I was reading one of the Mock Draft sites yesterday. For the late rounds we were predicted to select a CB, OG, DT, and TE. IMO, these picks will not be just pre-season roster fillers. There is room for new blood at some of the second and third string positions for the regular season. I agree with PeterKingsIllegitimateKid that we should bring in a PK to challenge Suisham. My choice is a local guy, Brandon Pace, VT.

-I'd like to see us look for some O-line depth in the later rounds, possibly Jacob Bender from Nicholls State with our 5th, big guy 6'6" and about 315 pounds who can play both guard and tackle.

-Also a guy like Doug Datish from Ohio State with one of our 6ths would be nice, good size 6'4", 300 pounds he can play every position on the Offensive line, Guard, Tackle, and he started at Center this past year for the Buckeyes.

A late round possibility for some depth in the secondary would be a guy who is apparently climbing draft boards at an alarming rate, Courtney Brown, a 6'2" 200 pound Cornerback from California Polytechnic State University. He ran a 4.34 40 yard dash at his pro day. He has a 41 and a half inch vertical leap. He's a converted Wide Receiver and he also plays special teams. Not sure if he'll be around when we pick late, but it could happen.

Also somebody mentioned earlier, Geoff Pope a Cornerback from Howard, about 6 feet tall and ran a 4.29 40 yard dash. Apparently his dad also played college ball at the D-I level. He's really raw and not that great of a tackler, but he'll be around when we pick in the 7th, could be worth taking a chance.

I'd like to see one of these guys picked up 5/6th round. They should both be around in the 4/5(McKnight) and 6/7(Hall) area.

Roy Hall looks interesting. He's got great size and is just tall enough I think. But say "Nooooo!" To Rhema McKnight! 34" inch vertical? That is awful for a WR....the equates to no explsion whatsoever. I think my vertical was 33" in HS. Plus he's only 6'1" so he doesn't really help our height problem. And we knock Quinn for having average players around him right? Well here's one of them. Leave this Golden Domer for the Cowboys. And let's add Dallas Baker to the late round gems.

does anyone know where Buster Davis is projected to be drafted? I know he has slipped a little bit, but if there is a miracle, and he is still on the board somewhere by the time we draft on day 2, I think this guy would be a great fit in the B&G...the successor to London Fletcher...and for what it's worth, he could be a clone....

Todd McShay has H.B. Blades going in the middle of the 5th round in his mock. I think he'll go earlier, but you never know. McShay seems to think otherwise.

I think I'd fall right out of my chair if we were able to snag Blades in the 5th round. I think he will be gone by the 4th round at the latest.

Its weird, there are athletes like Blades who did nothing play football well, but get snubbed, down graded, or passed over because they don't run the 40 fast enough or jump high enough. It is sad and funny at the same time that football teams put so much stock into what kind of athlete the person is versus what kind of football player they are. Guys like Rock Cartwright, Zach Thomas, and Rod Smith, even Jerry Rice are a real testament to what makes a great football player: heart and the desire to overcome.

If we don't get Calvin Johnson I hope we get a tall possession reciever in the later rounds. You never know, he might wind up this years Marques Colston! And if nothing more, at least we'll then have our possesion reciver that we need.

The other picks should be offensive and deffensive line depth as well as a conerback for depth.

I'll leave to the would be scouts out there to tell me who these guys really are.

I'd love to see Courtney Taylor, WR, Auburn get picked up in the 4th or 5th. He was one of Campbell's favorite receivers, has great hands, runs great routes, is good after the catch. Very polished receiver.

His big knock is that he isn't blazing fast; still, he ran a 4.50 at the combine.

I think he'd be a great possession-type WR to eventually replace Lloyd.

perhaps its because ive seen josh gattis play for four years, but this kid is a steal if he falls to the fourth round... if you check any comprehensive mock, no one has him falling lower than the fourth. pick d-line in the first and if he falls and we are able to draft him, i have confidence in this kid, he would be a great complement to sean taylor. (hes got the natural love for the game, great head on his shoulders, good size, speed, and instincts,b no doubt he will be successful safety in the NFL)

maybe its just wishful thinking... heres to the draft drinking game tmrw:cheers:

Matt Trannon- Michigan State 6-6 216 lbs.

Scouting says he has shakey hands but from what I saw last year he looked good. He can jump and he isnt too slow. I think we need a player like him for inside the red zone. He might at least be a consideration for a later round.
