I'm going up there tonight. I think I'll piss on it.

I moved over to Park Towne apartments near the Airport so I don't have to look at it as often now. I got some friends coming up from SC and of course the only thing they want to do first is see that damn star.

It's simple. Do not allow yourself to consider just any star to be a symbol of that team. The star symbol has been around a hell of a lot longer than Jerry Jones, or Clint Murchison for that matter.

That's a good point too.

Is it just me, or does driving across 581 & seeing this perched up on Mill Mountain make you hate the damn Cowboys even more?

you guys have electricity down there?? pull the shotgun down from the back window and blast that thing, Barney Fife won't be there for aleast a couple hours...:)

Too bad we can't send more of the spoiled brats from NOVA back home more quickly.

Wow, shows how little you know...I was born in Blacksburg, and lived in the valley for half my life and my ties there run deep. So technically, I am a spoiled brat from SOVA you Jackass. I have lived in NOVA and SW Va and believe me, NOVA is a better place to live, simply put. Dont worry though, we will continue to fund all the **** the rest of you dont want but dont realize you need.

Like public transportation that we need? Christiansburg here. I'm not calling anyone spoiled brats, but I prefer that that we keep the nice people down here. I don't care where they are from as long as they are nice and drive like a normal person and not like some clowns in NOVA.

We're nice.

And we're tired of how slow you 'clowns' drive, who does the speed limit?

At least go five over.

And don't forget, if it weren't for my school your town wouldn't have half the stores it has. You're welcome ;)

PS-Have you seen the construction at 1st and Main in Blacksburg? Hows it coming?

I'm just pissed it took Roanoke ten years to tear down a beat up stadium and even longer to initiate some kind of flood control.

It'll be refreshing when our current city council dies off.

Maybe then we can modernize this city a bit instead of building a stupid effing museum that nobody is going to care about.

You can drive as fast as you want on the SMART road. "One day magnets will steer our cars, better invest a kajillion dollars on a road with magnets on the side".

Hell, I like the reasonable people in the NRV, and then there are the people who liked Robbie Rags. If by nice people you mean rampant racists who think the future depends on stomping out gays and swarthy arab men with funny hats. The area is beautiful but the ugly attitudes of somepeople ruin it. I would much rather my local gas station attendant tell me to Eff off right to my face rather than smile in my face, say please and your welcome, and then call me an N-word lover behind my back when they noticed my darkskinned girlfriend in the car. While this happens everywhere, and is far from indicative of every southwest virginian, racism is barely below ground in SOVA.

The real money gets poured into stupid **** like the smart road, roanoke's new art museum, and Radford's 6 lane bridge to nowhere. But the valley cant find money for simple **** like recycling programs, school renovations, and civic pride. In Radford they fine you for parking on the street but do nothing to clean or fix the road. Thats what drove me nuts about the place, everything is prioritized backasswards. For instance, one of the most conservative counties in the nation has had a democrat as representative for decades now. All becuase he refuses to vote for gun control. Thats like saying it is ok to root for Tony Romo sits to pee, as long as you hate the cowboys.

Finally, NOVA money doesnt fund your mass transit it funds the state infastructure, publicly owned buildings, schools(colleges and universities) and roads. The stuff that keeps VA viable now and for the forseable future. But the raging battle cry is that the north doesnt want the south leeching thier tax money and the south doesnt want liberal money producing liberal projects in their conservative towns. Judging by the population centers and their tendency to the left, Va conservatives better start making babies or do what we did, and welcome an immigrant or two:cool:

Don't even get me started on Victory Stadium. Or the resort/restaurant that was proposed for Mill Mountain. Or the museum downtown that looks like Picasso threw up.

I liked Robbie Rags because you knew exactly what he was about. He didn't hide anything. I'd rather deal with someone like that then most of the two faced SOB's around here. It just keeps things a lot simplier.

But I'm still waiting on Roanoke to build a North bound exit ramp onto 581 out of Valley View. Ugh.

Tech didn't bring the NRV mall back in the 80's. You could walk into a UVA-Tech football game then. I refused tickets because they were horrible.

Blacksburg's chamber of commerce is a joke. They wan't Christiansburg to give up it's land so they can drive over and enjoy it. That's why we shouldn't have that combined chamber that we do. I can't stand blacksburg and their snooty people.

With the transportation comment I was referring to how we have to pay for vdot stuff like that, but it doesn't benefit us. And I drive 5 over. I just don't feel the need to cut people off for no reason while texting my friends. NOVA people could care less if they run over a new born baby. It's all about them.

The whole racism and gay thing could take a bad turn on this board. All I'll say is a lot of us follow what the bible says. Even though we might disagree with a lifestyle, that's not hate. Hate is when you go out of your way to hurt people or impact their lives negatively. Just because we complain or speak our minds doesn't mean anything. Hey, at least we can interpret the constitution and not ban the Bill of Rights. The D.C. illegal gun ban is a prime example of the different train of thoughts that some people share. It's two different worlds in VA. Actually 3. Hampton Roads is different than most other parts of VA.

I agree with the majority of what you say, but if "following what the bible says" means adhering to leviticus and being a bigot, I will search for moral guidelines elsewhere. To many folks hate is when you excuse racism and bigotry as part of a religous system. Are we talking about the same constitution that declared "all men are created equal, with certain inallienable rights" or the one that declared black men as 3/5 a regular person?

Having said that, my father's college roomate has been the C-burg city planner/urban development specialist for the past 15 years or so. He has many of the same gripes you do about city council and its doings. My dad is the zoning administrator for arlington county, according to him SOVA John Lawmakers havent bothered to adhere to the statewide zoning laws and is the reason why that part of the state feels off. At one point, when he was supposed to be helping me move, he counted over a hundred zoning violations on my block alone. These violations range from anything to safety issues like proper walk ways leading up to homes, to blatant disregard to where commercial and residential areas meet. According to my father, who is an expert in zoning and urban planning, the only way things could operate in this manner is through kickbacks and small town corruption going unchecked.

Yeah! Can someone explain that to me? Before I worked at Lewis Gale and spent time in Roanoke, we went to the new Best Buy. So, when we are finished, I hang a right out of the parking lot. Much to my dismay, I had to turn left then circle back on Orange Ave. To this day I don't get it?
