[[ghost]]
Just Saw this posted on ESPN. Did a search and didn't find anything. I hope this isn't a repeated thread... http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2459119 DENVER -- Former NFL running back and Super Bowl record-holder Timmy Smith was sentenced in federal court Friday to 2½ years in prison for conspiring to distribute cocaine. Smith, 42, apologized to the state of Colorado during a hearing before U.S. District Judge Lewis Bab****. "I have made a mistake and I wasn't raised this way," he said. Bab**** said the former football player had been respected at his job as a security guard at a juvenile detention center. "You were leading a Jekyl and Hyde lifestyle," he said. BigRay
Damn that's messed up I hope he gets himself together. I agree with the poster said that he is a Redskin legend if you're going to make a mark why not make it in the biggest game of his life and he did just that. FlaSk1nsfan
I wonder if he still has his ring or if he sold it. I remb reading about one NFL player who was so down in the dumps that he actually sold his superbowl ring. Can you believe that?

True, but he did set the record, and that ought to count for something. :2cents: That said, it would be hypocritical to paint him in a predominantly positive light while bashing Michael Irvin for being a drug addict, even though he had a very successful NFL career. Smith got what was coming to him, and I was very disappointed to read that a Redskin legend (at least to some degree) had been found guilty of such a transgression. I figured it was only a matter of time before a Cowboys fan would throw it in our faces.
Tazhog
Timmy Smith did us a great job in the SuperBowl... and regardless of how far he has "sank" to... I will give him credit for his moment in REDSKINS history! I hope he gets his life together and makes a full recovery... This is truley a sad situation and I choose to remember the positive... Let's see, Irvin, Stepnoski, Nate Newton, Leon Lett, Russell Maryland, just to name a few drug addicts. By the way, Timmy Smith did spend 1 season with the brokebacks

I remb reading about one NFL player who was so down in the dumps that he actually sold his superbowl ring. Can you believe that? i met timmy smith at the casino where i work, some kind of convention, anyways, he was playing let it ride, and was still wearing his ring then, but that was a few years ago, so who knows.
