  1. And has been. Intentionally. By people who intentionally want it to continue that way. Which is kind of disappointing, to me. To me, Virginia ought to be trumpeting the fact that it's contributed four US Presidents. Including George Washington. But you'd think that Virginia's greatest moment was the Confederacy.
  2. It's the name of someone who's sole notable achievement was literally being willing to kill Americans. (I do think the rest of your post was a valid point, and very reasonable.)
  3. I'm judging their motives. And their honesty. Yes, I'll happily concede that it's possible that some of "these people" have fallen for the false history that's been intentionally pushed for over a century. Yes, it's a broad brush. That's the only way to describe a large group of people.
  4. I am fully willing to assert that we should honor George Washington, despite the fact that he owned slaves. To defend the position that the numerous things he did make him worthy of national honors despite what is now a flaw. Having said that? Anybody wanting to honor Lee or Stonewall Jackson? Is honoring them because they're glorifying the Confederacy. Not despite it.
  5. Just pointing out, the Civil War was 150 years ago. (And they fere fighting against the US, even then.)
  6. Trump and the GOP were all on board with hailing the vaccine, pointing out that Trump Did It, and our nation had been saved from disaster. Until their polling data said that their triggered Karen base were giving credit to Biden for successfully planning the rollout. Then suddenly the vaccine became tracking chips.
  7. I understand that one of the reasons for the creation of OSHA was that in the 1920's?, the US steel industry had 10% of their work force die on the job per year.
  8. Looking forward to RFKJr spots showing video of Trump taking credit for the vaccine.
  9. (Not a lawyer). 1) Yes, I believe that's true. 2) Doing so involves him invoking the 5th, possibly hundreds of times, in front of the jury. 3) And if he says "I did not have sex with that woman", then he can be cross examined, on that topic. And cannot invoke the 5th.
  10. They know that he can't speak three sentences without saying something that's provably false.
  11. Gotta say. If I'm on that jury? Those answers aren't making me believe her a lot more.
  12. Just saying. Our cops are routinely sent into situations where most civilians don't think it's a life or death situation. But the cop is required, for his own safety, to treat it like it is. Recall some statistics. They're from probably 50 years ago. But I assume they're still valid. Out of all the cops who die every year in the course of their job, the thing that more of them were doing, more than any other activity, was "traffic stop". And if you look at all the cops who died on the job, broken down to "what were they doing?", and adjust it for "how often do cops do that thing?". To get a "If the cop's dispatch is X, which dispatch has the highest chance of the cop dying?" Was "Domestic dispute." There's a legitimate reason why the cops have to be intentionally trained to think of these situations as potential assaults on themselves. But yes. I can see how that type of training can also really encourage an attitude of dividing the world into "cops" and "threats to cops". ---------- And, having said all that? I believe in cutting the cops a lot of slack, when the person who got shot actually has a gun. That slack does not extend to "well, he tried to run away, and he might have had a gun". Or "well, I told him to lay on the ground and he didn't." But if the subject had a gun? In his hand? Some slack is due.
  13. ("Tom Brady roast" meme) I recall once, the Daily Show saying that OK, due to audience demands, they were going to do some "Tom Brady's deflated balls" jokes. But just for a few minutes, and just this one. Only one I liked: "What's the only thing that can stand between Tom Brady's deflated balls and another Super Bowl trophy?" "The Giants." (Huge audience reaction.) "(Twice.)"
  14. I dunno. I could see the argument that "being married to this **** for five years has made me dumber" working.
  15. Just out of curiosity, should the leaders of Israel surrender themselves to the same court? Why or why not?
  16. Odds of this Supreme Court issuing a ruling that: 1) Holds corporations liable. 2) Holds gun industry corporations liable. Are.....
  17. Recalling an exchange from The Magnificent Seven. "Well one of us is an idiot." "You can get good odds on which."
  18. ... and justify it by saying that it's because they support the policies he will pass. Which they will not willingly state.
  19. "The problem is the ballots. If you get rid of the ballots, there won't be a transfer of power."
  20. "The DOJ indicating a Democrat at a time when the House is like a 3 vote majority is proof that the DOJ is politically motivated."
