Welcome to the Redskins Chase Young DE Ohio State
TheShredder replied to Sacks 'n' Stuff's topic in Around the NFL
I think you could do this for a couple of years, but you'll have an exit plan to trade a guy and replace him with a rookie. Clearly WSH took this approach and their guy got hurt and nobody would give up a 1st or 2nd for Payne. Will they now (2023)? Transition Tag DPayne and trade him? I think they have been doing it wrong and should extend value players like Payne and trade them for 1st rounders vs Franchise twice and roll them out for nothing. Key is tradable contract extensions and market timing. GM skill. -

There's a list of teams that maxed out their credit cards and you can see the results. LA Rams are example #1. They won a Super Bowl, so mission accomplished. Now they have no depth. Zero. There's others who have used draft picks as credit and lost wildly, like WSH did with RG3. Cap is real and so is Creative Financing. Eventually you have to pay the bill, so GM's who go for it are gambling in high risk investments. It's harder to create a perennial contender. If you look at Top Defenses, do you find 4 DL'men taking 40% of the cap? Does anyone see how a team wins (+.500 annually) by allocating 60% (+130M) to Defense? Nope. Doesn't mean it won't work. With the majority of teams doing the opposite and paying QB's 20%+ per year, you could argue that if you're paying QB peanuts then you can allocate a lot more to DL. The answer is clearly that you can but NFL, Not For Long. -

Chase Young is fully healed or the Dr wouldn't have cleared him for contact. Just because an MD is hired by the team doesn't remove him from medical liability. Malpractice insurance is crazy expensive! Sure WSH pays the Mal for their contractors, but MDs have a license, just like your drivers license. If you get a heavy Mal, you become high risk to un-insurable... MD gets tagged, sued, and fired for negligence and he's off to a Peurto Rican walk-in clinic. Chase is healed. Chase isn't in football condition physically and mentally. Has to play to get over the final hurdles. He'll play game 2 but won't be much to see probably. Can be valuable if they make the playoffs though. DAL game could be where he gets his head & feet going full throttle. -
I didn't watch it live. Actually stopped watching them live after they were down two scores vs DET. After they got rid of WJ-III and changed the defense to field the best players, I started watching live games again as there was a visibly different product on the field. I'm not a fair weathered fan, I just won't waste my time if they're not competitive. Also, I'm pretty much a grumpy old man who hates Snyder enough to wait the guy out. They're definitely capable of winning even down 2 scores but I'll watch the replay vs letting them piss me off for the weekend!

It's a Pick'em game. Too close to call. TH is a surprise road worrier. So, no home field advantage really. I feel like this is Scott Turner's game to win, more than it's JDR's game to lose. Turner had his best scripted opening to date vs ATL. He's doing a great job right now and trending up. WSH can't play from behind or lose the turnover battle. Behind by two scores and I'll watch something else.

When you're in the middle of the final year of a contract, that contract lasts until the end of the league year. You only extend players mid-season that you don't want to lose in the off-season. Not sure there's any other NFL team that wants TH as their QB. No reason to extend his current contract. TH is connected to Turner, not RR. Both RR and Turner will return in 2023 at a minimum. (Likely both are here for the start of 2024) Zero competition for TH's services. No need to pay more than a raise for tenure (+%10) and performance incentives. $3-5M base + 3M escalators ~$6-8M/yr max and base salary guaranteed on 2-yr deal. This allows them to resign D.Payne. $.02

Transition Tag Payne for 1-year and groom the replacement. Cut Wentz and sign TH for a ham sandwhich and a case of Busch. Net Positive.

Nobody will partner with Snyder. He's high risk and wants top dollar. Can't have both as one scenario cancels the other out in leveraged high stakes negotiations. Snyder is left with stretching the bid, bottle necking bidders, increasing momentum to maximize his ROI. If he pulls it off the sale price will be +7 Billion. Sales like this happen rarely but can spur others to sell. Similar to the WR market we watched explode. DEN sold. Seattle is on the horizon. Snyder can control the timing and momentum for awhile but our current society isn't going to allow him to hold it after the announcement to sell and the world wide demand for him to do so. -

Bezos won't overpay for any investment. Whatever he does bid will be calculated. -

That would be correct. Feds investigation wasn't going to ever materially force a sale, as it was political gaslighting essentially. Snyder will have to sell because the momentum to do so has already past terminal velocity now. If he were to try and backtrack, it would only be a waste of money. WSH will have a new owner in 2024, while the Snyders will have 7 Billion dollars (about 600% ROI). Can't happen fast enough. -
Not worth watching a "Professional" club that takes 3 years to 'rebuild' half a team. Washington has once again taught the people about nepotism, status quo, and entitlement. No ****ing way this pathetic defense will get another minute of my attention. All you Jamin Davis and Cole Holcomb lovers enjoy the taste of your opponents sweaty nutz!

I watched PHI rush 5 into the big lead, then dropped the 5th guy into coverage after. It allowed Goff to move the ball when the 4 man rush couldn't get home. -

It was obvious week 1. PHI brought 5+ from different places and Goff was rushed, sloppy, and inaccurate. He made his passing yards late, after PHI started rushing 4. Big opportunity to get to him early and get a lead. Don't expect Wentz to always give up a pick each game. If the OL holds up well, it might not be close. There's going to be games where everything clicks! -

There's not a lot of question about what you should do if you have a groin injury. If your season was riding on the game, then you play...if it's week 2 then rest. Too much risk to play Allen if he has a questionable groin issue. If he's already torn it, it doesn't matter because he won't finish the game. There's no chance he feels better after playing a game, but 100% chance he feels better if he rests for week 3. -
I watched it again and he's a backup and shouldn't be playing meaningful snaps. Mayo will get more reps and he's a JAG. They blew it. The games too much for him. Need to admit they were wrong and get someone in there.
