Head Coach Jim Haslett, who lived in the neighborhood, heard about the incident and left a note at their home warning them to call him before talking to anyone else. Haslett, the most important authority figure in their lives, later met them at their home and told them to keep quiet, Smith-Williams says. She says she originally offered to take the fall and tell authorities the marijuana was hers, to protect Wally’s public image and career. Haslett told her it wouldn’t work. “He said, ‘They don’t want you. They want him,’” she recalls. “He said, ‘Don’t talk to the media. Don’t talk to the police. We will handle it.” It was a message that would stay with her.

I'm not sure he did anything wrong.  She offered to obstruct justice and lie to the cops, he said don't do that.  Then he told them what any lawyer would do, don't talk to the cops or the media.  Good advice.

I think its kind of her fault for thinking that Haslett's comments about "dont talk to the cops or the media" applied to domestic violence against her.  It is a totally different situation.  And frankly, its not fair to Haslett.

Is it bad that I want this to spread and hopefully lead to his departure from the Skins?lol

Good I hope its terrible that way he is forced to leave the skins.

I just want to point out that I think that's really pretty low, hoping that a coach for your team is in some way shamed so badly that he's forced to leave.

I mean, that's pretty bad behavior.

I haven't read the story, and won't (as long as it requires clicking on the Washington Post), but if this is true, then I'm not sure what he did wrong.

By all accounts, his inability to figure out how to adjust defenses aside, he's known as one of the really good guys in the NFL. Which I can believe.

Yeah, while he's mentioned in the article, the information about him has nothing at all to do with domestic violence.

The security system at the home of a player goes off, police show up and find weed on a table (no one is home). Haslett who lives near by finds out and goes over to talk to them (player and his wife, after police are gone), the player's wife offers to say it belongs to her, he tells her not to do that. He said don't talk to anyone and soon after a lawyer contacts them to handle the case.

I'm sorry but that's just really good advice on his part. I would hope any coach would do that.

Yeah, I'm sure in the background some strings were pulled to have the charges dropped but still, the information given that involves him directly is perfectly fine.

Now here this:

People agree to learn and follow the rules when they register. The rules page makes it clear there are NO EXCUSES.  :)

Now the only reason we have the hub-bub in the thread and among anyone reading the original title is because the OP decided to editorialize the headline, violating the rule.

Since we are not in a position to do such persistent and frequent janitorial duties as lately seem to be needed, and yet do want to see the board become a mess, we will simply let the bans fly faster, longer, and more often for awhile. Tell your friends.

I'm going to edit the title and close this. Anyone who wants to start a thread on this certainly may, if they do it according to our rules.
