It's the giant hogweed, an invasive species, and the Department of Environmental Conservation is asking for help locating outbreaks so they can send crews to nip it in the bud. The agency has a Giant Hogweed Hotline at 845-256-3111 for people to call and report sightings. Callers are asked to provide photos and site information, but avoid touching the plant. Stew
Ive seen blooms like that on weeds growing in the median of highways... nothing that large, granted, but the same cluster of white "blooms" on the top of the plant, with a largely bare stalk? They are all over NOVA and Central VA, agaon, just not as big. Prolly a different species.

It's not a native species either, but its no big deal.
