hoskins Posted September 8, 2007 Share Posted September 8, 2007 My understanding is that the rule was put in because of Vick lining up with another Falcon QB on the field at the same time. In that case, by rule, Vick is supposed to use another helmet without the radio. The dots are there so the refs can easily see that a team doesn't have two radio receivers out there. Of course, Vick won't have that issue this year. But I really hate the dot. It jumped out at me during the Hall of Fame game and it's bothered me ever since. I think it's to make sure that there is only one person on the field with the radio, and that is good to me, other wise that cheating Jerry Jones would probably put one in every helmet.
