Shanny HC, who's the DC???

If Shanahan does become the HC, he's already said he wants to play a 3-4 defense. He wants to follow the Steelers method. Shanahan is a great a choice as some might believe.

That Super Bowl was in 1987 - the game has evolved.

In addition Shanhan was not the coach for Denver in that game, it was Dan Reeves plus the Hogs while dominating that game did so against Denvers defense not their offensive line.

I was all ready to blast him about this, until I had the thought that Shannahan coached under Reeves and realized that he was offensive coordinator at the time of that superbowl.

That said, he won two superbowls as head coach later on.

(and one with the 49ers as offensive coordinator)

So I don't really think it's fair to put a big black mark against him because of that game.

And yeah the Denver defense was a large part of the problem during that superbowl.

I hear a lot of people on hear saying they want Jerry Gray to be HC. Eh, I don't even know if I want him to be DC. Me, if you're going to bring in a new HC after just two years, he needs to pick all his own guys. Curious if anyone has the 411 on potential defensive cordinators for 2010. You know, HCs that might get fired, DCs with expiring contracts, or position coaches who are at the point of moving up.

Or, if it makes you feel safe, should Jerry Gray be promoted to DC since Blache is likely retiring?

Also I have said repeatedly I thought they should have dumped Zorn and made JG the interim to see what would happen. I love Papa Blache too but he doesn't want the starting gig. I also said that without race entering into it in any shape or form.

I haven't been a fan of Zorn since he's looked clueless since our slide last year.

I would probably pick Gray over him.

I don't know if I'd want Gray as head coach or not, but race doesn't have a damn thing to do with it.

I don't care much for the coverage schemes they're running, but I'm not sure how much he has to do with that.

In any case I think we can probably do better than Gray, since his unit has been the one to lose a lot of the games lately.

I really think Gray knows the game; the secondary was the strength of this team even when there was no pass rush last year and i think he's the reason our pass defense is ranked where it is now.

I also give him credit for the drafting well in the secondary.

Coach Gray has been a DC before and he was a HC candidate last year.

I'm still trying to get the videos you posted to load, and I understand your opinion that Gray is more creative then Blache is. Any insight on the difference between Kevin Coyle and Jeff FitzGerald? You probably know more about them then the rest of us, but I noticed they both run the 4-3 up there in Cincy?

Who found the piece saying Shanny wanted to bring in a 3-4 or else he wasn't coming? Is there a legit article that says that? If that's true, I don't even want Shanny here. Don't have the personell for it, risking a total rebuild of our entire team. We don't need THAT much of an overhaul, not with a top 10 defense.
