OrangeSkin
Oh well, I guess we're stuck with David Terrell. Maybe we can pick up Tank Williams in the fourth round.

[ April 02, 2002, 09:45 PM: Message edited by: OrangeSkin ]
Cskin
Wow, and that sounds pretty reasonable as well. Oh well, he'll find out soon enough that Detroit will challenge for the Superbowl about the same year that one of OM's mystery asteroids (of a kilometer or more) will land on Lady OM's car. She being inside sleeping comfortably in his "meat hooks" arms.
Buddha
I'm actually relieved that we didn't get him. He'll be 33 in October and would more likely replaced Terrell at FS than Shade at SS. Sounds like the second coming of Mark Carrier.
OrangeSkin
I would've been glad to have him. Terrell is slightly below average. Nobody denies that we need safety help. Carrier was basically finished when we picked him up in that offseason signing rampage. Harris still has a number of good years left in him. Talent Wasted at a Desk
yeah, the contract he signed sounds similar to the typical one we've had so far this offseason. i wish we got him. i wonder what marvin lewis thinks.
OrangeSkin
I think Marvin still has a trick up his sleeve. Lance Schulters is still available, albeit we haven't heard anything about him. When we sign Schulters, you heard it here first.
GrimReaper21
I don't think if we have the money for Schulters, although I would love to have him. He went to college about 20 minutes from where I live.
Art
I wouldn't have been thrilled with Harris so it doesn't trouble me to see him taken by the Lions. Same with Semple. These guys wouldn't have been tragic signings, but, there were and are better options than these guys. Jones was one at OG. To me, standing firm at safety is appropriate unless we get a solid young upgrade there.
Gamebreaker
I'd like to upgrade the SS position, Shade is too much off a liability aganist the pass. Tight Ends usually have big games aganist us, at his expense.

Schulters is available, as well as Victor Green, Tony Parrish, and Kwame Lassiter. The last 3 I feel could be attained at a low cost.
GrimReaper21
Kwami Lassiter has been franchised, and Tony Parrish signed with the niners.
NavyDave
I'm glad we didnt sign him either if he is up in age like that.

Last year was Terrell's first as a Safety so I look for him to improve and we have a true Safety on the team name Ohalete a shade under 6'3 who did seem to be around the ball enuff to get an int and fumble
inmate running the asylum
I agree with NavyDave and Art, about not wanting Harris. The team has had a lot of good free agent signings to date, bringing in YOUNG veterans, instead of old geezers with nothing left in the tank.

If we can get a quality DT first, I would like to see us draft FS Lamont Thompson, hoping he might be there with our #2 pick. There are some other decent safeties available in the lower rounds, but I doubt that Marvin Lewis would start any of these rookies at safety.

[ April 03, 2002, 05:51 PM: Message edited by: inmate running the asylum ]
JoeSkins
Good, this saves up cap space on a potential bust and waste. We can't spend big bucks on safeties with our other problems here. He'd be like another Mark Carrier, and we don't even need a FS right now. Might as well re-sign Lyle.
