IbleedBnG83
I really like the idea of making a play for Channing Crowder. He just turned 25 last month. He can play outside and middle. The Dolphins like him a lot but there seems to be some knee concerns. However, he played well after coming off knee surgery similar to Rocky McIntosh. I WOULD NOT OVERPAY HIM AT ALL, but offer him a modest contract. A good contract would be more back loaded so that if his knees do wear down, cutting him would not be costly. He is still young and he was very productive for them last year moving to the middle. I'm waiting for "two LB's with knee problems, no thank you". I feel that it is a well calcualted risk IMO. ________________________________________________ http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_previousnews.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3284 "The Dolphins reportedly low-balled free agent Channing Crowder with a contract offer earlier this offseason. The sides probably aren't even negotiating any longer. The Dolphins will likely look for a bulkier, pure run-stopping inside linebacker to replace Crowder, potentially in the draft. Rey Maualuga would be an ideal fit in Miami."

Gator Bait
isn't he a 3-4 LB
Never4get#21
He's a good player, but has played middle since Zach left. With his injuries I would pass. We already have a injury prone LB core. I would look at other FAs or the draft.

IbleedBnG83
isn't he a 3-4 LB He played in a 4-3 before this year. He is a perfect size for a 4-3 backer.

Mr. S
how serious are the knee injuries? Are they potentially serious like Rocky and Malcolm Kelly, or was it just a freak accident that is fully recoverable from? If they are serious and to both knees, I don't like the idea of having two LB's with potential knee issues in our front 7.
Dick Edds
I think we need to look at all available options for adding young players through FA at modest contracts ... we also need to have the ability to let a guy go who we want, but that is too expensive or has too much interest from other teams driving the price up. He had a SINGLE knee injury the year before. Its not a degenerative knee problem like McIntosh or possibly Kelly. Its more of a Carlos Rogers situation. Its more of a Carlos Rogers situation. Your saying this, but I don't think you really know this. I say pass! 1) He has played inside on a 3-4 defense, where we need outside LBs on a 4-3 defense. 2) He has only 1 year of playtime in a 4-3 defense. 3) We DO NOT KNOW how bad his knees are and if Parcells is low-balling him, he knows something we don't. I rather bring in Vernon Carey and put him at RT and move Jansen into backup mode at G or RT. Then use one of our picks on a LB instead of getting him. I agree Dansby will cost to much and don't want to dish out money like that.

NoleSkin21
Im all for it. Great sideline to sideline speed. Knee problems or not, he would be the second best LB on our team outside of London.

I didn't say break the bank. I actually CAPITALIZED that we shouldn't overspend. Whats wrong with taking a risk on a player for a modest contract? I'd rather bring in Carey to. Something you don't know is that the Dolphins are making it their number one priority to resign Carey so he most likely won't see FA.

In FA, modest contracts are pretty expensive. I saw that you capitalized your thoughts, but you didn't offer what kind of contract is fair. I personally am tired of getting injured players and praying they last. Replacing him with MW doesn't do much if he misses a few games. Depth is still a major concern. Not many great options out there this free agency year. We have three needs that all need to be filled. OL, DT, and LB. The cheapest and best option would be Crowder at LB. That gives us the ability to focus on OL and DT the top part of the draft, and get a young LB in the later rounds, while still have a solid starter for next year.
