Scientology, cults, and associated madness

So I've been reading some stuff about Miscavige's wife.

So Remini filed the missing persons report a few years ago and the LAPD basically said move along, nothing to see here. Turns out, since the show's been on, Remini's attorney has been trying to get LAPD to provide some more info on how they confirmed the wife was alive and well.

An LAPD source that Remini met working on King of Queens says they closed the case without even seeing Shelley.

But wait, there's more. The LAPD Lieutenant that said it was closed wouldnt confirm whether her identity was confirmed outside the presence of church officials.

And then said LAPD LT has subsequently turned up in Scientology flyers as a speaker at their events.

Most evidence, such as it is, seems to indicate she's locked up at a secret Scientology compound somewhere in LA.

That's interesting. After yesterday's show, the practice of locking in of Sea Org members and chasing them down and dragging them back when they escape was pretty scary.

Not a religion, definitely a cult, and shouldn't have IRS religious exemption.

Tax those mother****ers and make them adhere to Federal nondiscrimination statutes.

In this episode of the Waking Up podcast, Sam Harris speaks with author Lawrence Wright about al-Qaeda & ISIS, Arab culture, 9/11 conspiracy theories, the migrant crisis in Europe, Scientology, parallels between L. Ron Hubbard and Donald Trump, the Satanic cult panic, and other topics.

this is a recent interview with lawrence wright, who wrote 'going clear- scientology and the prison of belief' before it was made into a documentary. wright is a really interesting, well traveled and smart man. and thats not the only thing we have in common :)  hes said a couple of times how hes fascinated by "why people believe one thing rather than another" when it comes to religion in particular. that subject has always been incredibly interesting to me.

he starts off talking about radical islam/islamism/jihadism. he gets into scientology around 1:13. good stuff.
