  1. Harrington might be a decent pick up if it's a one year deal. Anything longer would be a mistake. BTW, it's kinda funny reading how this player or that player might be good IF HEALTHY. We seem to have an unusually high amount of players like that. I'm not as big a fan of this off season as others seem to be. We brought in a back up PG who, statistically speaking, isn't an upgrade. We have 63 small forwards after the most predictable 1st round pick in the draft. (I'll give EG credit for Rice in the 2nd round if he or Webster can play SG) The back up big men all still suck and now we are looking at a 15 year veteran to come in after missing all of last season to help out.
  2. Sharknado is epic. It's so hilarious and terrible at the same time, you won't be able to stop watching it.
  3. I second the thought that it doesn't make sense to offer him a max deal right now. Play a full season to insure your health and the ability to help the Wizards really win first. If I'm Wall I sign it as fast as possible coming off a knee injury.
  4. Does Porter have the handle to be a point forward? I haven't seen enough of him to know.
  5. I should rephrase. It's always good for the young guys to get practice, but it's meaningless to try to draw any conclusions as to whether a guy will meaningfully contribute to the team next year beyond being at the end of the bench.
  6. Summer league means as much as football preseason games. It's all meaningless.
  7. If we have to start somewhere, how about starting with how bad he's been drafting players. If the pick hasn't been an absolute no brainer to this point (Wall, Beal, Porter) than EG has failed miserably to produce.
  8. Nothing to complain about? The only thing EG has done right in the last two years is take the two people in the draft that 90% of us would have taken. Oh, I'll give him Webster as a solid move. Beyond that he got destroyed in the Ariza/Okafor trade and he got the Wiz a center that has plantar fasciitis and 2 or 3 years left on his deal. This team absolutely hasn't done the best it could with what they have. They are sitting on two big expiring deals that possibly could have landed another long term contributor. Does anyone think they even tried? To this point I would guess not at all. Oh yeah, we have terrible depth at PF and C but we have 42 SFs.
  9. Who is the last GOOD free agent to sign with the Wiz/Bullets? and I don't mean sign an extension.
  10. It's always thought of in the event he gets injured and won't get another contract. BTW, to me this locks up LeBron staying in the East the rest of his career. It's a far easier road in the East to get to the finals than in the West.
  11. This is loads of nonsense. First off, somehow a big man that has a really good mid-range game wouldn't work in a pick in roll with john wall? The guy runs the floor, can finish inside and he isn't a bad defensive big. He doesn't have to be a great defender for this team. Last thing, it's GREAT if he is a creator as well cause the Wiz could use more of that. Currently they have one in Wall.
  12. Dwight Howard is a mental midget that can't be counted on the last two minutes of a close game. I wouldn't want him on my team at this point in his career.
  13. So Utah gets two first round picks (2014 and 2017) helping Golden State create cap space to sign Iguodala while EG and the Wiz got nothing for helping New Orleans clear cap space last off season. Ted has really become a bad owner.
  14. Your opinion is very different from other scouting reports. He rates very high in any efficiency rating out there and there is nothing to suggest he would make us terrible on D.
  15. ESPN rumors has LaMarcus Aldridge possibly wanting out of Portland. What would you give up for him? I'd offer next years 1st and Okafor and after they turn that down I'd follow up with Otto, next years 1st and Okafor.
  16. This team should make the playoffs by default considering how bad some of the East teams are going to be. 2 or 3 teams could make the playoffs in the East with a losing record next season. If you don't think so, look at last years standings and think about how much worse the 6th, 7th, and 8th seeds are after this off season.
  17. You expect a top 5 draft pick? Ariza will either be traded or allowed to expire so that really only gives the Wizards Porter and Webster at SF. Singleton is horrible and apparently now a PF. Same goes for Vesely. Also depending on when we extend Wall his contract can go over the cap and the Wizards would still be well below the luxury tax line of around 73 million. Whatever the first round pick cost is I don't know but Ariza is under contract for next year so for at least one year we are 4 deep at SF ANSI hadn't even counted singleton or vesley. It's kinda hilarious to me that we keep drafting and signing them. I'm not sure Ted goes over the Cap again.
  18. Nene, Webster, Porter, and Maynor are still the only contracts the wizards have to pay out in 2013-14. Wall, Beal, Vesely, Seraphin, Booker, and Singleton are all restricted free agents or club options. Okafor and Ariza are free agents. The Wizards should have cap room to work with that season. Let's say you give Wall a max extension and pick up Beal's option: Player Salary 2013-14 Wall 15,000,000 Nene 13,000,000 Webster 5,500,000 Beal 4,505,280 Porter 3,725,400 Maynor 2,106,720 Total 43,837,400 Obviously the team would still need to sign 9 more players, including a starter center, but there is plenty of cap space to work with even with Wall getting a max deal unless I'm missing something. Plus a first rounder at $3 million. So maybe $11 million to sign 8 players. Depending on Rice's contract. This is why EG is so bad and why the Wiz always suck. Overpaying for players this team doesn't need. I don't mind the Webster contract if they didn't just draft Porter and Rice. Now we are 4 deep at SF and 1 deep at PF and C depending on who is hurt. If no trades brings in a big man....
  19. You've hit on an ongoing theme in free agency with Wiz fans, the overvaluing of players based on emotions. this team has some straight up garbage players still and while they might make the playoffs in the very weak East, they are far from a championship level team. With that in mind you either value payroll flexibility or you look to make a trade using the expiring contracts and the 2014 first round pick. Otherwise they need to be careful overpaying for roll playing vets.
  20. Jamison helping this team is comical. I still hope this team is seeing who might be available for the expiring contracts. This team needs an efficient scorer at the 4. Doesn't have to put up huge points. Also, if this team doesn't believe it can lure a big name free agent next year, I would consider David Lee, All-star/3rd team all nba last year putting up 20 and 11, for the expiring contracts since golden state is shopping him. Again, this comes down do whether the team thinks it has any chance at a big-time FA next year.
  21. Sure. But he's under contract. You can't just cut him. Wouldn't make sense. If we can get another team to take that contract, then I'd do it. Being under contract doesn't mean he can't be cut. He'd still count against the books but he can still be gone. Rather them sign some undrafted rookie for almost nothing with some semblance of basketball skill than see vesley play again.
  22. Time to cut Vesley and move on. I don't ever see him contributing any minutes on a playoff team because he is literally the worst NBA player in the league. Take emotion and hope out of the thinking and it's an easy decision.
  23. All the optimism surrounding Rice is good and a little funny. There are reasons he was a 2nd round pick. Probably should temper expectations. Absolutely no reason to resign Webster if Ariza isn't traded. This team needs front court depth a lot more than 3or 4 small forwards. Especially given Nene's ongoing foot issues. Oh yeah, still need a back up point guard. Virtually every position except starting pg and sg was in need of being upgraded if this team wants to do more than make the playoffs in the sorry east.
  24. I honestly don't get idea behind drafting two small forwards unless they think Otto can play PF if the wiz can occasionally go small. Now they better not resign Webster and not sure what they do with ariza. I would have preferred depth at PG with a lorenz brown or depth with a big man like Withey. Seems like SF is the one place we had depth for next season. Doesn't seem well thought out.
  25. I'm reading that the Pelicans are sending the 76ers a top three protected pick in 2014. That's still a mistake IMO but its better than what I heard initially. That would make a lot more sense.
