  1. The way the CBA is set now makes it too costly for watson to force his way out. I don't see him following through with what it would take to force his way out of a contract he just signed. If their new GM has anything to say about it, he's not going to a team that will be any good after a huge 1st round mega bundle of draft capital. Maybe only the Jets...
  2. Can't survive in the salary cap era giving away multiple 1st round picks for years unless you were ready to win a SB the year you made the deal. That's what an all-in move looks like and you're not in a position to win moving forward. Taking the Stafford route definitely gives you more chances at the ring. Tua for the 19th pick, deal.
  3. I hear what you're saying and didn't like his half effort on a lot of pass blocking snaps down the stretch. The problem is he just got ALL-PRO honors. I must be missing something.
  4. Hurney does things like Rivera thinks. Smith can easily get pissed off and not be willing to allow any stain on his young executive resume. Young Executives have too much hero potential and older executive administrators are hired to complete the chain as dependable team players.
  5. First rule of Heinicke Hive is YOU DON'T TALK ABOUT HEINICKE HIVE!
  6. If Smith and Heinicke, then Allen end up 123 at Week 1 next year...Alex better not get a paper-cut or he's going to lose his slot. I think you can cut Smith if he's not far better than the other two, but it won't cost too much to keep all 3.
  7. If he wants to play then come to camp with a new tire and let's see if he can avoid a sack and run play action. Make it a competition and see. The issue with Alex is he doesn't push the ball unless he's playing from behind. If anyone could comeback to camp with a new tire on that broken wheel, it's gotta be him. We'll see with the contract he signs. Likely incentives for being the starter.
  8. In all seriousness about PEDs in athletes it's a diminishing return unless you have a super intelligent sports MD designing sustainable progressive program or you're rehabilitating from injury. More to the point is that the athletes position or sport substantially benefits from it. Not the case for QBs usually, but definitely is for a Safety. They are constantly injured and would benefit greatly from PEDs. Landry's egocentric personality was his demise. Yeah I saw that butt don't remember exactly what was said, but left me with him being about 6'
  9. Everybody has him listed at 6'1" #210 but in his interview he scoffed at that and said something like that was generous or something. In college he was listed as 6'1" #213 They seem to boost measurables about ~10% or so. You'd suspect he's 6'+ and ~#200-210 somewhere in there. The point being he's the mirror stature of Drew Brees. To increase performance and reliability you want a stronger and more reliable Heinicke. In doing that properly you'd have a leaner, stronger, and quicker 6' #210. Definitely what you'd expect from a guy who would be getting a chance of a lifetime. If I were training him he'd be doing a lot of shoulder and accessory muscle work, including progressive long toss with a weighted football.
  10. Taylor is 2" taller than Murray and the same weight. He's a bit taller than Wilson and about #10 less. So, as a healthcare pro, gym owner and trainer you'd not get the same player abilities if you add #20 lbs. For all the athletes who publicly state they put on #20 in the off-season, it's not true naturally. 1st you don't get lean muscle mass (the real usable muscle) at a higher rate in trained athletes. It's because they are already at or very close to their peak. You can pump them up on PEDs but that's a diminishing return on risk investment if they can't stay on them. Note that PEDs are excellent for injury rehabilitation. To add #5 of lean, usable and sustainable muscle to Taylor would be the target. The PTs and MDs would target injury resolution then core, chest-shoulder-arm strength regimen, and speed. Together you'd have a healthy, stronger (arm strength), and more elusive and sustainable athlete in 12 weeks at 4-6# (~210 lbs).
  11. With the defense success, I just don't get how you take a step forward using a 1st round pick at the bottom 3rd of the round and reasonably expect that to help the WFT. That's a waste of a pick where you can have a much higher success rate utilizing it to fill another void. If they'd draft a LT, LBer, or WR they check off boxes far more often than not.
  12. Miami trade coming soon. Tua to TEN and a 1st was where it starts but they'll nibble for more.
  13. Allen doesn't beat out Heinicke in a fair competition from what's on tape. Mariota isn't a franchise QB and doesn't get trade value because TEN overdrafted him 5 years ago. Likely a 4th rounder tops to bring in competition, however LV could cut him to free up $10.7M in cap. You wouldn't trade for him IMO.
  14. Heinicke has more than a few years of professional coaching. He stated he modled his play after Drew Brees. I'd suspect that somebody has put in his ear that he plays like a young Brees. His size is the same. So I watched some Drew clips from his Charger highlights and the similarities are there to couple with the stature. See for yourself.
  15. I agree and when I watch the coaches film there's two things that repeatedly happen. 1- The WR talent is not sufficient. They have to have more talented WRs. 2- OL upgrades are undisputable. Particularly in the last game, our fan favorite, league wide All-Pro RG quit on multiple plays before the protections were finished. Scherff didn't show his best effort. Other protection deficiencies pop out when RBs are asked to block the blitz. JD fails multiple times in pass pro. They improve pass protection with some pointed upgrades and add a couple of talented WRs and whomever wins the QB competition will score more than enough times to take advantage of that Defense.
  16. Clearly it's a mistake to deny his talent. As well, a tempered enthusiasm should be logical with expectations. The middle ground has him involved in a legitimate QB competition that RR declared he mistakenly didn't deploy last season. RR doesn't strike me as the type of person to repeat mistakes. I'd expect Heinicke to get the lowest RFA tender and be back, healthy, stronger, and locked on to compete in 2021.
  17. Heinicke talk is hot topic this week and he's back page news next week (just the way it is). With the Hot Topic, the WFT has limited control of him going forward as a RFA. My confusion is with a RFA on an Undrafted player is answered here: https://distinctathlete.com/2021/01/12/erfa-rfa-and-washingtons-quarterbacks/ Where would the team’s salary cap end up as a result of the three roster moves discussed (Smith retires while Heinicke and Allen are retained on RFA & ERFA tenders respectively)? $42.6m = Current estimated 2021 cap space +14.7m = 2021 cap savings from Alex Smith retirement -$2.24m = RFA tender for Taylor Heinicke -$850K = ERFA tender for Kyle Allen $54.2m = estimated adjusted cap space for 2021
  18. Well, I guess I better close my gym and PT studio now since you have obviously figured it all out.
  19. I see the joke but he doesn't need a bigger frame. He's quick enough not to get smashed. He'd benefit from adding some lean mass and strengthened wings but being coached to not have to worry about being Superman would go a long way to his increased longevity week on week. Being able to play fast and accurately is a huge upgrade over a guy with a big frame, IE Haskins. I think he's a Drew Brees type QB. No, I'm not comparing him to Drew, I'm saying his stature is like him.
  20. Yeah that's the point with the idea to continue to ball out but be smart about it. He has to get the gig first, so he definitely earned a contract to be in consideration. He's got a few wounded wings to his credit and a concussion. As far as the shoulder and collar bone injuries they're really not serious concerns but obvious weaknesses that could benefit from accessory muscle strengthening. That can be done in 3 months no problem. Rotator cuff exercises, deltoid tree, upper body lean bulk would do it.
  21. That would need to be an anomaly TE in the second round. I'd say you can get a complementary TE later in the draft or FA, but that second 3rd rounder is possible if they have someone they like.
  22. Alex said 'the calf issue had nothing to do with the limb salvage'. Literally the guy is playing with 1.75 legs. I used to like Alex's under the radar scrambles and those days are over. I'm now seeing an ultimatum for him to make a decision in an organizational time frame that by all financial considerations means they've got to be leaning towards his release or retirement announcement. One or the other and sooner not later. As far as a QB upgrade, it's coming. Which route? I don't think they know because they don't have all the option available. If memories serve me here then this is an ongoing lead up to the draft. They want to win now, so there's no reason to use a high draft pick for a profiled rookie. They can win the division and playoff games with improvements at WR, OL, and another TE not named Sprinkle.
  23. Seeing that Kyle Allen and Taylor Heinicke are two realistic WFT QBs that at a minimum can start and execute your offense, then you sign them both. Maybe you can get them both signed now for cheap 2 year deals. Then you know you've got at least 50% of the QB ? answered. Realistically there's not going to be many offers by any other teams for either guy. If Heinicke gets any interest from another team it's not going to be much and it won't be the same offense he knows, or any guaranteed starting role either.
