WP" Bruce Allen leaves a fan a voice mail

This is at LEAST the 3rd time I've heard of Bruce replying to a fan. And in a very personal manner, not some copy of a copy form letter. Also seems he's quick to reply.

I think we should all be very very happy and grateful to be so removed from the horror that was Vinny. Not to mention the clever contracts/trades he's made (sans McNabb, but that's hindsight/Shanny's move). geez, how in the HELL did Vinny last so long here???

I've sent several e-mails to the Skins for years. Never to complain about performance on the field, but rather for suggestions on tailgating, FedEx Field, etc. I never got a response.

Recently I sent an e-mail to Bruce Allen about the band and got responses from him and Larry Michael. Say what you want about the football operation on the field, but the the PR for fan relations at Redskins Park is def. improved. Kudos to Bruce Allen. The responses are actually personalized.

Original email (I took out some things that identified myself):

Dear Mr. Allen,

I just wanted to email you about a request about player intros at FedEx Field. Maybe you can shed some light on this:

A few years ago (I want to say 2005 was the most recent year) the band played HTTR right after Mark Kessler said, "And now, Coach XXX and your (insert whatever year) Washington Redskins," and the players were running onto the field.

Like this from the 2005 Dallas game:

Since then, they play the hype video, Kessler says his thing and then they play some standard stadium pump up song. This year was Enter Sandman

Like this from the 2010 Dallas game:

I don't dislike this current method, but I loved when the band played HTTR instead of PA system music. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for you time.

My response less than an hour later from Bruce Allen (most likely a secretary):

Dear XXX:

Thank you for your support of the Washington Redskins.

Larry Michael and I will discuss your thoughts re: introductions.

Thanks again,

Bruce Allen

PS -- we are in personnel meetings this week, looking for more players that will cause HTTR to be played more often during a game.

And my response from Larry Michael, who was CCed on Allen's response:

XXX,

Thanks so much for taking the time to send us your comments on the band

and it's performances during Redskins games. Over the last two years we

have made a concerted effort to revitalize the band and give them a

great platform to perform for our fans. I will note that three years ago

the playing of Hail to the Redskins was in fact heard recorded at times.

While at other times the band played it LIVE. One of the first things we

did was make the change so that HTTR is ALWAYS PLAYED LIVE!

Alas, as Bruce Allen replied, we didn't get a chance to hear it often

enough last season.......

In addition to getting the Band new uniforms last year (I think they

looked almost as sharp as our Burgundy and Gold team uniforms!), we also

honored all Band members with over 20 years of service with a specially

designed commemorative Ring, including each members name and years of

service.

On the music side, we have formatted the Band to play not only in the

pregame, but at a minimum of 2 times each quarter, as well as percussion

segments, and special themed pieces as well.

In direct response to your mention of the Band to play HTTR in the

pregame intro, we will add this to our list of suggestions when the time

comes to plan out our 2011 Game Day entertainment. It sounds like a

good idea to me, and as we go over our plans it will be suggested as a

possible element for our pregame intros. One issue I can foresee is that

the Band might not be in position to play in the current band stand

during this specific time in our pregame timeline. The Band is miked,

and unless they are in place it will be very hard to hear them in the

stadium with the great fan noise during our pregame.

Anyway, much appreciated the e mail, Hail to the Redskins, and here's to

many opportunities after TDs this year to hear the song played, and

sung!

Take care.

Larry Michael

Very impressed by this.

I never even knew that Larry had input into stuff like gameday intros. I knew he was their play by play man, and had other duties as it related to Redskins Nation and the like, but never game day related stuff.

This is all more of the same from "Puppet-Master" Snyder. He's still pulling all of the strings at Redskins Park, don't kid yourselves, Bruce Allen is just a figurehead to make it seem like things have change. This is all just another ploy for Snyder to grind more money out of us, next thing you know they'll start implementing fan's suggestions because it gets more fans in the seats! Snyder must think we're dumb.

I see Bruce changing the attitudes of the front office. I see Mike changing the attitudes of the players. I wish there was someone that could change the attitudes of the fans. This kind of post reeks of how low we've sunk as a fanbase. For every positive thing that happens, someone has to piss on a thread with their Anti-Snyder bashing. This just gets old, "real old.".

LOL. It really sucks that Snyder is faking us all out by doing things that improve our experience. No matter how much fun I have at games from now on I won't be fooled.
I can't have been a coincidence that they got a jumbotron as soon as Bruce Allen showed up. I love that guy!

They'll believe it when they see wins; nothing else matters.
