Raises rates on old people

Say Hello to a loss of FREEDOM

Merry ****ing Christmas

This is such a good bill that theyve had to sneak it through at every important juncture, claim that it's bad because of the GOP, and still cant tell anyone why its a good thing.

Im beyond wanting to see folks like Harry Reid lose. I want to see him hanged in the public square.

Why is it when the particulars of the bill are brought up the Republicans are attacked?

Are ya'll so ashamed of the product you wish to deflect blame for it?

I've listened to the Senate debate on C-SPAN. "particulars" you are talking about are at best misleading asinine half-truths. Look at the list you have posted earlier. Do you want to be taken seriously after that? Good luck.

Senator John Ensign (R-Nev.) yesterday talking about fellow senators breaking their "solemn oath" to the constitution by passing health care reform legislation. A bit hypocritical coming from a man who broke his "solemn oath" to his wife.

He is correct.. this is the first time in the History of the United States that you have to buy something because you 'are'. And i thought several University Constitutional Professors had pointed out that it was UnConstitutional. Nice personal hit at the end there, makes it sexier.

none of my democrat friends can tell me what this Bill actually does. But for some reason, they're for it. lol. This is crazy.

You could start by watching or listening to C-SPAN and maybe trying to get some better informed friends.

Here is a good place to get informed, maybe watch Sen. Max Baucus first because he tends to do good overviews of the bill and breaking down of opposition's arguments:

Well then kindly list the benefits or engage in debate as to the veracity of my assertions.

I'll be here:D...I'll defend anything I say and I obviously am willing to put my opinion out there.

Casting blame on others and questioning veracity is AVOIDING the issues.

Let's find the TRUTH.

Alexey: How much will it cost a family of 4 that make 80k in DC area? (your from here/there)

Skins@thegoalline: How much will it cost when it runs 10 consecutive years without the years of buildup upfront.

DeanCollins: how much will it cost a 49yr old in NC for single coverage based on the bill?

The Senate also voted to lift the national debt ceiling up to $12.394 Trillion :dj:
I oughtta refuse to pay taxes until I get paid back what I'm owed from the gov't. Of course, I'D go to jail, because I'm not a Congressperson

Sorry I am not interested in debating this with you. I am aware of pretty much every point that you may make. I've listened to the Senate debate. Not interested in replaying it in person.

Deny and deflect. Rinse, repeat.

Instead of telling me why the GOP is wrong, why not simply tell me what this bill does that is a good thing for me?

No, I am telling you that you would be better off getting informed about this elsewhere.

Nobody knows for sure, of course ;)

I'm sure there are CBO's numbers about that available. It also depends on your current level of coverage. You may end up paying a bit more or a bit less. (I think premiums are expected to rise for 7% of population, but for better coverage)

Own it Libs, It's 100% your beast and every bit of negative (even just perceived negatives) will haunt those who voted this ridiculous, nonsense, do nothing bill for the rest of their careers in politics.

enjoy

I'm with Alexey on this one. This bill does a lot. It just doesn't do what was most important. It doesn't help with controling the inflation of healthcare costs, it doesn't introduce competition into a system which desparately needs competition. It doesn't curb the healthcare companies ability to just continue to raise prices tripple the rate of inflation and double the rate of GDP for another decade.

Now what it does do is create a healthcare system which works for more than just the wealthy and the healthy. It ends the systemic problem of healthcare costs being the #1 reason sited for bankrupcies in this country, for people WITH INSURANCE. Fact is unless you worked for the Federal Government or a large corporation, every American was one big sickness away from being bankrupted under our old system. This bill ends pre-existing conditions, it ends caps on yearly and lifetime expenses. It also ends large profitable corporations not offering healthcare to their workers and handing them medicaid forms with employment forms.. ( Walmart, Fed-Ex).

The bill spends a bunch of money on many different ideas geared towards improving our healthcare system. Like community clinics which are much less expensive than emergency rooms. Like healthcare exchanges to help consumers better understand the differences between plans. Like fully covering preventative care for the first time. All good things.

I'm not worried about the cost. As I've said 1000 times before spending 800 billion to reform a 35 trillion dollar segment of the economy ( 2% ) isn't outlandish; also most of this bill is paid for by cutting other government programs. Even having said all that in it's entirety this bill is cheaper than Bush's healthcare plan of 2006 which 100% of went onto the federal deficite. All the folks moaning about the cost of this one, were silent on the cost of that one. Which I find very telling. The cost really isn't an issue, it's the fact Obama and the Dems actually paid for those costs. Which I think is a good and responsible thing to do.

They still need to do something about healthcare costs and healthcare inflation. Until those issues are tackled we won't be able to put healthcare aside for any significant period of time.

I think this bill does contain some improvements there, such as bundling of payments, which is supposed to encourage doctors to communicate and treat conditions in a team-like manner, rather than bounce patience from a specialist to specialist.

"This will be the most important piece of social legislation since the Social Security Act passed in the 1930's and the most important reform of our health care system since Medicare passed in the 1960's," said Obama....

So it compares to two Big Government programs going bankrupt

Alllllrighty then!!!!

Well, if it makes you feel better 3/4s of the TARP money lent to the banks have been repaid and supposedly we're 16 billion ahead (at least based on a report I heard in the morning news today) So, sometimes the conservative gloom and doom can be wrong. Perhaps, this will be the same (not holding breath), though I suspect when Social Security and Medicare were first passed Conservatives thought the world would end and it didn't... in fact, we have thrived and gone through many prosperous times since its passage.

No problem. I hope that you will find the time to do the research.

It all says what the GOP is saying. And the only response from the left is "No it's not".

Everything I read tells me that Im going to have to pay more for my own HC coverage. AND Im going to pay more in taxes to fund other peoples.

Where is the benefit to me?
