  1. That's the catch-22. If Wall is an all-star and Beal is playing well, Ernie keeps his job even if the team isn't really winning. Maybe we have a new coach...maybe.
  2. Other than Wall getting back, nothing is going to happen. Do you read Ted's take? One of his recent posts was taking about all these efficiency stats when Nene plays and how important it is that guys are back at practice. He goes on to say that it's going to take time for the chemistry to develop, guys to get back in playing shape, etc. and than we will all see what kind of team we really have. One of the worst things that could happen is that the Wiz play something like .400 basketball, which still is terrible, but will be used as the reason to do nothing and the new excuse will be that they just need an off season together.
  3. Agreed. His salary is a killer for 3 more years. ---------- Post added January-5th-2013 at 03:50 AM ---------- Historically bad teams find all kinds of ways to lose games. Bottom line: this team is terrible.
  4. As I said, I'm going based on his actions in the NBA. You can choose to ignore the record laid out before everyone if you want. You can also continue to ignore the fact that he's a big man that can't score efficiently. The Wizards need inefficient scorers like Dallas needs Tony Romo in a must win game.
  5. Do you actually know Cousins cause you are making a lot of assumptions contrary to evidence in front of us? Do you realize you are strongly advocating for a big man that can't shoot (43% in 2+ years) and gets suspended? Seriously, if you don't think it matters how good a big man shoots, what his FG% and shot selection is, than you know nothing about the NBA. 43% is absolutely terrible for a 6'11 guy that should be getting shots around the rim all day long. Terrible. Also, this notion that if we simply bring a certain coach in, he will recruit guys and all will be good. This is laughable. These young guys play for big money and will follow the big money. Period. The notion that if we just pair Cousins up with Wall he will suddenly grow up is laughable as well. It's pure speculation, pure nonsense based on everything we know about Cousins. Last thing, the Wiz cannot trade next years first round pick until they know where that pick is in the draft order. There is no reason to settle during this season for any high risk players. There is no telling which players might be available in the off-season, like a James Harden was available this year.
  6. A big man shooting 41%. Awesome. I don't underestimate Cousins, I just have some understanding of what the Wizards need. He's an incredibly inefficient scorer who has poor shot selection and is putting up decent numbers for another really bad team. He's a complete headcase and really a project for any team that acquires him. Now you guys want to put that on a Wizards team with our star player who battling serious knee injuries cause they are boys and if a thousand things go right, they could be awesome. Oh, and let's not pretend we need him to rebound or play defense because the Wiz are 6th in rebounding and Cousins is not a defensive force. A headcase like Cousins in this organization is a failure waiting to happen. The Wizards don't have the organizational structure to deal with the issues he brings on top of which the Wizards show no ability to develop any young players so why would Cousins magically get better here? The answer is that he won't. Not here. Until the Wizards change the GM, the head coach and the total philosophy here, players like Cousins won't help this organization succeed no matter how much wishful thinking fans have. ---------- Post added December-30th-2012 at 03:57 PM ---------- Nor can you have Ernie as the GM here with a player like Cousins.
  7. Yay, the most inefficient scoring big man in the NBA on the worst scoring, least efficient team in the NBA is exactly what the Wizards need to turn it around. Again, if the Wizards give up a top-3 or lottery pick for this completely unprofessional, sorry shooting big man, they deserve to be the worst team in the NBA for years. Being pro-active is one thing, trading for this guy is another. Look at your own post, if he does this, if he does that he will become a great player. So many ifs and that's all the Wizards team is filled with right now. If the wizards trade their pick in the off-season, it would have to be for a sure fire all-star. The Wizards trading for Cousins is a complete Daniel Snyder move. ---------- Post added December-30th-2012 at 02:37 PM ---------- It's pretty amazing how awful the Wizards are this season. Think about this: teams are 28-30 games into the season, there is a team currently with an 18 game losing streak and we are still 3 games behind them in the win column.
  8. That would require a competent head coach. I'm guessing he is being told to shoot the ball.
  9. I don't have the game on TV so I'm following online...Do we really have a guy we just signed out of the D-League playing in crunch time?
  10. No one is going to take Nene while he's injured. The worst part about this mess is that the Wiz could have cleared the books while sucking this bad and it would have been so much better. Easily should be under the cap significantly for the foreseeable future.
  11. To no ones surprise, no one's job is in jeopardy cause EG even admits they are using injuries as their excuse for now.
  12. So you guys want to put all your eggs in a basket that includes a PG who relies on his athletic ability but currently has a devastating knee injury with no timetable to return, a C with a terrible shooting % and attitude, and a PF with a nice all-around game but can't stay on the court because of a chronic foot injury. Before the Wiz do anything, they need a proven head coach and GM to attempt to develop some of the young players either to keep as a core or to create trade value. Other than Beal, I'm not sure who else any other team would want right now.
  13. Dude, I'm not sure why you are blinded by Cousins, but if EG traded our potential first pick in the draft for a guy that gets suspended every year by his own team cause he's a head case, you and everyone else would demand he be fired. On the court he barely averages more than a point per shot which is something the Wizards have nailed down already and doesn't block any shots for his size. The Wizards are actually pretty solid rebounding already and really need more efficient scorers. I'm not saying that we don't use the draft pick in a trade in the off-season, but it better be for a proven all-star caliber player, which cousins most certainly is not. Also, you won't get full value with the pick now.
  14. Cousins isn't worth a top 3 pick let alone a lottery pick. I don't get why you guys like a Center that shoots 41% ( a 6'11 guy that shoots 41% is atrocious for a big man) and gets suspended multiple times due to his sorry attitude. Change for the sake of change doesn't help the situation. A top 3 pick can get a lot more (James Harden) then another teams garbage. Sorry dude, but your trade suggestion is Ernie bad.
  15. Some of you guys massively overvalue DeMarcus Cousins. You are talking about a center that shoots 41%, which is awful, and can't stay on the court because of his terrible attitude. Getting other team's bad players won't make the Wiz better.
  16. I don't know why I subject myself to Ted's take, but I do: The mention about Center being one of the two key positions on almost every team is worrisome to me.
  17. Since we have a great GM that cleared cap space, how about making a run at Paul Millsap? He can run and play in the half court, shoots and rebounds well and...nevermind. This sucks. We are stuck with this team for two years.
  18. The worst part about John Wall's knee is that Ernie and Ted will use it as an excuse to not make any changes. Wittman will be here all year and we will have to same conversations over and over again about what a competent GM and owner should be doing with this franchise. Hopefully there is a good big man or scoring SF worth taking when the Wiz draft top 3 next year. ---------- Post added December-18th-2012 at 03:54 AM ---------- Even if he has microfracture surgery, I will bet that he'll still get a max contract from Ernie.
  19. This is spot on. The only reason I see to bring Bynum here is to create cap space and potentially use him in a sign and trade. No way I would give him a contract extension.
  20. Hansbrough sucks. He's a big man that can't shoot. His FG% is 41 this year with a career average of 42%. The last thing this team needs is more players that can't shoot. ---------- Post added December-17th-2012 at 03:33 PM ---------- The Wizards are about to begin the easy stretch of the season. After Atlanta they play Orlando, Detroit, Detroit, Cleveland, Orlando and Chicago before a brutal January. Hopefully they lose to these terrible teams but they will probably win a couple and Ted will say we are on the right path.
  21. The only two people I would inquire about on that list are Derrick Williams and Andrew Bynum. For Bynum, I'd see if they had interest in Nene, which would probably require a future first too or for Okafor and maybe a young player. Clearing cap space and undoing mistakes would be the goal. As for Derrick Williams, I'd offer a young player not named Crawford, Beal or Wall. Maybe a couple of others I wouldn't part with but really we don't have much to swing a trade to begin with. Of course any trade of our most recent actions would have to be done by a new GM because Ernie would never admit to the dreadful mistakes he made this last year. There is no point in trading for anyone else on that list because the season is already lost and we should remain in full tank mode.
  22. I hear ya and I'm mostly in agreement. For me it's not just chemistry though, it's about developing the younger players with meaningful minutes. At least if that's the path this franchise is going to crawl down. ---------- Post added December-15th-2012 at 02:25 AM ---------- Only a 6 point loss. That's just as good as a win for Ernie and Ted.
  23. That's because the winning streak at the end of last season meant nothing. Seriously, what was there to get excited about? Beating a Miami team twice in which the big-3 didn't play either game, beating the worst team ever in Charlotte, beating an equally awful Cleveland team?
  24. Parker and Manu were late firsts or second round picks? Plus, veterans want to play for winning teams. You make it sound impossible but other teams use this formula. Of course it requires a competent GM.
