  1. What's done is done and now there is no reason to trade him now. The problem going forward is that the Wiz have no cap space next off season to pursue upgrades like a Josh Smith or Paul Millsap that can give Wall guys to run pick and rolls with and take over some of the scoring load.
  2. We need a strong, accomplished coach to come to DC. Personally, I would love to see Jerry Sloan. I know he's 70 now, but we need structure and discipline. I think it would help Wall a lot and it would negate all the crap that's happened so far in Washington.
  3. There is absolutely no reason to trade Wall or Beal. They can both be big contributors to this franchise.
  4. How can the game be better now than in the 90's and early 2000's and at the same time not be as good as when there were great centers playing? The 90's had some great centers. So one key argument for one and done not being the problem is that they become role players in the NBA. That's fine if that's their objective. Seriously though, DA's article said Kendrick Perkins was a star. In what world is that player a star? ---------- Post added November-16th-2012 at 06:24 PM ---------- It really is especially with 6 months of the basketball season to be played but it's either these decisions or we can just cut and paste the same posts after every game about how much the Wizards suck and EG sucks and Ted sucking as the Wizards owner.
  5. Nick Young was not expected to come in and be some great shooting guard for the Wizards but the main reason we disagree is our views regarding the quality of basketball in the NBA these days. I don't think the quality of play in the NBA is very good at all. ---------- Post added November-16th-2012 at 05:14 AM ---------- Thanks for the info on Wall's contract. As far as DA's article: Look at the guys he considers "professionals" or "stars." Most of the professionals we couldn't wait to get rid of when they were on the Wizards cause they sucked and the stars, while some put up stats on bad teams and others have earned big contracts, who has won anything on that list? Two guys really and neither were huge post season contributors when they won titles. Does Blatche add to the quality of the NBA?
  6. James Harden and Blake Griffin signed their extensions this off-season and they were drafted in 2009 while Wall was drafted in 2010. In July 2013, Wall is eligible for an extension unless something changed regarding contracts. Again, you are saying that the guys that went 1st or 2nd in the draft are NBA ready. Some would disagree especially when it comes to how well rounded this players are on the court and their maturity off the court, but after the 1st and 2nd players in the draft, how many are NBA ready after one year in college. Yet, those are the players coming out and littering the league.
  7. I'm not talking about the superstars going 1st or 2nd every year. That's easy. I'm talking about the ones lower down in the lottery. Nick Young is a great example. The Wizards knew exactly what they were getting. You're right though. Clearly, the more 19 and 20 year old players in the league now is really helping the quality of basketball out there. Giving major deals to 23 and 24 year old players, locking up cap room, that's been great for the league and all the teams stuck in lottery hell.
  8. Look at all the teams running in place in this league. Teams are forced to have to pick between 19-20 year-old players that are so raw and they have a short window to develop them before having to decide whether to lock up huge amounts of cap room. The Wizards have had this problem when drafting over the last several years when not drafting #1. I'm actually a big supporter of Beal, advocated drafting him over everyone else and I won't give up in him any time soon. In fact, I think given his age, the criticisms of him in this thread have been comical. I just think it would be better for teams to know more about players than 30 games in college. As far as Wall goes, he is a good player, but still can't shoot and still has a lot to prove. Yet, I think after this season he's up for his extension already. Is he a max player?
  9. IMO one of the biggest problems in the NBA and what plagues a lot of teams, including the Wiz, is the dreaded one and done rule for college players. Teams are forced to take players that still need multiple years to develop and have to decide on giving out big contracts to players based on potential. The NBA desperately needs a rule similar to the NFL or MLB to help teams build with younger players that are further along in their development.
  10. It doesn't matter if Whitman gets fired ten games in if Ernie is still the GM. We need a new GM to pick a new coach.
  11. No way this team wins 20 games and there is no reason to rush Nene or Wall back early. This season is a total loss save for getting Beal experience.
  12. I don't get why anyone wants Cousins on this team. We are talking about a big man shooting 42-43%. He averages 17.3 points on 16.8 shots per game. We already have plenty of guys that can't shoot. On top of that, he's proving to be completely unreliable with his attitude and he certainly isn't helping the Kings win games. I would not trade a top 3 or 5 pick for such a player.
  13. This team is only better if and when Wall and Nene get back. Given their injuries, there is no telling how many games they will actually play this season. If neither is back until the end of December, that's 28 games into the season. It will be tough to get to 30 given that.
  14. Since you guys watch more Wiz games than I do, does this team have any kind of sett rotation and when are they going to actually win a game?
  15. On the plus side to not having another 1st round pick this year a) our coaches suck so they wouldn't get any better and I think 3 players in this draft have had any impact on games so it's not like we are missing out.
  16. and we get both of them for two years!!!!! How did we not get a 1st round pick out of this trade? Just awful.
  17. Was there any truth to the rumors of Harden being offered for the #3 pick in the draft back in June?
  18. Everyone knew this going into last season. Did anyone think we had upgraded offensively that much this last off-season?
  19. There is really no excuse for Beal not to be getting 35 minutes per game with this roster.
  20. I appreciate that these guys signed up for a tough fight. I wish more fighters had that mentality.
  21. Aren't you being a little tough on the guy considering it's summer league and his first NBA experience at age 19?
  22. Brooklyn knows that Orlando will lose a lot of leverage with all teams if they sign Brooks Lopez to deal. Orlando knows it can get 3 1st round picks and clear cap space with the Nets so every other team needs to top that.
  23. Totally agree on Blatche. It should have been announced long ago. Some organizations are just tone deaf and it could be Ernie not wanting to admit a mistake. Where did you get info on the Brooks Lopez situation? My guess is NJ is trying to force the issue with Orlando now cause it's taking forever.
  24. I think it's still way too early to really judge Wall in any meaningful way. Replace Wall with the best PG in the league last year and the Wiz still don't come close to making the playoffs. Let's not forget what Wall was working with a starting lineup at the beginning of the season that included McGee, Lewis and Blatche, with rookies, 2nd year players, Nick Young and Roger Mason coming off the bench. That's the makings of a terrible team. Having said that, Wall needs to take a step this year and there really are no excuses if he doesn't. Nene, Ariza, Okafor alone represent significant upgrades and I believe Beal does as well. We still lack enough outside shooters, but things are still much better for Wall now. ---------- Post added July-10th-2012 at 07:21 PM ---------- Sure, but I've seen the commercial of Irving dressed as the old man so my opinion will carry more weight.
