolling with three safeties, two of which (or all three) that can roll into the box or play high is ideal. I can’t imagine Battle, Forrest, Curl. Wow.

Ironically getting Young would be a nice gift. But I don’t think it’s going to happen.

Hell, I’d take Jay.

He is the anti-thesis of Rivera in every single way.

McDaniels making jokes is kind of his thing, though. I’ve kind of always thought that was his SOP.

Look, this is a pretty silly conversation (I’m including myself) but a locker room is more than a few players. We’ve already had this exact conversation, almost word for word. We disagree. It’s okay. Neither of us should need to repeat themselves.

I still don’t know what you’re trying to say… because I never said you don’t hire a guy because a few players don’t like the idea. But I did read that incorrectly. So that’s on me.

You said I was overreacting. I don’t know what you meant either.

Even if Howell is the guy they want to start next year I think having a three "active" and 1 practice squad QB room is a necessity in today's NFL with the way QBs go down. The more guys you have that can play, the better. Two guys on rookie contracts, and a vet at minimum are necessities. The fourth guy can be whatever you need him to be.

I agree in some ways. I also don't. The sports landscape is changing. If your team doesn't want the guy (and they very well may be fine with him, so it's a moot discussion) the process of turning things around takes longer. If it takes longer, that means you probably aren't good all that quickly... Which in today's League means you are unemployed and the process restarts. My point: You make sure they aren't against the guy and his demeanor. Meaning they are okay enough to go with it and see what happens. I think they would be. But I think you check in with your players regardless.

Have you ever been in a locker room? If not, you wouldn’t understand it. That’s not meant to be rude, for what it’s worth. Guys get used to a style. McDaniels isn’t just a little different. He is an entirely different species of coach.

Was just coming here to discuss this. The issue is the sale. That is what would hold that up. And the locker room would have to be willing to accept McDaniels personality after Rivera's. They are very different. But yes, in a vacuum where a sale occurs in time to at least hire a new HC, McDaniel would be fantastic. Even if our QB is Howell, who we don't know what we have (but I think is going to be good), McDaniel will scheme the receivers open. But the 6-game losing streak is concerning. Long term he'd need a franchise guy (obviously) who can stay healthy (obviously). Maybe that is Howell. Maybe it isn't. My short list right now for HC (in no order): DeMeco Ryans (Reich type as OC) Eric Bienemy (maximize offensive talent) Mike McDaniel Sean Payton (but not for first round compensation and the caveat I don't think he'd want to come here anyways) Ken Dorsey

I mean it’s a combo. But the OL doesn’t help. But I think it’s important to note the speed of the guys who typically hit home runs. You get bigger guys occasionally going the distance, but it’s mostly guys with that speed gear. But most guys who have that gear don’t have the “gain 3 when it’s a loss” trait that BRob has. Ideally, we’d have a guy on roster with that ability. And I wouldn’t shake my fist at air if we drafted a guy later to take that role. If Gibson is cost advisable a RB stable of: Robinson (power), Speed guy and Gibson (hybrid) is a damn good group that gives versatility. Travis Etienne, for example, can bring one to the barn. But he isn’t breaking tackles and turning a 3 yard loss into a 5 yard gain while carrying the other team on his back.

I don't find it that ironic. People wanted to see what the $28M/two 3rd round QB could do given Robinson and a focus on the run game. Within one drive, at the most two, those people were all set with that quarterback. Wanting to see him and clamoring for him to be given more chances are very different topics. We saw, we no longer wanted to see.

Agree he is a bad QB right now. Agree with all of his traits. But man, his legs can help him develop. But he HAS to play. And I don't like him for this franchise with our current regime in place/ownership situation. I wouldn't draft him to this team, I don't think. It's just not a fit.
