  1. Just wrote this piece for boxingscene.com, if you all could check it out...It's on the recent rash of canceled fights in boxing, and past fights that have been canceled as well...Any and all feedback is welcome...Thanks... http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&id=20520
  2. Yes, it would...It's very confusing...Hopefully they will one day go away, until then, we have to try, as boxing fans, to see the big picture...
  3. OK. To answer you question ACW, forget about all the so-called champs...They don't mean anything...you have to go by lineage...Going back a little bit, Freitas was champ, Corrales beat him, then Casamayor beat Corrales, just bc Casaymayor gets stripped of his titles for bs reasons from the organizations, and they divy them off, doesn't mean he isnt champ...He is THE CHAMP. Period...Marquez is fighting Casamayor, and if he wins, he woudl be THE CHAMP...then im sure if that happens, Pacman will fight Marquez sometime next year for the recognized championship...hope this helps...
  4. Sorry if I insulted you...I probably am clouded by the fact he is my favorite fighter...And yes, I would agree with Kellerman that it did look like Cotto-Margarito...He was def busted open by a punch, what isn't certain is if a butt cut him, and he punched just opened up the cut, which is possible...Nevertheless, Judah will be back in a big fight, because he has a few things going for him... 1. One of the recognizable fighters in the world. 2. Always in exciting fights. 3. Exciting personality. 4. He fought hard and was very determined in a losing effort to a guy who would give anyone fits... Say what you want about Judah, and there is a lot of truth to your post, the one thing you can't dog him for, is unlike a lot of fighters, he is always willing to fight anyone at anytime...Sorry if I offended you again...
  5. That's funny... First of all, the fight didn't go the full nine, so they score the partial round...Second of all, it's not my opinion, it's fact that the first was even on two of the three scorecards going INTO the ninth...Zab is far from a journeyman, correct spelling, hes still a top 10 fighter...Real cool of you to try to say he quit, Zab has never ducked anyone, I want to see what you do after being battered for 8 and a half rounds... As for growing the f up, you're the one who said Judah got punked, when it's pretty clear he didn't...I never said Judah was going to win, just said who knows what happens if the cut doesn't happen...
  6. No way they're putting Cotto in with Punisher after the beating he took, at least not yet. He'll take some time off, fight a fringe contender, and then hopefully be back in the mix.
  7. how the hell did Zab get punked? Entering the ninth round, the fight was even on two of the three cards...Get a f'in clue....Clottey tore his biceps so theres a good chance Judah is going to fight Margartio now, as reported on ESPN.com...
  8. They are only showing a highlight package of the Peterson fight...
  9. Forrest and Mora are fighting on Sept. 13 on the undercard of Casamayor-Marquez. Lange is not a good fighter at all, he could be 50-0, records don't mean anything, if you beat 50 scrubs...
  10. bc he didnt vacate it yet, bc he doesnt know who is fighting next, he will make a decision soon i'm sure...
  11. No, its bs, because Rahman quit like the dog that he is. Also, ACW, I personally wouldn't waste my money on that crap fighter Jimmy Lange. Those tickets are outrageously priced also. Instead, make the trek up to either AC for the Pavlik Hopkins fight or to NYC for the Calzaghe Jones fight. I am covering the Friday Night Fights Card at Ibiza so we'll meet up if you're attending.
  12. Well not necessarily ACW. Usually, the fighters will vacate the championship if they move up in class. And I agree completely with you Sith, no MMA fight can touch boxing when its at its best. Stillunknown, good analysis. Margarito is far from unbeatable. Styles make fights. Clottey was def winning up until he broke his hand. Gotta give him his props tho, he was one tough SOB.
  13. ummm, this is hands down one of the best fights I've ever seen. And now a fight between Williams and Margarito would be for the RING CHAMPIONSHIP at welterweight!!
  14. pumped for tonights fight, i'm so sick of virginia though, no sports bars show big boxing fights on ppv, only ufc fights...in new york, no one really gives a crap about ufc...
  15. Sorry, also, if Pavlik and Jones fought, they would have to fight at the same weight, or as contracted.
  16. I write for secondsout.com and am covering the fight at Ibiza on August 7th, that Digital will be at. And yes, theoretically Pacman could be both. Now, it's not needed for any of those corrupt organizations to sanction any fight, it will still be for a world title. For example, a few years ago, Tarver and Johnson were the two best light heavyweights in the division. Tarver had the WBC title and Johnson the IBF and WBA. Something like that. They wanted to fight each other, but the WBC said that Tarver had to fight the no. 1 contender, as rated by the WBC, which of course was some bum. Ditto for Johnson with the WBA, another bum. So both said, screw it, threw their titles in the trash can, literally, and went on to fight each other. They were both stripped of their titles, and the highest rated bums fought for the fragmented titles. And Johnson beat Tarver and he was THE LIGHTHEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD!! And he was considered as such. As such, he held the ring title. So he is the lineal champ so to speak. Roy Jones was the champ for so long, Tarver beat Roy, Johnson beat Tarver, Tarver beat Johnson in the rematch, Hopkins beat Tarver, and then Calzaghe beat Hopkins. So Calzaghe is THE CHAMP. Yet he doesn't own a single light heavy belt by one of those corrupt sanctioning bodies, he does hold the prestigious ring magazine title. ESPN only recognizes the ring rankings. I realize it can be confusing, I have been a diehard boxing fan since 2001 and now write for the sport and have attended dozens of big time fights in the Garden and Atlantic City. I didn't realize about all this crap for about 2 years, as it is really confusing and turns many a fan off to the spot. Any more questions feel free to ask... By the way, I see you live in Arlington, what are you doing for the fight tonight?
  17. No, we're not talking about the big 4, bc "the big 4" is a big joke. All boxing writers, myself included, consider them a joke as they have ridiculous madatories and are just in it to make a buck. The Ring champs are the true champs, because there are no sanctioning fees and everyone is rated. Whereas in the "big 4", they don't rate champs of each organization. Champ means one and only CHAMP. there can't be four champs. So, Calzaghe can defend the light heavyweight title, which he is against roy jones jr on Nov. 8 and then defend the super middleweight title against Pavlik next year, which he is also expected to do. I know this stuff is really complicated, a big reason boxing isn't as big as it used to be. Any questions let me know.
  18. ACW, Pacman is ranked in two weight classes because he's the champ at 130 and ranked at 135. Thats whats great about the ring, they dont strip champs, so when Pacman vacates, he'll be ranked at only 135. Also, Calzaghe is the champ at both 168 and 175.
  19. ACW, I saw the Casamayor Santa Cruz fight and it was indeed a robbery!! Not even close. Don't get so caught up on the alphabet titles. They're meaningless. Immerse yourself in the ring rankings if you dont already do so. Those are the true champs and the only champions anyone true boxing fan recognizes. If people stop recognizing those terrible organizations, they will have less credibility. http://thering-online.com/ringpages/ratings2.html Also, Direll is going to smoke Paschall, and Direll isn't even in the top 10 at 168. Taylor-Lacy is a go for Nov. 15. http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/notebook?page=notebook/boxingjuly25
  20. Should be a war. I'm picking Cotto by late stoppage. Can't wait.
  21. Peterson fight probably won't be televised. And Paschall is going to be SMOKED by The Matrix.
  22. I highly doubt that. Nobody puts a beating on BHOP. It will be a close and competitive fight.
  23. Here is my first boxing article. Give me any feedback, positive or negative. Thanks guys. http://secondsout.com/World/news.cfm?ccs=225&cs=26447
  24. Judah is far from a bum...He has a big fight against Joshua Clottey on August 2nd and may very well get the DLH fight if he wins...Also, you have to admit that Cotto two ridiculous low blows took something out of Zab... But yea, I agree, Judah cant stay focused for 12 rounds and Money May has excellent focus and boxing IQ...
