NFL: Blue/Red Chip Ratings

I honestly have no clue what these player ratings mean, or how they're determined. But it's the offseason, so whatever!

Blue Chip

Donovan McNabb (12.5 points)

Albert Haynesworth (7.5 points)

Red Chip

Chris Cooley (5 points)

Andre Carter (7 points)

Brian Orakpo (7.5 points)

London Fletcher (5 points)

Head Coach (10 points)

Mike Shanahan

13. WASHINGTON REDSKINS (54 points)

The Redskins made two moves this offseason that increased their talent pool by 22.5 points -- trading for McNabb and hiring Shanahan. Two very smart moves that are interrelated.

I had to dig a little, but here's the scoring...

A CHIPPY GAME

Michael Lombardi's definitions for blue- and red-chip players:

Blue-chip player: Rates among the top 10 at his position in the league. He is good enough to create mismatches vs. most opponents. He must also be one of the team's featured players and have a direct impact on the outcome of the game.

Red-chip player: Plays the game with no real weaknesses, is a solid starter, and will be able to capitalize on certain opponents, but is never consistently dominant. He might not play as well against the league's very best, but shows up each week and has a high degree of competitiveness, ranking among the top 15 at his position.

Hell, it's no worse than ASF's "secret" formula for QBs :ols:

:ols: True.

But, it doesn't properly fit the way I believe the league should be, so I've devised a new formula which takes into account altitude of stadium, the NFL tenure of the head coach, and how closely related the teams GM is to said team's past history and past coaches, but by far the biggest factor is how much burgundy they have in their uniforms.

So, pretty much, every year we're winning the SB.:D
