  1. I suppose I never really understood the Patriots hate, there have been far more annoying franchises and personalities, I just chalked it up to that small holdout group that also hated the Bulls and weren't Pistons fans. I was always an admirer because of Brady. Once he left, people kept caring? I wasn't aware. In my view, it was always about hating Brady, which makes it even dumber and more embarrassing and honestly, I'm Ok with seeing Patriots lose because they don't have Brady there anymore so it doesn't "prove" anything other than Brady was the more important (though not sufficient by himself) cog.
  2. Wow, so much time has passed, I swore it was otherwise. I've seen people still hate the Patriots more in the last few years though, which is still odd to me. But thanks for correcting that mistaken belief on my part.
  3. I'm mad at the people who cheered for the Giants (in our fanbase) to beat them a second time even. Like how dumb do you have to be to root for the team that cheated the Skins re: salary cap, targeted its division and is a rival? And this is before the Pats had (LMAO) six. Also, does this put to bed the old Manning/Brady debates? Six goddamn rings. Manning was a GREAT QB, no doubt, but he tended to fold under pressure in a way that Brady didn't. It's something I noted while watching Brady play in college vs. what I saw of Manning. It never truly changed.
  4. If a conference is weak, in football, like the AFC in the 80s-90s, their representative loses. And badly. You're just mad that a Michigan man is GOAT.
  5. it means the Tailgate went downhill years ago, I find more fulfilling intellectual outlets for discussion and debate elsewhere. Even when people get things right (as on this thread, at times) they still get a lot wrong. And I'm not going to change their mind in this context.
  6. You hear stories of police driving a drunk home instead of pulling them for 10,000 dollars in fines and legal costs for blowing just over the limit. You still hear of people tackling and restraining individuals instead of shooting them. That case in NM or Arizona broke my heart. They had every ability to just jump on the dude if they thought he was a threat. And here's the big thing: You can criticize a large chunk of police as corrupt and a smaller subset as killers and also acknowledge that people have concocted cases to delegitimize the institution entirely (for reasons I won't get into) within a city or across the country. When a sheriff of some **** county (no offense to anyone there) says he wants to shoot someone so they don't mess up squad cars, and generally acts like he's a commander in a war against people he's trying to kill---there's a systemic ****ing problem. TWO things can be true at concurrently. Neither one undercuts the validity of the other.
  7. I absolutely refuse to lower myself to participating in the rest of Tailgate anymore but I had to share a story. (I should remind everyone I've been skeptical of POH-leece for a long time but also know it is a ****ty position to be in and there are plenty of national headlines where it was a good shoot. That said, I never bought the "only a tiny minority" excuse. I was talking to an officer, this is a person who I believe in any other context, to be at the far end of benevolent, good-natured, honorable. When I mentioned the case where the officer basically murdered the dude at that party (on video), or other cases, they retreated to the "I can't know what was in his mind" "I can't judge that he meant to do this or what his state of mind was, or if he had been trained properly." So here we have a case of someone who immediately closes ranks. I've never done that with anything, even the Redskins or my family. I just got more of that "well, there are bad people in every profession" but in most other professions, people don't get to threaten you with false imprisonment, taser, beating, shooting and walking away scot-free. Most cases of other people abusing authority (outside of domestic situations) is money, maybe frustrating, hindering other life goals but not just shooting you in the head and walking away from it. I made the point that people are warned about those who go into work with children (not entirely fair, but a valid point) to get access, so why wouldn't people who enjoy power and are susceptible to abuse of power also seek out such work (We call them politicians and poh-leece)? If an otherwise decent officer can't just isolate a case and say "yeah, that sounds bad" (not even, oh, I'm definitely for hanging him just on your word) then what hope do we have to reform the system? I also mentioned how Iraq/Afghanistan veterans have criticized policing, and they said they didn't care. I was stunned at how personally they took it, but also how they sounded like an internet bootlicker stereotype rather than the thoughtful person I believed them to be. I mean, even if the US has plenty of guns, there is a reason we have so many shootings that isn't just "oh, that unarmed guy was doing suicide by cop." I mean cops tackle people all the time. Why can't they tackle, restrain someone who appears to be barely moving?
  8. The weak should fear (and hate) the strong
  9. I see "thot" and I still chuckle. Sort of expect this to be the new Daily Babe thread
  10. I think for many of us, it's because of the way they made those deals. I'd love to not worry about signal or bandwidth and just have cable and order Skins games or even a NFL pass. But I can't and I don't want DirecTV or other crap. So computer it is because even DirecTV's streaming system is subpar. I've had good connections watching Skins games on ifeed or other sites and stuttering, lagging messes from DirecTV.
  11. No, the story was initially that Robert was being blackmailed over something he did, but it seems it was blackmail regarding Rebecca (his soon-to-be ex) and a tape with a basketball player.
  12. Hell, I didn't expect my 'advice conversation' post to be taken so seriously. See that template for mottoes and other nonsense? They learn so fast!
  13. I was editing some things and just spilled out for that post and so no organization. The blackmail tape, word is that it wasn't Robert getting blackmailed. This provides further context to some of what we had heard even years ago. it also changes how you look at his decision because it's highly unlikely no one took him aside and said, "hey, um, maybe try to date someone else." It also supports the idea that maybe he doesn't think things through with romantic situations, hence a tat. So the more info I find out, the more it reminds me that it's best that you don't get to know your heroes, or other people you admire or respect for their accomplishments. I encountered this on Lipstick Alley, a black gossip site, because even TMZ actually only gave the basics. But this reminded me of that BustedCoverage report on his wedding day sexts. Now, we do know his groomsman texted her, and whether the sexts were legit or not isn't the issue (at first) but in light of the woman's request to have story deleted years after the fact just before this divorce **** hits the news. Well, it raises some eyebrows, don't it? Robert's expertise, his occupation seems to be not learning very much or at least not learning quickly, and finding a way to mess up even those opportunities.
  14. Imagine the conversation with your friend. He's been separated, things didn't work out with his wife, maybe she even was a long-con diggin' tramp. I don't know. So he meets someone. One of the first things you say, "um, Rob G, what's the deal here? Shouldn't you hold off until divorce is final, not even just for appearances but because you're not in the right state of mind? Go to a strip club, or read a bible verse or two, but maybe hold off. " RGDuh: Yeah, but this girl she's special man. She's an athlete so she knows what it's like... you: Oh, so she getting paid too so it's not a scam type situation? RGDuh: She's a heptathlete from Estonia. You: Christ. Heptathlete? Estonia? So she's in great shape but she would still be seeing dollar signs. Continue RGDuh: you don't understand, she's so nice, she's different from almost all the American girls I've met. I don't know how but I think she cares about me for me. You: So, wrapping this up, because I can see this is going in a bad direction. Can you at least just date this girl for a bit, read each other platitudes and those athlete motivational sayings that just take the same two verb-subject parts and refigure them to sound deep? Because you're not even legally divorced yet dude. hey, what's that on your arm? RGDuh: Grete. It's her name. You: **** it
  15. That was just dumb. Put aside whatever may be about the two of them, the dude just signed a damn NFL top-2 pick contract. His family on both sides wasn't desperately poor. What was need other than getting caught up in that proposal story and two "devout" people just being total role models for the fanbase.
  16. Gots to agree with you on this. As with anything, the people on either side are probably wrong on some account, be it a particular charge or defense, but humans are rarely right in all specifics, but a general case can be right. For me, once he started sounding like Brunell and Campbell when it came to praise/blame, I agreed he needed a kick in the pants. Sometimes I still get the feeling with him that this is who he is, minus some sexual tawdriness (but maybe not, dude tattooed himself after, what a few months for this new chick?), that he is a cornball and that his parents souped him up so much (and he did, admittedly, have a great career at Baylor and a rookie year) that he just can't see it anymore. That said, maybe he has changed but changing professionally doesn't mean you're making all the right moves personally. So maybe this girl is healthier seeming than Becky (heh) and he trusts her more than he ever did anyone else, but it just seem real dumb to be getting tats (generally) but particularly after...months? month? I still hope for the best for him, I don't think he's a scumbag or anything, but just dumb. Would you see Andrew Luck doing this stuff, hell no!!! (it's a joke, people)
  17. Oh, remember that criminal conviction a guy got for blackmail attempt? It wasn't Robert in the tape. Word on the street is, it's multiple people from basketball team on the tape. And that maybe a teammate was also helping her be unfaithful (though if that was in retaliation for something, I don't know.) What's the saying, if you want to keep your heroes make sure you never meet them? I thought that story from BustedCoverage was nonsense or distorted but it's possible it's not. The woman who was subject of that story and alleged sexting correspondence was asking him to delete the old posts recently but just before divorce filing. And she just started following RGDerp on instagram again. Not saying old Meredith is involved but just saying I bet he's trying to avoid that old rumor being part of divorce. unfortunately for him, he married someone who was already run through by athletes so he can't use her prior history in divorce proceedings unless it continued. Robert's metier seems to be finding new ways in which NOT to learn from his time in the league (and life.) I don't even know how I saw a link, I wasn't on Lipstick Alley but I went there after I saw the TMZ link fo sho.
  18. This is sad but I don't know who Olivier Vernon.
  19. Sounds like Roseman is doing to Philadelphia what Vinny did to us. A thousand blessings upon him!
  20. Yeah. I mean, lots of coaches do not make an imprint in the memory for very long, other than maybe you remember a name or appearance. Flip was pretty high profile and Garnett's picture tribute was pretty sad but so was this Steph Marbury tribute: http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2015/10/26/9614860/stephon-marbury-flip-saunders-tribute
  21. We haven't been since Scot took over. Arguably, even with the Shannys it wasn't as bad as some orgs.
  22. Did this dude really say Yze(n)man trophy? Heisman? Maybe I shouldn't try to figure out what makes one of the great performance artists of our generation say what he says, but I would ask, "how does this challenge us? Are his lack of teeth real or is he taking his art to the next level with brutal realism? Don't we already know Cowboys fans are mentally impaired sub-90 IQ degenerates---if so, what new thing is this teaching us?"
  23. If you have AdBlock installed on chrome or firefox, i watched most of last year and the first preseason game last week on tge ifeed site mentioned a page or two back. Just be careful and close the thwarted ad overlays using the x on screen when its available. I might try the sunday ticket online streaming package but they were awful last year.
  24. Sounds like a nice set-up. Even without Sunday Ticket on sat TV, I bet a streaming web version would be pretty awesome too. Provided DTV gets its streaming servers together.
