Redskins Prove Today Their Battle Is Not For First Place But.....

in attempting to fend off the Eagles to stay out of the cellar.

today's game against the Eagles who lost 38-17 at home last week to Dallas was a key victory to put in the hopper given that the Giants are now losing to the Cowboys at home.

instead of tying the Giants at 6-3 the Redskins are going to remain in 3rd place, only one game ahead of the Eagles.

this team cannot seem to get offense, defense and special teams to come to play a full 60 minutes in any game.

and as long as that is the reality any thoughts of moving to the top of the heap or even close to it are remote.

to me looking at this team right now, finishing 9-7 would be a major achievement over the balance of games left on the schedule.

a good start would be to try and figure another strategy for converting drives inside the 10 yard line. with the injuries this team has up front there is NO way the Redskins are going to be able to bull their way into the end zone on consecutive runs against teams better than the Jets.

and for all the Mike Sellers love that is out there, he is NOT the person you want with the ball in his hand trying to jump OVER a pile and pick up a key first down from in close.

For all the talk by the Eagles' postgame announcers about a Philly chance to get back into the race, the fact is the Eagles have gotten drilled by the Cowboys and Packers, who right now are the class of the NFC, and are no better week to week than the Redskins.

Realistically, the Skins are still playing for a wild-card spot. If the Giants lose, as they are now, Skins are only a game behind them. If the Lions lose, as they are right now, they're still only 1 game behind them with the tie-breaker. The other strong contender for the the second wild-card is the Bucs. And the Redskins can get the tie-breaker over them by beating them in a few weeks.

The dream of winning the NFC East is all but dead, the dream of making the playoffs is still very much alive. So don't let Joe Gibbs and his hijacking the red zone playcalling steal your hope. :)

Cellar Dwellars.............that's us. Get used to it........although you should be by now. Years and years of this is getting old.

The Redskins have been looking up at the rest of the division for so long I bet they feel like they just walked out of a movie theater after a 4 hour movie in which they sat in the front row.

Know anyone that can give a good neck massage?

Redskins now have overtime victories over the 0-9 Dolphins and 1-8 Jets and a 2 point win over the Cardinals on a missed 55 yard field goal.

other than the Detroit game, name a contest after which you were really satisfied with the way this team performed from top to bottom? :)

at some point you can look at being 3.5 years into this program and see very little progress from 2004.

like the later Norv teams, the Gibbs II clubs seem to hover at or near .500 but there doesn't seem to be any synergy for this team to get over the hump and become a true contender.

The dream of winning the NFC East was mostly dead when Dallas started playing lights out. Personally, I was looking for respectability, and we are heading that direction.

Also, the basement in this division might end up being pretty high, because no one is truly bad in this division, unlike the NFC South and the NFC West.

Man, stop trying to rationalize our way into the playoffs. It ain't happening. There has to be big changes and THEY AIN'T COMING!!!!

I agree big changes are needed, but even without those big changes, the Skins have a realistic shot at the playoffs. The teams the Skins are competing with are just as dysfunctional - the Skins just have to refrain from out-dysfunctioning them.

the penalties on defense, the failures in converting on short yardage in the red zone, miscues on the OL at inopportune moments, these are staples of watching the 2007 Redskins and based on that you can't give too many kudos to the coaching staff.

the inability to learn from mistakes and improve over the course of the season in key areas is in part to be laid at the feet of the brain trust.

exactly, anyone that can see some optimism with this is sadly blinded by love

Anyone who can't had their expectations out of whack in the first place.

I don't know why people would expect that a team that was 5-11 last year would be competing for the division, much less the Superbowl.
