1984 Photo- Notice Monk's facemask that he is wearing. this is the only year that he wore what is considered the XL OPO facemask. This is due to the fact that he changed from the WD-1 helmet (which is approximately the same size as the TK helmets) to the VSR-1 helmet. The OPO facemask that he wore in college and at the start of his career won't fit on the VSR-1 so this XL OPO was devised by Schutt. The following year, Monk would change to the OPO-SW facemask which he wore for the remainder of his career.

1990 Photo....Please note the font on Monk's white jersey in the next few photos. The font matches the font used on the Mitchell and Ness jersey that is pictured earlier on the thread. The burgundy jersey that Monk is pictured in from 1990 is a leftover from the 1989 season as the team used some leftover jerseys from 1989 since Sand Knit/MacGreggor manufactured the jerseys those years. This also is the same philosophy that lead to the two different name fonts and number fonts used in 1993. The team used the good jerseys left over from the previous season first as they were not going to waste good jerseys. This is why the players ended up wearing different fonts in the same season.

1991 Photo...again, take note of the pronounced scoop on the 1 and the shape of the 8. In black and white photos the middle of the 8 looks exaggeratedly skinny where the middle bar attaches to the sides as you can only see the burgundy part and not the yellow at first glance.
