Alex said 'the calf issue had nothing to do with the limb salvage'. Literally the guy is playing with 1.75 legs. I used to like Alex's under the radar scrambles and those days are over. I'm now seeing an ultimatum for him to make a decision in an organizational time frame that by all financial considerations means they've got to be leaning towards his release or retirement announcement. One or the other and sooner not later. As far as a QB upgrade, it's coming. Which route? I don't think they know because they don't have all the option available. If memories serve me here then this is an ongoing lead up to the draft. They want to win now, so there's no reason to use a high draft pick for a profiled rookie. They can win the division and playoff games with improvements at WR, OL, and another TE not named Sprinkle.

Heinicke Hive: The LEGEND of Taylor Heinicke Thread
TheShredder replied to LetThePointsSoar's topic in The Stadium
Seeing that Kyle Allen and Taylor Heinicke are two realistic WFT QBs that at a minimum can start and execute your offense, then you sign them both. Maybe you can get them both signed now for cheap 2 year deals. Then you know you've got at least 50% of the QB ? answered. Realistically there's not going to be many offers by any other teams for either guy. If Heinicke gets any interest from another team it's not going to be much and it won't be the same offense he knows, or any guaranteed starting role either. -

He definitely did just that and you want that same player in a tighter package, strengthened, and then supported. That idea looks something like a coach giving him directions to 'play smart and we got your back'. -

Yeah, if the instruct him to do that to address concerns then no problem. Give any experienced trainer 3 months and he can tighten up well. Only need to really add 5 lbs of lean mass at the targeted muscle groups and strengthen the supporting joint accessory muscles and core. Plus he'll be stronger and faster. -

With all the great things being pointed out, there's an obvious historical issue with consistent injuries. I don't think that cancels out that he's a baller. He's a smart player that should he ever get a shot to be a starter, he could be coached up to preserve himself enough to save his head and wings as appropriate. He's been laying out his smaller frame fearlessly, trying to get a gig. If he earns a shot, he's probably not going to have to be diving full speed Superman regularly if you get my drift. -
Cam is a liability in the passing game. He's not a huge upgrade to the rushing attack after what you give up from his dead shoulder and wacky throwing motion. He looks like an awkward baseball windup before launching balls into the ground. Brissett/Taylor are no better than Heinicke/Allen. But there's going to be more available as teams release and draft. Here's FA list 1st 20:

RR isn't going to say that before the game. Reports are simply Alex's calf was sore and tight this morning. -

If the insider reports are true, then Heinicke is the better option from a OC who needs to be able to call any play he wants in any systemic game plan. Everyone saw the play Alex put on tape after his calf tightened. His pre-snap expertise couldn't help him avoid being sacked and contributed to weak passes and uncharacteristic inaccuracies. The reasons you win with Alex become negligible when this injury overpowers his ability. For the youngster Heinicke, he's only going to get this chance of a lifetime for once and he knows it. He seems ready to just play it out and do what he does. Also view this game as an opportunity for Scott Turner to do what he has wanted to do and that's throw the ball downfield. I'd envision Scott telling Heinicke that his progressions should be deep to short and pull the trigger. -

NOTE: I don't know if most Americans understand that they're systematically isolated. Most media is blocked to and from the USA. Need to be slightly tech savvy to get uncensored access to world media. Using a VPN will soon be a crime. Should be aware that the most popular and best deals on VPNs have been created by the US shadow agencies. FYI I can't listen to 106.7 link above without a USA VPN connected. -

Allen and Heinicke will be in training camp, but Alex Smith likely retires. They'll bring a vet QB in for competitive reasons, but unless they pull the trigger on a high profile QB via trade I don't think they draft a QB too high and pick up a value QB 3rd or later. There's going to be a lot of QBs hitting the streets and available that would be instantly better than any QB they could draft this year. Personally I don't think this team wants to develop a rookie QB. I think the defensive minded HC and DC want to plug-n-play the Offense to score enough points to win with a top defense.

Once u comprehend what gargbage time is then u may continue to post. Clearly down 2 TDs almost halfway through the 4th Qtr. facing deep zone coverage allows for a string of easy yards. I do think he did a good job off the bench, however he's far from anything to get overly excited about. You can shut your mouth when the adults are talking. -

Heinicke had two series of garbage time yards and threw up some good 50/50 balls along with a few easy INT balls. He's a pure backup and nothing to get excited about. Funny how the listed Height and Weights are inflated on rosters, but there's good'ol Turner in his presser saying he's only 6 foot #200. LOL -
I don't think this team is being built around Allen or Heinicke, nor is it a viable strategy to gamble on another rookie QB who might be good in a couple of seasons. I'm glad this forum poll says the majority of people think they're going to use a 1st round pick on a QB because the crowd is always wrong.
-
Plenty of vet QBs that could be available in the off-season... Jameis Winston, Mitch Trubisky, Mathew Stafford, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Tyrod Taylor, Mariota or Carr, and then there's Andy Dalton and Cam. Personally speaking I'd get behind Trubisky if he doesn't get tagged. I'd also give a 1st round pick for him or Stafford.
