Ghost of
Lavalais, Tubbs maybe. But Lavalais is a guy I've seen. Neil? Haven't seen enough of him.
terpfan
starks just announced hes entering the draft... where do u thinik he will go? late first?
Hog Fever
Lavalais looks like he'll be a heck of a pro prospect. He might not last till we pick in the second.
Jimbo
This is part of the reason I think Harris won't be our pick in round 1. I really believe it will be Winslow, Taylor or Udeze. The pre-draft workouts will be telling because NONE of these guys will show up at the combine.
method man
terpfan... i dont think we will get him because he will go midfirst at least in mocks.
Montilar
And I'm betting that some of these "2cd rd DL talent" goes in the first.... You can spout them as being second round talent, but DL is one of those spots people target early and often. By the time they do workputs and the combine, the projected drafts you see now will be amazingly different. and the draft will likely look nothing like what "experts project". DraftNik
exactly... i remember last year ty warren was supposed to be a possible 2nd round draft pick for us and he ended up going at around 15. It's very possible that almost all of these guys will go round 1. it seems like the demand for DTs never decreases.
TheDoyler23
Get the best DE in round one, get the best DT (Randy Starks) in rd 2. Pray for a speedy maturation process!
Chrisbob74
How can you say there will be a glut of DT's in the second, you don't know what is going to happen in the draft, last year, a lot of teams moved up or reached (or it was considered a reach) for DL help, could happen again! RedskinsNation
I think we may do more damage in the offseason acquiring FA DT's more than anything. Daryl Gardener has said he wants to come back here and Kearse said he wants to reunite w/ Gregg Williams - Sapp and LaVar are such good buddies so I wouldnt be surprised if #99 was here as well. SkinsNorth
IMO, the DT class is somewhat weak up top, but has a ton of depth, so i agree that some real talent will be available in the 2-3 rd. FYI, Cody is not coming out.
Novato
Grant Wistrom and Robaire Smith through FA and a DT and DE from RD 2 - 3 in the draft. I believe that having a top 5 position should allow a team to get a super blue chipper. Trust Gibbs and Bugeyes Cerrato, I'll grant Vinny that he has been dead on target with the first rounders (LaVar, Champ, Samuels, etc).
Funkyalligator
I agree with Novalo...Wistrom and Smith......then I think we should trade down our #5(we could probably pick up an extra 2nd or 3rd rounder and not have to pay as much to a rookie) with the 1st round pick we could get a DE or DT or even an rb(althought I don't think we need one) and then with the 2nd 3rd rounders we could load up our DL. Actually, when he said, he probably meant it. He just changes like the weather, just a real nut case.
Talent Wasted at a Desk
Gardener: aging, bad back, head case, amazing player draft pick: young, good back, unknown, potential i'll take a top draft pick.
freakofthesouth
Realistiscally, I see us trading down, and adding some picks in the intermediate rounds. This way, Gibbs can do his legwork, and conclude who has the most potential w/ the most reasonable pricetag.
mcgraw238
Udeze in the first and and a DT (Lavalais, Starks, McNeil) would significantly improve our DL. Add in a free agent addition.
Thinking Skins
Honestly, I just say we trade down from 5 to somewhere in teh rnage of 20-25 or so and get a pick in each round. Then draft like 3 defensive linemen in the first 3 rounds and running backs and safeties in the lower rounds. I mean the more we draft, the better our chances of success. Or we can always trade picks for proven plaeyers.
mcgraw238
Blakman211, I like youir plan as well. If we started sliding down in round 1, like JJ at Dallas used to, we could accumulate quite a few picks in the late first through third. We could then fill multiple needs with this draft. DE, DT, RB, C, S, LB.
Ernie5
I'm always for trading down. Starks, I think, will be gone by round 2.
NavyDave
If we trade down to 22-23, we had better have picked up TE Kleinsasser, Robaire smith, winstrom or kearse, resigned champ and discovered that iffy, bowen and terrell are keepers at safety. The Sir
Two Words: Dwan Edwards
ktball74
Why is no one talking about Dwan Edwards from Oregon State? This guy is a beast, and would hopefully, but doubtedly fall to us in the 2nd round.
cowboykilla
Just another name to throw out there: Darnell Docket. He will most likely be available in the 2nd round, but I'd definitely take Levalais before him. Udeze and Levalais would be crucial.
