The Godawful for Griffin post got me thinking...

So we are the redskins. No matter if we say we are rebuilding and going to a youth movement we still end up spending serious cash in free agency (god do i hate this about us). But I was looking at at the free agents for 2012 and came up with some slogans for moves the redskins always seem to make... check out the list on nfltraderumors.com and come up with your own slogans...its pretty fun

Spending the dough for Dwayne Bowe?

No Action for Desean Jackson?

Playing like Phyllis for Big Peyton Hillis?

Fanning for Manning?

Lookin real skeevie for a bill named Stevie? (Johnson)

No wins for Matt Flynn?

Stop the pain Reggie Wayne

I guess no one picked up on this being something where you can have fun with. Guys lighten up. And Literal Larry aka Hitman, you are right we didnt make a bonehead free agent move this year. But we did for 10 years before that. Im going to side with the 10 rather than the 1 and say we do it again. And Yes i know griffin is in the draft not a free agent.

So, you're thinking that Shanahan, who showed that he doesn't want to go for the big splash in free agency, will just up and say "**** it, Vinny's way was better, I think I'll try that"

Really?

I think that once Snyder has a lot to do with that. I want to soo soo soo soo bad to agree with you. I hate the idea of doing that. Look at the teams in our divison not named Iggles. All built there teams through the draft and they are great. Just being a redskins fan your trained to expect your team to sign an aging over the hill free agent and have it not pan out. That was the reason i posted all those slogans.

On another note, the more i see Shannahan the more I doubt that he was the mastermind of denvers running game. Kubiak made Slaton a 1200 yard rusher, Arian look like the next coming of Jesus, and now Ben Tate. Don't get me wrong Arian Nation and Tate are great RBs, but Slaton? What has shannahan done since losing Kubiak?

Kubiak made them 1000 yard rushers using Shanahan's Zone Blocking System.

2006 (Broncos first year without Kubiak): Tatum Bell: 1025 yards

So Shannahan had 1-1,000 yard runner without Kubiak....I dont get your point? Kubiak has certainly perfected the ZBS....cant say that for our team right now

Kubiak's only had two...Slaton his rookie year and Foster last year. Slaton's second year he only put up 437 yards. Before Slaton Kubiak had Ron Dayne who put up 600 yards his best year. It's hard to say that the ZBS is all on Kubiak.

You guys really think Mike Shanahan isn't going to use free agency? I really don't see why would think that. Free agency is not the devil, if done correctly it works well. You just can't rely on it too much because it will bring in older players at a very high price usually. Mike is going into year three of five, there is no time to develop an entire offense of draft picks. The OLine is weak, the wide outs can certainly use an upgrade, we don't have a QB, and lets face it Mike isn't thrilled with his running backs. On a good note, we should be OK at tight end... maybe. These things aren't going to be solved entirely via the draft.

this thread went from someone not realizing you don't have to suck to get a good free agent, to dropping some serious info from a serious source.

ummm all I can say is I hope they do it smartly LL; I think its ugly right now but we might just be building a young core.

To be honest this is one of my favorite years as a redskins fan because its shown a true commitment to a long term rebuild which in today's NFL is so important. I don't think you can just buy a win now franchise anymore, the margin of difference is so small and the young dudes are just faster and stronger.
