Dan T.
As golf season approaches, check out this *900 yard par 3, the world's longest and highest par 3 hole. (*The 900 yards is the total distance the ball travels across AND down. But still...) A helicopter is required to reach the tee, which perches 1,410 feet above the green. Your tee shot is in the air for about 26 seconds, and a system of cameras and tracking equipment helps track and find your tee shot. The green, part of Legends Golf and Safari Resort in South Africa, is shaped like the African continent. (Still image - not a link to video) Anyone who hits a hole-in-one wins $1 million US dollars. But so far only one person has ever even scored par on the hole - pro golfer Padraig Harrington. Watch him do it. skinstzar
Harrington did hit driver. That is just insane. The green looks almost impossible. The first guys putt must have changed direction 3 times.
zoony
There is no way my fear of heights would allow that- standing so close to a sheer cliff. There is a hole like that (okay, not remotely like that, but elevated tee on a hill probably 50 feet above the green) on a local course. Incredibly fun to tee off, not uncommon to actually sink your ball into the green from force of impact
SkinsBry
I can't even think of how many boxes of balls that I'd lose before I hit a playable ball.
Dan T.
Incredibly fun to tee off, not uncommon to actually sink your ball into the green from force of impact The thought occured to me that a ball dropping from that height would burrow itself into soft ground. You would need a garden hoe to repair your ball mark on the green!
Spec138
Wow. Looks like I'd be hitting out of the savanna.
