  1. One of the worst trades ever. Young all star point guard and first round pick for injured unproven center.
  2. It really sucks he is still the GM. Otto and Beal were two of the easiest draft picks to make. Ted will probably give him another extension tomorrow.
  3. If that trade or a similar terrible trade happens involving the #3 pick, I won't consider myself a fan of the Wizards until EG is gone. I can take a lot of losing and some terrible draft picks, but this will be the last straw. He should have been fired last off season. I can't even believe that trade is a rumor given how one-sided it is in favor of the Bulls. Than again, the NBA is fixed and the Bulls need to compete with the Heat next season.
  4. Noel held his own against much stronger players. That Ole Miss game was a marvel, and he did his work against some powerful bigs when he was in foul trouble. Speed and length and leaping ability go a long way to covering up for a lack of strength. But mainly, it's just about Noel's aggressiveness and ability to anticipate the game. He's a very aggressive defender for such a skinny guy. He's fearless. A couple of things. First, Noel being able to check a guard in college is a little different than checking guards in the NBA. Ask pretty much every big man ever. Second, defense and rebounding aren't what the Wizards really need. Offense, offense and more efficient offense has to be need 1, 2 and 3. I'm not saying I'd pass on Noel if he's there and Porter is gone, I'm just talking about needs for the Wiz given their current roster makeup for next season.
  5. Forget Noel's injury because the real question is how would he make the Wizards better? I don't think he does much because this team is desperately in need of efficient offensive players. Rebounding and defense weren't a big problem last year. The biggest problem is scoring. Who in the draft best fits that need for the Wiz?
  6. I wonder if the Wiz are considering any trades using the #3 pick and expiring contracts. I don't mean for roll players, but for any all-star caliber players that might not be the happiest on their team. NO, I'm not talking about Cousins cause it's been talked about enough, but who knew Harden would be moved last year like he did.
  7. Some weights look like that now. The high school I coach at has that. Probably one 25 and two 15s on each side.
  8. You'd keep a guy with a .366 winning % over a guy with a .599 winning %? OOOOKKKKKAAAAAYYYY. Is there a stronger word than insanity?
  9. I'm a big Milsap fan, but I would not give up the #3 pick in the draft for him. I would only trade the #3 pick to Utah for either of two players: Kanter or Favors.
  10. How about the #3 pick and next years 1st plus expiring contracts Ariza and Okafor in a sign and trade for Dwight Howard? I don't particularly like Howard but you resign Webster to give you a starting 5 of: Wall Beal Webster Nene Howard On a more realistic note, the Wizards need to decide on Webster to determine this pick. If they resign Webster, go PF. No Webster means go SF.
  11. I was gonna say that draft talk started five games into the season if not sooner. The only way the pick gets moved is if it's coupled with an expiring contract since the Wiz have no cap room. Maybe Okafor has some trade value since it's an expiring deal.
  12. Leonsis is now bragging on the 15-7 mark when Beal, Wall and Nene all play together. It's clear he thinks everyone did a great job this season.
  13. You want a new GM asap to be evaluating the team, looking at trades with expiring contracts, making decisions on who to extend and for how much, any trade day trades, etc. A lot can be done this off season. Plus, being able to compete for an 8 seed in the Eastern Conference isn't saying much.
  14. Actually he said 10-20 minutes per month. A 7 footer always has a position if he can defend the post, rebound or score. There are plenty of veterans at any position that would serve the team better then a guy that never plays because he sucks at basketball. Doesn't matter if a guy is an athlete.
  15. If a guy sucks, you don't spend four million on him if you don't have to. Barring a dramatic turnaround by Vesely they better not pick up the club option.
  16. The problem with the Wizards and the draft is that there isn't going to be an obvious pick for Ernie so it's a near certainty he will get it wrong. Wall was the clear number 1 when drafted. Beal filled the biggest hole on the team and was a pretty easy pick to make by anyone. This year there won't be that obvious choice and those situations have pretty much been disasters for this organization.
  17. I don't think he's in a Wizards uniform next year. It's great he's having a career year and he's still young, but this team needs to keep maximum cap space available come 2014 off-season. Plus, how good is he really? A big time 14.23 PER isn't so great and this team doesn't need to keep players around in an attempt to keep any other player happy.
  18. The Wizards don't need a small forward in Caron Butler who is on the downside of his career. That's another move that doesn't make any sense in the grand scheme of building a winner. Same with the thought process of adding a second lottery pick next season. If anything, on draft day, the Wizards should look to trade this years pick, along with the expiring contracts that they will have, for an all-star caliber player if one is available. Since teams will be looking to clear cap space for 2014, a surprise player or two with longer contracts might be available.
  19. It's no different than the Wiz having to decide on whether Wall is a max player or having to move in a different direction. Completely agree with you though if Harden wouldn't have signed a max deal here. How bad of a franchise is this if that were to be true?
  20. Again, this isn't a knock on Beal at all. I, along with many others, really wanted to draft Beal. Would anyone not trade Beal straight up for Harden right now?
  21. This just doesn't make any sense at all. What core would Harden be in that would have to be broken up in three years? Harden becomes the center piece and everything is built around him. A ton of cap space is cleared in 2014 and a decision on Wall would have to be made at that point.
  22. HAHAHAHA I love people like you. Defend your position till the end regardless of how it makes you look. Since you know everything, what was the deal on the table for the Wizards? Oh yeah, I'm sure he made the Olympic team because he was some chump player and really, who can't make that team.
  23. It doesn't matter if Beal has the potential to be as good as James Harden because in the end it's just potential. A player of James Harden's ability at the still young age of 23 was available for a rookie with potential. Anyone that doesn't take that deal 100% of the time doesn't know a thing about basketball or building a NBA franchise and that's no knock on Beal.
  24. I would be stunned if Utah traded any of their youth. I think Jefferson and Millsap are both FAs after this season and they are going to have massive cap space to go along with moving Favors and Kanter into the starting roles. Unfortunately, it's highly unlikely we land any player in Free Agency worth much given the Wizards are maxed out next year.
  25. I second this and I'm not sure what people see in him that translates to anything but maybe a rotation player in the NBA. He doesn't seem to have the necessary quickness and that guys at the next level will go right around him.
