SkinsGlory
I heard he had a 400 yard game last year or something sick like that. I'll sit back and watch what he can do against 2nd and 3rd string defenses before I get more excited.

flexxskins
While all of you guys huff.... and puff... and try to blow the ES house down, I'm going to settle into the leather smoking chair and watch THE REST of THE PRESEASON GAMES and judge for myself what kind of chance Lumsden has.... and then place the trust in his remaining with the team firmly in the hands of the coaching staff. End of discussionNa, this discussion is far from over I predict (especially because you say it is. ) Lumsden has done nothing but positive things everytime he has gotten the football in his hands. Regardless of what level of players that he was going up against, he was playing with the same level of players also. Reasonable deduction just tells me that he is ready to take it to the next level to see what he can do there. Let us know what you think of him later on, up there, in your leather smoking chair Ckin. smalex41
I really feel that he will be a true honest player for the Skins. I saw him in the scrimmage and he wasn't awesome, but there was a lot of potential and looked really good. He had some good plays and runs and I like him carrying the ball. He looks like a really hard worker and has the size, speed and good eyes as a ball carrier which is special. Plus Gibbs and other coaches like him so that says a lot. So hold me to it and lets see if Lumsden makes something of himself this year with the Skins. Don't get me wrong Portis is the starter, but Lumsden could be our next Betts if not better I think. I think he will be on the "practice team". !!

White never lined up at RB. He's a FB and will backup Sellers.
Grey Cup
along time ago we signed a guy from the CFL to play RB and he was a legend before he got here... He used to pulll trucks down the street for training... He never made the team and I cannot find his name Being a Florida guy then you must remember David Overstreet who was a star RB for Miami and he too came from the CFL (Montreal). The CFL and NFL games are totally different (as you will see if you actually take time to watch a CFL game). I would love to see the NFL adapt the CFL's 5 yard rule on returns instead of the "fair catch rule" which totally takes away one of the most exciting parts of the game. bedlamVR
I thought I had heard Rock had bulked up again to take on the FB roll which is where he was orrigionally . White and Nemo are on the bubble and Kherry Kampbell is on IR which would give Lumsden, if he performs a better than 50% chance of catching on as No 3 back if he contributes on ST. I think it is going to be an interesting battle . Also the Battle for the last WR slot seems to be between Espy and Patten possibly Thrash whoes name I have not heard at all in the offseason
walstib
Thanks, sOcrates, for posting the link to the video showing highlights of Jesse Lumsden when he played for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2005. Lumsden is a quick, smart and hard working and running back who can make a positive contribution to the Washington Redskins if he can stay healthy. The only quality he lacks right now is NFL experience. His best bet this year is to earn a place on the practice roster and eventually work his way onto the active roster primarily in a special teams role. If Ladell Betts seeks greener pastures next year, then Lumsden will have had one year experience in the Redskins' offensive system and can make a smooth transition to one of the backup running back positions. By the way, if you go to the 2:37 mark of the video where Lumsden scores an 80 yard touchdown on a screen pass, another former Tiger-Cat and current Redskin, Jonta Woodard (#69), was the lead blocker on the screen and took out two defenders to open the way for the big play. One last fact that may be of interest to Redkskin fans is that Sultan McCullough tried out for the Montreal Alouettes of the CFL in 2005 but was released. Saturday will be an interesting indicator of :helmet: or not. It would really be great to see JL in these 'threads'. RUN JESSE RUN !!!

The only thing I want is for him to be on the field. Poor Kerry Carter was promising too. Lumdsen need to be on the field. I'm looking forward to seeing him play against the Jets. Its a shame, because he will be fighting out with the guy I'm pulling for and thats Nemo! Boy do we still have a crowded backfield. He never made the team and I cannot find his name Not sure if I'm thinking of the same guy, but I remember back in the Riggins years that we tried out a big horse of a guy named Don Testerman. The guy didnt have a lot of speed but absolutely ran over people during the preseason for 2 years with his power style. I really thought he was going to make the team but he ended up getting cut. I'm pulling for Jesse though. We'll see.
clathel
6 WR's will be kept....just like last season.....The race is to see if Thrash makes it or a young kid shows him up. Espy, Patten, Moss, ARE and Lloyd will make it. Lumsden is going to displace Rock "the porn star" Cartwright....We have a couple great porn star names on this squad. cmorina69
Keep Rock, trade Betts. I always thought Betts was overrated anyway. I agree i like rock more anyway, but Betts will show us all how good he is soon so i reserve judgment untill then.

I totally agree with you on this, Lumsden has talent plain and simple, I don't care if its the CFL or not he was bulldozing, cutting and stutter stepping around everybody. I see a lot of potential in this kid and he needs time and the right coaching staff to get him great. I think the skins is a great place for him the learn from the best Byner, and Portis will help in that. I would like to see him make the squad. Gibbs saw something in him back in the winter, and signed him on. Gibbs knows something if he didn't the skins wouldn't have won all those Superbowls, and the '86-87 Skins were filled with nonamers at that time and still kicked the crap out of Denver lol. I am going to get a lot of flack for this, I think Lumsden has 10X more ability then Rock. But we keep Rock on the team more for his team role then his ability. So keeping Lumsden could be a benefit in years to come!

He is a CFL guy with no NFL experience. I didn't understand why so many people wanted to cut Rock and keep him. Makes no sense because Rock is the type of guy every team would want. Hooper
Like I said before. CFL Hero, NFL zero. Doesn't mean he can't play -- starring in the CFL is no small thing. It just means he hasn't shown enough to crack a NFL roster yet. Maybe he will in the future.
