  1. No reason to play anyone... preseason is meaningless for anybody on your projected 53 due to injury risk. Bad version of a catch-22 where evaluation requires risking others to decide the bottom of your depth chart, imo... Is there hidden value in beating that streak??? Doug Pederson, “I’m still in the same mindset,” Pederson said, via the team’s website. “I can’t really worry too much about who gets hurt and this and that. If I do, then people get hurt. I just think you practice and play just like you’re getting ready for a regular-season game and our starters need some time together on the field. They’ll get that opportunity this week, and I’ll monitor it. I’ll be on top of that too, so if I need to pull them out, I’ll pull them out. Right now, it’s still full steam ahead.” One area of concern on the injury front is the offensive line. Right tackle Anton Harrison, a first-round pick this April, and reserve tackle Josh Wells didn’t play against Detroit while guards Cooper Hodges and Chandler Brewer were injured during the game against Detroit. Being thin up front isn’t causing Pederson to veer from his plans for the preseason finale.
  2. Benefits of sitting rookie QB for a year offers a positive learning experience. I'd imagine learning the job from watching someone who's been doing it for a few years without the stress to perform and produce immediately would provide confidence at many levels going into a second year. Allows a guy to improve, play naturally faster, and build confidence. Seems more beneficial than burning a season that affects the entire roster {unless it's a full rebuild}. I'm sure there's physical advantages with young men getting stronger & faster as well. Howell has a live arm and a year of mental and physical growth only helped.
  3. Last QB to play all season was Captain Kirk 2017...WSH leads NFL in a string of starting QBs with 12...Chances Jacoby starts in 2023 is like 125% Maybe fix the OL? Hmmmmm, nah!
  4. That's exactly what I was thinking when I heard they picked Lancelot. I was thinking 'Damn, they did it again?!'
  5. Funny how everybody just wants 'starters to stay healthy' in the preseason...then after the game it's 'Mob Rules' hysterics on how bad this guy sucked. If any of those top 6 OL'men go down in that game, then get hysterical. Valid...but they didn't. Leno, any LG, Gates, Cosmi, or Witch Wiliey aren't getting cut. Just have to imagine coaches would continue to preach the safety first mantra as vets and starters work to get into football shape. Remember Jamar Chase in his rookie preseason? Guy is pulling up, dropping balls, etc. Media and fans roast him preseason, then he torches the league lighting up the stat sheet. They aren't playing that hard. I think the OL sucks again, but I'll wait to try and validate it after an unfair small sample in the real games.
  6. The only thing that I wouldn't count on is Thomas missing Week 1. They were set at TE until Rogers went to IR. They can add a guy after cuts and get good value on a TE4. Logan's had a strained calf that kept him out a month, from week 4 to week 8 last year. So, after he came back, the pass catcher needed a week to get back in the groove but he was fine. Point being, if you write off the ACL, in the other span of playing time, he's played banged up at times, like everyone else and sat out a stretch for a torn calf. Now, they know exactly what to do. They know if he says it's like last time or a lesser degree, he'll be fine week 1. Logan knows what up. He knows he's an $8.3M cap hit next year and EBs scheme favors TEs. I don't view him as breaking down. Likely overuse related and soreness in a calf, so they shut him down with his PMHx.
  7. That's what I'm thinking. Why put anything out there? Assbackwards media moments can always be avoided. Just goes so bad from here when the O doesn't work straightaway.
  8. RR needs to check himself with the WWBBD (What Would Bill Belichick Do) mantra before stepping to the mic.
  9. So here is an incorrect use of the word strain. Strain is a muscle tear of some degree and even a minor 'strain' is valid reason for concern. Muscle tears, even minor 1st degree take weeks to heal property. Tweaks...loose non-descript term that, in the NFL, is usually a lie. The way these guys are getting after it, everyone is sore and has potential for overuse injury. My understanding is they're monitoring this with GPS data and computer algo to know when players are in the over-trained caution state. Yeah, don't freak out about small stuff but don't discount the value of resting a guy who has symptoms.
  10. RR was the perfect man for this job. Now, his job is done. It was always going to be the next coach that benefitted from a coulture change. RR is a .500 coach EB is far more demanding and will win more often. Wouldn't be surprised to hear RR laterals into GM type FO role and EB gets a shot at HC gig.
  11. Decoding NFL injury commentary is easy. Rule #1 Tweak ==> White Lie HC uses to avoid mass panic of the fan base. Translation ==> Player is sore. Look for whether player participates next session. Rule #2 Strain ==> More than a Tweak and equals some degree of muscle tear. Translation ==> 2-4 weeks of bubble-wrap and individual drills (if he's a starter). *If player isn't a starter 24-48 hrs and a lot of tape. Rule #3 Torn or Tear ==> Usually means this guy is screwed and typically heard after the HC Lies using verbage like TWEAK prior. Translation ==> 6-12 weeks or IR usually count this guy as gone.
  12. It's not that RR (the guy with 100% roster control) has gambled with Howell...it's that he's not corrected the bad OL roster decisions and magnified the problem with poor off-season choices. RR and everything Offense is crap...this gets him fired. New ownership doesn't have any demands this year and resigns to observe. They'll sniff it out. RR, Mayhew, and the gang will get purged.
  13. All I stated was a path to the easiest seed. It's complete assholes like you that makes contributions to forums a waste of time.
  14. Playoffs start for this team on SNF. #1 concern is Coaching. These guys have had weeks to prepare and extra film to implement a winning game plan. WSH needs to be pushing for the 5th seed. DAL has the potential to loose 2, even 3 games going into week 18 finale. Can easily loose to Jags and PHI. TEN is done. Week 18 heads up could be for the 5th seed which is huge! The 5th seed plays the worst team, the NFC South winner. Then would play the winner of the Vikings game to get to NFC Championship (likely) in PHI (for a rematch). There's a path to the top...
  15. Not really, our ligaments are very resilient...but I get it, as non-contact tears are common among athletes that wear cleats. The studs create an anchor that doesn't allow the joint to work the way it's designed to and counter forces can pop the supporting structures. Difference is a beach volleyball player lands and turns like Murray and it's a sprain. Same guy with cleats on and he's off to the OR.
  16. Turner can't use the same game plan, but he can watch this weeks tape and tweak it. Giants don't have that. They should be prepared. At home, Chase Young's first game back, playoff hunt, Sunday Night Football...angelic!
  17. Situational tempo to keep subs off is smart football (ala Rogers). TH can do that. He has to be completing passes or it won't work. Hurry up audibles should be able to catch NYG a few times.
  18. It's likely to take a few games to see him flip the switch with football reps and injury confidence. I'm not putting it past him to make a play and the confidence switch gets flipped first. Ramped up reps could lead to a big DAL game at home to close it out. DAL might not even need to play starters in the last game.
  19. DAL will be the 5th seed and have the easiest game vs NFC South winner. WSH or NYG (#6 and (#7) will play Vikings #2 or SF #3 as it stands now. Rather win to play Cousins than 49'ers D and Mr.Irrelevant. The lowest winning seed plays PHI #1 where the #6 would play the DAL/NFC South winner. WSH needs to be winning going into an away Wildcard game. It's possible to beat NYG and then host them for NFC Championship game! 🤣🤣🤣
  20. They've swung and missed too many times like that. I'd rather see them target a QB in later rounds with the ability to develop and bring in competition vs TH and Sam. They need better pass-pro OL and C/RG...have to fix the OL first. $.02
  21. The injuries at key positions can derail any roster. Rams had OL issues from the start. Their All-in style sacrifices depth from cap issues to no draft picks. Mayfield needed that. Good for him! McVay is still a Wizard 🧙‍♂️ Maybe trade Sweat high...somethings gonna give!
