SC_RedskinsFan
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7485177/source-miami-dolphins-plan-hire-joe-philbin-next-coach The Miami Dolphins plan to hire Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin as their coach, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Philbin interviewed twice with the Dolphins, once on Jan. 7 and again on Wednesday. He interviewed Thursday for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coaching vacancy, a league source told Schefter. Philbin decided to remain in consideration for the Dolphins job despite his son's recent drowning in a Wisconsin river. After spending a week away, Philbin rejoined the Packers on Sunday for the divisional playoff loss to the New York Giants.
Hitman21ST
I think we have a new frontrunner for Matt Flynn.
SC_RedskinsFan
Yeah that's what I was thinking as well. I wonder how losing Philbin will effect the Packers offense next year....
SkinsFTW
I wonder how losing Philbin will effect the Packers offense next year.... Probably about as much as the Patriots every time their OC gets a head coaching job, lol.
prsnljournalst3
Probably about as much as the Patriots every time their OC gets a head coaching job, lol. but have the pats had an OC for 5 years in a row like that?
Gibbs Hog Heaven
but have the pats had an OC for 5 years in a row like that? Weis was the OC through the Pats 3 Lombardi's. Not sure how long a duration he had the gig without looking it up, but it must of been around that mark. Hail.
Riggo-toni
McCarthy has always called the plays, so any effect on the Pack will be minimal. Good luck to Philbin, but this hiring sounds rather "Zornish" to me.
pjfootballer
I can honestly say I never heard of this guy until what happened to his son 1 week ago.
No_Pressure
I don't know much about Joe Philbin, and of course it could be a Joe Gibbs style genius lucky hire from a bigtime offensive team (who thought Joe Gibbs was a great coach vs. Don Coryell and with the talent on that SD offense?) I think that the chances are better that we're discussing the Joe Philbin firing in a couple of seasons with disbelief that he was ever hired as the head coach in the first place. There are a lot of head coaching candidates going around these days that I've never heard of in my life and I don't know if it is a lot of teams trying to land that diamond in the rough coach, or if these guys are merely the new generation of head coaches and I haven't been paying enough attention. elkabong82
So Cleveland and Miami both have GB connections now. Nice. I think they may be content to roll with Moore though and just use draft and free agency to add another WR and bolster their secondary.
B&GVol24
Not sure if it's official, but there are reports that the Dolphins plan to hire former Packers, Texas A&M coach Mike Sherman as their offensive coordinator. Think he'll bring Tannehill along for the ride?
