No he should not have been fined that much. Horn hurt nothing by his harmless act.... If the Giants dont like those kind of celebrations don' let them score then they cant celebrate.... Sorry Tom I don't mean to slam your G-men, I just think horns celebration was not a derrogatory(spelling?) one.. maybe a concise warning about future instances like this if it bothers th NFL..

Horn Will Be Fined for Cell-Phone Celebration

Tuesday, December 16, 2003; 7:45 PM

NEW ORLEANS -- New Orleans Saints receiver Joe Horn will be fined $30,000 by the NFL for making a choreographed cell-phone call in the end zone to celebrate a touchdown, his agent said.

Ralph Vitolo said Horn told him he received word Tuesday from the team that the NFL would fine him $30,000. Vitolo said he would appeal.

"Fining him is one thing, but to me that's very excessive. This is not a murder case," Vitolo said.

The Saints and the NFL did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.

Return specialist Michael Lewis would be fined $5,000 for helping orchestrate the stunt, Horn told Vitolo, adding that he would pay the fine.

After catching the second of four touchdown passes in a 45-7 victory over the New York Giants on Sunday, Horn was handed a phone by Lewis, who pulled it out from under the padding used to protect the goal post. Horn was still wearing his helmet when he punched in numbers, put the phone to the earhole and spoke into it for a few seconds.

"Would I take it back? No, no. I knew exactly what I was doing," Horn said after the game.

The Saints were penalized 15 yards for unsportsmanlike conduct for the stunt.

Head coach Jim Haslett said the team would not punish Horn, but that he was disappointed in the receiver's "selfish" act.

After San Francisco's Terrell Owens pulled a pen out of his sock and autographed a football after scoring a touchdown in a game, NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue sent a memo to all teams warning that such stunts would be punished.

The pom-poms definately were the best...now that was spontaneous. The cell phone...f'ing dumb...he was calling Roaf's wife to see if he could hit those skins again.

Joe Horn's a nice player, but he's always had a humongous all-consuming ego since he got here. He's more like Keyshawn in mental makeup than anyone else, meaning he's physically tough, will play hurt and will go over the middle, but when things aren't going to his liking or he's not "the guy" (win or lose), he pouts. Down here most people like him and he's viewed as a "proud warrior" who wears his heart on his sleeve, but to me he's Keyshawn Light. He'll always be talking about himself in the third person and feeling slighted and believing the rules don't apply to him, and eventually he'll be a cancer in the locker room if he's not already. He's emblematic of the great downfall of the heroic, selfless teammate of yesteryear. I wish they'd have suspended him and issued a statement pointing out that anyone who dropped a gimme TD against Tampa last week that effectively killed our playoff hopes isn't allowed to celebrate anything, even in the privacy of his own home in front of his floor-to-ceiling portrait. Now Deuce? There's a throwback, tough hombre. One Deuce is worth ten Joe Horns. Punk.

Yep, Horn only makes a measly couple mill a year. I'm sure he'll end up a bum in the street.

It's happened before.

It didn't say how many kids he had, did it? This guy could be like Shawn Kemp.

Also, he is past thirty and I don't see him making millions a year once he gets out of the NFL.

I don't know. Maybe he'll become the spokesman for Verizon or something!
